I think she and Daken are both fine characters desu. Laura actually has a really strong supporting cast for being a relatively minor character, I usually think it's a shame that writers (e.g. her current one) don't really tap that. She has like her OG crowd from the mini, the Avengers Academy crowd, the X-Men crowd.

In my opinion, Laura, the good Laura that is, works best when she is seen from the eyes of more 'normal' individuals and we rarely get a glimpse into her mind. I am using that story where Predator X is introduced as an example of that.

We see Laura from the eyes of Julian and Cess. We see how terrifying that she appears, a girl who is willing to kill whoever it takes to complete her objective. Yet, you see her softer side, the girl who has issues with her emotions and relationships. As you see them, you slowly get a fuller picture of who Laura is as a person than if it is straight up told to you.

To my mind, it also creates an air of mystery about her, you wonder what must be going through her head to make her think like she does. It also allows you to take her characterization in different directions easier as you have no real understanding of her thought pattern, instead you just have speculation. At least, that's my thoughts on it.

Yes, but she hasn't been written in character in years, and with the direction her solo is going I think Laura's best days are long gone. A shame really, many heroes had some kind of tragic event shaping their early life, but not many that still haven't recovered from it and that's what made her stand out.

She does not seem good. She's so subdued and somewhat autistic, it's like even the writers don't know what to do with her.
