I can't even believe how far Bendis has fallen at this point. Civil War II is the worst 616 event since the 90's and, other than a few books that done their best to avoid his taint, the whole line, top to bottom, is in really terrible shape. I'm done with Marvel for a while until someone in editorial over there grows a pair and stops letting this guy run roughshod over all their books with his bullshit.

I wish there was someone who Bendis actually listened to who could tell him that he is hurting these characters, their brands, the books of other hardworking creators, the company as a whole, and the comics publishing market in general with this stuff. His ego, his desire to write so many books, his need to have his fanfiction-y event consume so much of the line for well over half a year...it's really an awful thing. Marvel is in a bad place creatively and it's mostly on his books. CWII is an albatross around the neck of the entire company.

So because of Marvel and Bendis' inexplicable desire to add an issue to their shitty event (and pad out the penultimate issue with filler from another artist), the big climax is spoiled by a tie-in. What the everloving fuck were they thinking?
>>
>>88416373

Come on. We're talking about a guy who thought Google existed back in 1996 and people used the phrase "Google'd that" regularly in '96.

He's also the guy who thinks Cambridge Universe is in London.

>This entire issue.
I can't tell if I hate Miles or if I hate Bendis.

No one.

The only "fans" he has are turbo casuals who have never read a comic in their lives and only like the idea of a black Spider-Man. And diveristyfags (see: Tumblr).

That's literally it.
>>
>>88416863
Hate Bendis for giving you a reason to hate Miles.

I'm sure that under any other writer, Miles would have had some semblance of substance and character. But has anybody written a Miles story other than Bendis? Not just a side-appearance in a crossover like in Hickman's "Secret Wars", but a straight solo story starring Miles.
>>
>>88416760
Well, he IS a faggot.

One thing I would like to see Miles experience is for something to stop making him venom blasting all the time. Maybe he accidentally goes too far and kills someone or at least nearly does. I swear Peter had moments where he hit someone way too hard and realized how terrible of an idea it was.
>>
>>88416840

He doesn't. He's just as bland and uninteresting regardless of who writes him.

>But has anybody written a Miles story other than Bendis?

He shows up in other books all the time. Waid and Slott wrote him, for sure. I'm sure other people have too.

>I'm sure that under any other writer, Miles would have had some semblance of substance and character

PROTIP: You can't, because there is none.

>>88416990
Oh, right, I almost forgot about that.
Y'know, this is almost a case of Peter getting cucked and Gwen getting BLACKED. I say "almost" because at least Peter is 30 years old or so. Whatever Marvel's sliding time-scale suggests his age to be.

>>88417016
>He shows up in other books all the time. Waid and Slott wrote him, for sure. I'm sure other people have too.
I'm aware of that. But I'm talking a solo story with Miles.
I don't think any writer other than Bendis has written a story for Miles.

>>88416373
>And there was nothing I could do about it.

No. Explaining Miles' new history would require more time and effort than Bendis is willing to commit to it. He just expects people to come up with their own explanations or simply accept that he's here now and isn't going away.
>>
>>88417522

>there needs to be some suspension of disbelief

Suspension of disbelief isn't the issue here, though.

IN THE BOOK, Miles specifically talks about how all of his powers are direct correlations to the abilities of a spider.

This is factually not true. His ability to turn invisible and his ability to shoot electricity are not abilities spiders have.

>b-b-b-b-but some spiders change color!
That isn't turning invisible. You're just over-rationalizing it for yourself because your a Bendis shill who is trying to justify liking a shit book.

This, on a body level. It's not even like it's infinite shots either. Completely depends on the intensity which is why he could barely walk after the first AoE one.

Jessica had bio-electric energy projection aka venom blast before Miles but we're not reee'ing about it.

Because everyone knows Jess is horseshit in the power department.
And Miles' camo is just an invisibility field not shifting or anything to blend in.

But the real issue with Venom blast isn't it exists it's how OP it is. It always fucking wins. Jess' horseshit powers atleast aren't a "I win" button she conveniently remembers when Bendis is done padding out the fight. They just her generic projectile.

It's almost with a lot of comic book powers intensity does matter.

It's more like it's the most inconsistent yet overpowered piece of shit ever since every time he uses it it acts different. You'd expect it to become a plot point but nope it just ends the fight and there's no follow up.
And Peter was more like a few minutes before it knocked him out for a few hours.

how the fuck is CW2 still going jesus christ
>>
>>88416456
This whole issue was just a recap of CWII #7, ONE scene of character growth for Miles, and then his dad getting needlessly shit on to set up yet another "my parent(s) was secretly a SHIELD agent!" twist that Bendis has used a thousand times.
>>
>>88420621
It took more than one. When Miles actually defeated Norman he used it several times.
>>
>>88420750
Nope. That's not what's happening next. Jefferson is probably going to run away again.
>>
>>88420621
I think he means in the last fight. In the first encounter I believe Norman got reverted to his human form then popped back up. Then in the end he kept hitting him with Venom Blasts. He hit Pete twice with the Venom blast in their Spider-men fight. The first of which KO'd hi for a short bit and was the first time it traveled across a surface. The second time knocked Pete out for the whole day.

Zapped Peter once in the comic i referenced above and then Peter knocked Miles out. Then in the one below it was for a few seconds. Then Miles got angry about his mask and knocked him out for hours http://view-comic.com/spider-men-02-of-05-2012/

I think the industry at large took the plunge around 2012-ish
>>
>>88416921
Miles' personality is that of crowd-filler. He latches onto others and tries to emulate them. His adoration of Spider-Man means he tries to mimic being cocky superhero-type but doesn't believe in it. His very existence is screwed up and has continuity errors from being a transplant, but isn't aware of these so there is no drama used there. Miles works best as a boring character that is surprised by the eccentric bullshit of everyone else in the world.
>>
>>88417239
He isn't wrong though. Status Quo is the strongest force in the universe.
>>
>>88416389

No he's an AI know so he'll never be free.
>>
>>88421303
It was just Hickman being 2deep4u
>>
>>88422402
But Miles ultimately doesn't try to emulate anybody though. Miles is Spider-Man because others foisted it upon him. He doesn't really mimic Peter as Spider-Man. Peter makes a couple wisecracks but Miles as he's grown into his own tends to antagonize his opponents with condescending sarcasm. And Miles doesn't hold back nearly as much when he fights. He hasn't killed anyone yet (except maybe his uncle) but many times without any care at all he has put his opponents lives at risk.

Miles is a hero sure, but not even he knows if that is what he really wants to be or who he really is? His heroism is not so much based on who he is but on what he believes he is not. As Miles has said he represses certain tendencies of his for fear of allowing it to overcome him. Unlike his Uncle he wants to be the good guy but he just isn't. At least not entirely.

As far as his continuity is concerned he remembers everything from the Ultimate Universe.
>>
>>88416373
Tony is using drugs or is he drunk again?
>>
>>88416414
And stay dead piece of shit!
>>
>>88423214
Add to that Miles is more of a realist than Peter. Peter always falls back to what would Uncle Ben do when faced with many morale choices. Miles admits here that he doesn't have someone like that and has to look around at older heroes or figure it out himself. So he's less idealistic than Peter about the world. And at this point he's withdrawing from it quite a bit because he feels he's being let down by the heroes he looks to.
>>
>>88419048
>I mean some spiders do have venom.
Venom =! electricity, which is what Miles has. It's only venom by name.
