does someone at Disney think that hiring generic actors and comedians over actual voice actors will get more people interested in this?

and considering that Micucci, Schwartz, Pudi, Moynihan, and Tennant (presumably the SNL reject doing Launchpad as well) will all just be doing their regular voices, this is just sad.

losing any interest I had here.

Unions have made everything a mess with that. We are now in a situation where many voice actors are more costly then "generic actors and comedians" it's just dragging everything back to the 60s and 70s where VA work is done by stage and film actors but for different reasons.
>>

>>88469515
This is a terrible idea for Scrooge and you should feel bad for having it. There's a difference between a thick accent and someone being an outrageous caricature.

I will say though that Tennant's conversational scottish sounds much thicker than I expected, which is good. Even Craig Ferguson dials it back considerably for his professional career; it only lapses when he gets really emotional (the eulogy for his father) or when he's talking with a fellow native.

I've never watched Doctor who, and I've never seen him in anything. All I know is that hes popular with the mainstream normies, and they create a lot of memes out of him. From what I've heard of him he sounds nothing like Scrooge. They should have gotten someone who sounded more like Allen Young's Scrooge.

The voice actor who did Mickey mouse who was also married to the voice actress that voiced Minnie mouse in real life sadly passed away a few years back, and most non Disney buffs know because Disney found a replacement who sounds just like the iconic character should sound like. They could have done the same for Scrooge, and stayed away from gimicky celeb voice casting.
>>
>>88477013
Anon, there's this thing called changing things up and having new VA's do a new take on the character. And shut the fuck up about not liking him because he's "mainstream". The man has done more stuff for radio than he has for television.
>>
David Tennant took his last name after Neil Tennant from Pet Shop Boys, so he will always be a-ok in my book. If you want to see him in non Dr. Who and radio, check him out in Broadchurch or its American remake, Gracepoint. He plays the same character in both and does a fine job.

Mrs Beakley is supposed to sound like an uptight, slightly britsh yet sweet woman. Kinda like a Mrs Potts /Angela Lansbury type.

I don't give a fuck that the voice actress is black. The voice actress who voices Penny on inspector Gadget is black, but when she voice's the characters her blacksent (black accent) doesn't leak into the character. If you didn't know who the voice actress for Penny was you would think she was being voiced by a white girl. That's how talented this voice actress is.

The problem with the new voice actress they got for Mrs Beakley is that you know shes not going to tone down her blacksent. You know when she says certain words her blacksent is going to start to leak through the edges. She wont sound like what most fans know this character to sound like. She'll just sound like a sassy black lady. Learn who or what the character is before you speak, you uneducated burnt douchebag.

>>
>>88480919
Are you implying that a showrunner is irreplaceable or that they micro-manage every single aspect of a show? Van Partible was thrown off of Johnny Bravo after the first season. What about Gennedy for Dexter's Lab?

Directors determine episodes as individuals while showrunners oversee the production as a whole. But if someone decides to have Webby act like Mabel for an episode, the showrunner can't really stop them because they have so much on their plate, they may not notice until it's too late.

Are you forgetting how much Zuke pushed for Peridot/Lapis before Sugar shut that down because it didn't go with her original plan for the characters? If showrunners oversee every minute detail, she wouldn't have had to "shut it down" in the first place.

And when it comes to established franchises, sometimes the "developed by" credit literally does just develop a modern pitch bible and what have you before production while directors taking over. It isn't one person's vision, there is no reason to have a single showrunner other than to satisfy a standard pipeline. The current PPG doesn't have a showrunner because it's someone else's vision.

Tennant started his career as a voice actor. He's done literally dozens of radio dramas in various character roles.

Not defending his casting because they only picked him because he's a famous scot and I'm worried it'll mean he won't be the de facto scrooge replacement which will mean less scrooge because they won't want to pay him (but at least he's better than the guy who just voiced scrooge in Duck the Halls) but he is a legit voice actor.

He was doing Doctor Who audio dramas years before he managed to get on the TV show. He always played random scottish army guys iirc.

I'd bet $100 right now the dude in Duck the Halls wasn't scottish. He didn't sound legit at ALL. His accent was off. His acting was fine, but his accent wasn't that good.

Tennant's normal speaking voice would sound better. I'm sincerely hoping he actually acts and does a bit of character work to not just use his regular voice, but even just him on the phone to his parents would be a better character than Duck the Halls scrooge.

They need to rethink their advertising. I need to hear the voices they will use before any judgement. Seriously, why do they show the actors and not have them do the voice? It just gives speculators room to say whatever they want and either be correct or say "Well, we didn't hear the voices they would use up until this point." All we're going to get is fluff while we sit on our thumbs waiting to see if I should give this show a damn.

Still, I can understand why they want to play it safe and replace her.
>>

He was still up for voicing the character, and was really disappointed that they recast Launch Pad.

But at least he wished his successor well and didn't throw a bitch fit like Tara Strong.
>>
>>88482289
Healthy or not, it's still her choice in the end, too. She might have chosen to stay out ouf it. If the shows popular, and it probably will be, that's going to be a lot of work and stress.
>>
I have no idea if Russi and Terry were even asked at all if they wanted to come back. Given Terry's comments, I get the impression they weren't.

Tara Strong unfortunately didn't learn that you're never entitled to voice a character and you can and will be replaced any time they feel like it.

>>88483384
When a show has a new incarnation, it's a reboot. The last Scooby Doo was great because cartoons weren't as shit as they were now. But it's a pattern that anything remade in the last 2 - 3 years is going to be fucking trash made with some GoAnimate awful program and a shitty character designer.

Ben 10 also had multiple shows, but the latest one is garbage.
>>
Why are you guys trusting a network whose only good show right now is Star Vs? Who cancelled Wander before the second season even premiered? Who kept putting GF on hiatus after hiatus then moved the second season to their hidden channel where it dropped significantly in ratings? The network who currently has a fucking line up Future Worm, Pickle and Peanut, and Penn Zero?

The show might look gorgeous like Mickey Mouse because they'll be re-using the models and same type of animation, but they'll also probably end up having jokes like one of the nephews finding a piece of treasure that's a fart orb. Or a nephew suddenly being characterized as being egotistical and always having half-eyelids while flexing about his strength and then unable to do the most basic of tasks.

What makes you people think the comedy will be funny and the adventures will be exciting?

You're comparing script driven shows and board driven shows. Apples & Oranges, dummy. DT is script driven, like GF, or Futurama or Family Guy. Those board artists/directors have ZERO say over script or character- they have to board what's given to them.

Board driven shows on the other hand like Johnny Bravo of Steven Universe are entirely written by their board artists. It's the opposite.

Nice try pretending to know anything about cartoons though. It's almost cute that you think you have any insight
>>
>>88488934

>>
>>88489374
>Johnny Bravo is entirely written by their board artists.
Johnny Bravo is script written and is known for such a thing because it's where Seth MacFarlane got his foot in the industry. PNuPG is also script-driven and still has no showrunner because the original creator is gone and has become a franchise at this point. Much like new Ducktales.

Nice try pretending to know anything about cartoons though. It's almost cute that you think you have any insight.
