Azarello's run is actually the only WW run I've ever read. I've heard that Rucka has worked to retcon all of that away as quickly as possible. Can someone explain what that's all about?

Wake me up when this snoozefest is over. I have read several WW origins over the years and this is the dullest I have read. Even Scott's art doesn't appeal to me like past WW artists. Diana feels just kinda dumb with those constant wide eyes and lost/confused expressions.

This is a great example of autgor entitlement. Rucka has spent 7 months getting his ducks in a row, making his retcons, slagging his rivals, setting up hos headcanons - before thinking of actually writing a comic. And for no more permanence than he had before: what a waste of time and potential.

Diana never went back to the island after she left with Trevor. Seems she has been mind fucked for 5 years by some blah villains from Rucka's old run along with the Gods. I've been reading comics for 30 years. I've just always mostly been a Marvel guy. When the New52 started I figured "Hey, fresh start, huh? Let's give this Wonder Woman thing a shot. It seems interesting." I read it, I enjoyed it.

The sad thing about this huge retcon is that NU52 biggest problem wasn't even Brian Azzarello's run, but how the character behaved outside his book in titles like Justice League, Superman/Wonder Woman and several minis and cross-overs.

But instead of retconning those appearances where Wonder Woman was a oblivious and brutish cunt to everyone around her, Greg Rucka kept those appearances as canon and retconned only the Bryan Azzarelo's run, which added tons of great things.

Aphrodite is called Aphrodite on this page, but Artemis is called Moon and Ares is called War, but then after that they go back to their true names and Apollo is referred to as Apollo.

The Olympian gods were gods, irrespective. They've existed before, they were doing things in Earth 2 separate (including having them die out, presumably from a lack of worship or the death of the planet, etc.) from whatever they were doing in the main earth WW title, so the implication is that they are lower tier God, versus higher tier gods like Darkseid and Apokolips.

So there's all sorts of way they've been used before, many times in many ways, in Diana's book and elsewhere, so stuff being referenced isn't an issue.

So, in all of these issues so far, is there an actual PLOT? Or is it primarily fine-detail character work and retcons?
