I have no idea what the fuck this SMBC comic is talking about.

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

It`s a long allusion to a talk about sex.
Too long to be funny.
>>
it's an allusion to sex and it's talking about university level material including physics, math, and computer science.

Even having a background in some of these things as an undergrad it still went over my head.

>Too long to be funny.
It was pretty long, but I enjoyed it all the way through
>>
It's pretty explicit about where it switches between clearing up the schrodinger's cat analogy that sometimes bleed into quantum computing explanations and where it relates those concepts into sex. You're not missing anything all that funny OP.

I can't even fucking wrap my had around this. Not the quantum mechanics stuff but the fact that this comic was even made. If he just wanted to introduce concepts of quantum computing I would have appreciated it much more as just a comic about a character explicitly explaining to the topic of interest. The half hearted attempt at humor is just fucking sad.

WHERE'S THE JOKE FUCKLEY?

I can't wrap my head around any of it. The physics, why it's so long, anything. The whole thing confuses me. I've never heard of a qubit before.
>>
>>88437189
I think being long was the point.

>words words words words words words words words words words

Just write an essay
>>

>half hearted
No man, it's FULL hearted. This guy had an idea for a 2-to-3 panel gag where a "sex talk" was juxtaposed to a "some very serious science stuff", that he thought was so good it deserved going with over 60 panels and a billion fucking words (and I bet he thought the sheer length would only add to the humour).
Whatever.

It was funny

It was informative

He does long comics like this because the payoff is the votey at the end. Usually it's something to the effect of "My hand doesn't work anymore!" or "People ''''''love'''''' long comics!".

Apparently this time around the joke is "Ha ha, this time I'm nerdier than XKCD!".

It absolutely was not.

If this is a shot at Randall Munroe it isn't a cute friendly jab, it is a vicious attack on his character.

Munroe is the equivalent of the kid in the comic, he thinks that by wikipedia binging science articles he is an expert on all forms of science. "Wow isn't science amazing!" thinks Randall Munroe after a quick perusal of quantum physics articles online. Munroe has now learned that quantum computing can change the world! He is a wide eyed child who believes in magic and calls it science. Munroe runs to his computer to write another stick figure comic with no punchline about how great science is, but contains no real information, just wish fulfillment and ignorance.

Zack Weinersmith may not be able to consistently write anything funny either, but at least he knows a thing or two about science. Frustrated that Randall Munroe is more popular than him Weinersmith decides to make a comic bashing Munroe's childlike idealism and ignorance by making an excessively long, but scientifically accurate comic about how quantum computing actually works.

Basically this is the equivalent of some college professor calling out one of those "I fucking love science!" facebook pages.

tl;dr this comic isn't funny but it is informative, and it might be mean spirited. I hope so.

Who else /dumb/ here
>>
>>88437159
I understood all of that and, while it actually manages to fit a lot of witty parallels to sex, porn, masturbation and the likes, it really goes on too long to be funny

Weinersmith doesn't understand quantum computing well enough to write this. It was co-written by Scott Aaronson.
