Honestly, the art shift was like an artillery shell to me.

Early PNat had such a great art style that was really fresh, one that blended stylistic anime inspired designs with cartoonishness.

The new one is technically more proficient, I suppose, but it's also much, much blander.

It wouldn't really make a difference. He's still using his hand the same way. Actually a tablet is more likely to cause wrist injuries because unlike paper where you're really supposed to draw moving your arm and not your wrist, you have to use only your wrist with a tablet. Plus after your wrist is hurt it's going to keep getting injured because it's weaker. To fix it he'd have to take off a lot of time to get therapy for it which is a good idea since he doesn't want to lose his drawing ability.

I think the art style was going to happen whether or not he kept scanning or not. Maybe he can get a cintiq and we can get back some of the hand drawn feel. IMO this is the best drawing he's ever made and I'd like to see the comic looking like that but it might be a little time consuming with his current method.

Yuko Ota of Johnny Wander completely fucked up her wrist and had to learn how to draw with her other hand which led to some interesting results. She still has problems with her wrist I believe. Zack hopefully won't get to that level.

The dodgeball arc was pretty direct homage, the rules for spirit energy is basically Nen, and HxH had a habit of dropping in big exposition dumps just to ignore it forever too.

This page right here is a parody of the Shadow Beasts. Togashi introduced them and built them up as the most elite hitmen in the world's mafia organizations, then killed half of them in one chapter and the other half off-panel.

I should also mention that this big war between the mafia and an elite group of assassin thieves is all going on while the main character cares about basically none of that and just wants to track down a rare video game.

The key difference is that Togashi could release 20 or so pages every week compared to Zak's 2, so he could afford to flesh out he world with tons of expositions and worldbuilding without ever making the story seem to drag, and Zak can't.

And there were definitely comments about Day being pandering and stuff but not much complaining about Zarei since she wasn't intrusive and didn't have a lot of focus. As for the Zarei discussion, there were a couple of trolls but most of it was me and that other guy living in a fairly muslim country discussing how Zarei's faith doesn't make much sense considering alliance with djinn is completely against her religion.

I was just explaining that assuming people were complaining because the comic had a muslim character other than a few trolls is a mistake, we can discuss the implications of things in a fictional world without them having any effect on reality or canon.

It would be something that would definitely have to be explored how their faith conflicts with their interactions with the demons, and how malicious or harmless the demons are that they work with. I mean to complete the analogy with Paranatural, the world is entirely inhabited by invisible demons, angels cast down by God to earth/bumbling ex-minions of Satan, and they're one of the minority who can see them.

Zack obviously has ignored the question of shirk entirely. Maybe in flashbacks when Zarei first became a spectral and realized that she could see spirits all around her we'll find out she had a crisis of faith, but we won't see a scene like that till like 2020 if it's even a twinkle in Zack's eye right now.

Which sucks.
