Anyway, i find it interesting that the all new kids are making the same mistakes as their older selves. Hank's willingness to play fast with his experiments leads to him becoming a beast...but with magic, not chemistry. And Warren's insecurity leads to him becoming more powerful, but via cosmic power, not Apocalypse.

Adbridged but still long version is:
Scott married a human wife to be her trophy husband and generally left active service with the X-men.
They had a kid called Nate which really freaked Rachel out since she was expecting to be the one to be born.
Then Marvel decided they wanted the 05 for X-factor and had cyclops immediately ditch his wife and child in Alaska to find JEAAAAAN upon learning she was alive.
This pissed Claremont the fuck off.
Eventually the issue of Cyclops ditching his wife and kid was going to come up so eventually they "solved" that problem via demonizing her and took the phrasing literally.
Maddie suddenly shows up in NY out of nowhere , is retconneed into an evil jean clone made by sinister to breed with Scott after mindraping him (because all redheads are all the same person or a clone) despite explicitly not looking like Jean before and literally summons/merges Hell/Limbo into NY with Nate being a planned child sacrifice to demons because she seriously did not take the breakup well. She takes Alex Summers as a boytoy during this and has him wear an equally skimpy outfit.
And thusly Cyclops was saved from any moral quandaries about being a shitty husband.

I'm actually a bit surprised she didn't capture kidclops for a rape and/or torture dungeon
