Can /co/ recommend some war related comics? Preferably from WW1 to modern times.
Want to get something for my dad.

You can try Buz Sawyer, get the first book, which covers his adventures as a pilot in the navy, fighting the Japanese in WWII. It's an old comic, from the 1940s, if that's ok.
I can make a storytime thread for it, if you like.

The Pilot in the Edelweiss was pretty nice to look at.
All I really remember tho is that the one pilot bangs this chick while flying and then she gets shot by a german.
And that they fit a manually loaded 37mm cannon to one of the Nieuports.
There are a lot of french WW1 comics tho IIRC. So those should be easy enough to find.
Look for war comics by Garth Ennis and take what you think looks nice.

For WW1, try Tardi's "It Was the War of the Trenches" and Mills/Calquhoun's "Charley's War".
For WW2, try Garth Ennis' "War Story" (especially the Vertigo volumes) and "Battlefields", plus Kanigher and Kubert's "Sgt. Rock" and "Unknown Soldier" (a bit corny and cheesy, but an excellent change of pace).
For Vietnam, try Murray and Golden's "The 'Nam", Aaron's "the Other Side" and Ennis' "Punisher MAX: Born."
Modern warfare is a bit harder, but you can try Edmonson and Gerad's "The Activity" and King's current "Sheriff of Babylon."
Also, do try George Pratt's "Enemy Ace: War Idyll." In fact, all Enemy Ace stories are awesome in their own ways.

Speaking of Enemy Ace. War in Heaven or whatever the WW2 one was called was also pretty neat.
There is also that Wunderwaffen or whatnot comic if you just want to see Luft 46 planes in action. No clue what the story was tho.

War in Heaven was indeed pretty awesome, and even if the story hadn't been great, it'd still have been worth it just for the bright red Me-262.

>>88418303>that part where the 30mms "malfunction" and turn a guy into a fine red mist
