Want to make May Zedong powerful or relevant? She's the bearer of the Cursed Eye, yet another in it's long line of victims.

Not saying they will, and hopefully they won't. But they could suddenly start shoving new powers onto everyone if they wanted and be entirely justified in-universe

They were on a team together in Atlas/Alsius. Jim aged better because he stuck around as a hunter, while Jacques went into business and let his aura wane. Which is the only reason why Jacques lets himself lose his composure around James, much the way Weiss lost her composure at the fund-raiser - Jacques trusts Jim implicitly, even if he doesn't agree with him all the time.

It's not even a question. They're actually quite good friends, even if they're butting heads over business/diplomatic interests. Or when James tries to get him to be a better father by pointing out that he really should turn off the shark with his family, or at least his children. Jacques, though, deep down, he doesn't know how to treat his children as children instead of employees, and gave up trying to learn years ago because he couldn't get it right.
