I just finished reading Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and I have to say that it is hands down the gayest fucking thing I have ever read in my life, both literally and metaphorically.

I can't think of another work that goes out of its way to build worlds, to take the setting across all manner of time and locations AND to fully flesh out those places to be visually enticing while historically accurate, and completely blows this effort of making things look beautiful by filling it with the most obnoxious, overblown shounen fighting and screaming tropes that we've seen in everything from Power Rangers to Dragonball. It is literally the equivalent of a celebrity's $500,000 sports car, fresh off the lot, pristine and beautiful, that the douchebag goes and wraps around a tree because it's de riguer of his lifestyle to get drunk and ruin good cars.

I'm so sick and tired of watching these fucking shows that are all carbon copy battle anime which the only thing going for them is how goofy and over-the-top they are. It's like the producers know this garbage is the same every time so the only way they can one-up the competition is to make their show an even bigger neon seizure-triggering pukefest than the last one. The action is clunky, the characters are unlikeable, their goals are never filly fleshed out, and even if they are they just end up dropping them or changing them completely without any indiccation halfway through the show. Everybody fucking overreacts to everything and it's not cool; it's annoying and autistic, but somehow everyone here laps this shit up like it's pure gold.

That's the other downside: the fanbase is in the top 5 in terms of collectives of poorly developed manchildren. Jojofags are in the same camps as the sanic and pokemon ones. They don't care about story or aesthetics or none of that shit; they just want to see these niggerlipped roid monkeys slap each others' tits for 30 minutes.

As someone who watched the series earlier in the year, it starts pretty slow. It sets up its setting and characters well enough for a gundam series anyways. The first 12 episodes are a bit of a crawl but theres little character moments here and there but its not a heart pounding mecha series because if you take the time to watch it the first season is just these kids coming into control of this PMC and basically just trying to survive. I get why people don't find that terribly exciting but if you watch a good majority of the gundam series and other mecha series out there it really isn't a bad change. Just kind of a mediocre/weird one.

I've enjoyed IBO alot. Obviously your mileage will vary depending if you like the characters but I think that really should how you judge most shows these days. Good constant consistent action is hard to expect at times.

I wasn't talking about G-Reco. I could go on for paragraphs on how I enjoyed it but at the same time I don't think it was the complexity that people hated it was more the fact that the show forgot that it had a plot until towards around episode 19. The story drags for about ten episodes and as it wasn't the worst series in the world as it wasn't boring still completely had no momentum going into the final episodes where we meet another group of people that turn out to be the main conflict and then things start blowing up and at that point I could careless about the series as I had let go of caring what is what from about episode 13. Sometimes you just need to let a series take you where it wants to regardless of what others says. I'll always be a fan of Tomino he has a very unique style even if a series is overall a failure generally he's still a fascinating watch.

I could go on and on and on about G-reco. It holds an interesting place in my heart as far as Gundam series go.

Fathom Events is pretty good, they screen a lot of old movies and the occasional anime movie. I watched From Here to Eternity tonight, Spirited Away last week and they're showing Princes Mononoke in January.
