I never really liked that backstory and I always thought it was questionable, why would a species so hardwired for violence ever have a society advanced enough to develop space travel? Nope, it wasn't. The manga never mentioned how the Saiyans ended up living on Vegeta, it was just assumed they came from there. Granted, the anime made the stupid claim about the Tuffles but given how the episode gave us a non-canon explaination for Vegeta's destruction, how every piece of media featuring the Tuffles contradict each other and how it's all just a long line of bullshit the anime made up, I thought it was safe to disregard it as trivial at best.

Reality is Superman would repeatedly stomp Goku in a fight but spare his life, and after the hundredth time with saiyan biology he would be as strong as superman, and they'd be equally strong and tag team defeat other villains. If you don't kill Goku or a saiyan in a fight they will literally equal or surpass their opponent in strength, canon.

When Vegeta first arrived in that space hospital or wherever, there were tons of dudes addressing him as "Lord Vegeta" and generally acting like they were scared shitless of him. Vegeta seemed to be kind of a middle-management dude, head-and-shoulders above the rank-and-file soldiers, but well beneath the upper echelon.
