Stitch! was Disney Japan's version of the franchise, set in a completely different universe from Lilo and Stitch. It wasn't until Disney America came along and insisted they do something to tie it into the western version of the franchise, so they wrote the episode where adult Lilo meets Stitch, but it was never referenced in Japan again and for all intents and purposes didn't happen.
