Moon Knight
Ok I want to jump into moon knight and heard a lot of recommendations here, but wheres the best place to start? Epic Collection, Essential, Ellis, Lemire? I want to take advantage of Barnes and Noble's sale
I really love blank space, but I'm glad it's not trendy.

I'd suggest starting with Moon Knight

Moench/Sienkiewicz run (especially the later issues) and Ellis run are the best. Read either of those two. Since the latter is in this thread you might as well start here.
>>88365626
Yeah I already like this, which other 2 do you think? Its buy 2 get one free

Alright thanks fellas

Satan claw user, pls go.
>>88365666
I'm really partial to this set of six issues.
Each is a standalone.
And while not all of them have Moon Knight, it's just damn good comics, and there is some Moon Knight.
>>88365762
>>88365666
Shit, forgot post link >>88361178
Oh yeah moon knight, lets hit it!
Would you guys watch, or even want, a Moon Knight Netflix show?
>>88365792
Moon Knight
>>88365762
it kills me that they just used Ellis to start this up and didn't let him do a whole run. It's no coincedence that the qualtiy and sales of the book died when he left and the artist did.
God damn marvel, stop shooting things in the foot before they get outta the starting gate.
>>88365846
Ellis's schtick is he shows up, does 6 issues of something, then leaves for a while.
I think the last time he had anything longer than 6 issues at Marvel was his (muchfuckingbetterthanwhedon) Astonishing X-Men stint.
I've been thinking about it for a while but these threads have made me really wanna get my ass in gear, I want to get all appearances of moony hopefully digital and print. How hard y'all reckon it'll be ?
>>88365846
Basically, this is just Ellis being Ellis, so actually don't blame Marvel this time.
>>88365870
Not too bad really.
>>88365237
Neat
>>88365881
Was that the shitty run with Xorn, or the one where emma and cyclops had a thing and they made the island while threatening california to let the protect them in peace?
Also, it's kinda stupid of them to do that, they're basically trying to bait and switch readers, and the numbers clearly show how well that goes. Man, really gotta pick up the trade of these 6 issues, fuc the rest of this run though, really bad.
>>88365846
it's sad that marvel had the best artists working for them in the past and all they hire now are shitty bloggers and webcomic type artists.
>>88365810
Of course
>>88365939
Moon Knight
>>88365951
Neither. His was with the Ghost Boxes and Mutants from another dimension or some such weirdness.
Check it out.
>>88365881
Seems like they intended to use him as a bait n switch from the word go though.
>>88365265
>>88365283
Who was the POV character in the intro anyway?
>>88366075
We'll get to that later, but she's basically a blogger trying to get the scoop on Moony.

These work so much better in the actual comic, where you can easily flip pages and follow each panel independently.
>>88365846
>used Ellis to start this up and didn't let him do a whole run
I was under the impression that this was his whole run. That is, this all is what he had planned from the beginning. While I certainly would've enjoyed more of the same, and would've kept following if that was the case, I wouldn't want him to have ran through his material and just started making up whatever in order to force things to keep going.
>>88366065
Honestly, this issue was the one that made me hold onto this short series. Trippy as fuck.
>>88365810
Yes as long as the song Moon Knight is about to link in ~30 secs will be in the credits.
Also, it HAS to be serialized. No block release. Preferably a BBC style series, just not in 28 fps. Get Dion Beebe on cinematography.

I don't think so, I mean, they set up his psychatrist fairly early, but then Ellis steps out before it was resolved I'm pretty sure.
Everything that comes after it is terrible and campy and does not match the feel of the first few issues. The last issue is especially heinous.
>>88365810
Of course I would, and unlike most marvel heroes it's cannon if he kills his badguys!
Honestly I think his eerie mister knight persona would kick ass on Dare Devil or Punisher for starters, he's a nice contrast to both of them.
>>88366172
"You've been breathing in his dreams."
Fuck, this King's Vision were the last good things Marvel ever did...

>all they hire now are shitty bloggers and webcomic type artists.
This isn't true, please stop this meme.
>>88365810
absolutely, as long as it makes sense to watch and isn't hard to follow because moon knight is ~totally insane~
>>88368679
And they're both overrated as fuck. Poor marvel...
Post the superior Lemire/Smallwood/et al run.
Also you guys give Ellis way too much credit, these entire 6 issues are dominated by Shavley and colorist. You really think Ellis or any writer for that matter writes out detailed fight choreography? Pro-tip: They don't.
It's not hard to give the artists credit where it's due guys.
It's just another fucking comic book.
>>88366214
You know, Netflix is doing these hallway long shot fight scenes for every Marvel show they make. This issue is perfect for it.
>>88372459
Your point?
I need more moon Knight in my life about right now.

As if Lemire's run isn't just a glorified Artists showcase.
Are these volumes all collected in a hardback perhaps? Trying to do some last minute shopping for a /co/ friend and this seems perfect, but my google-fu is weak.
>>88389068
Not currently, and since they have 4 creative teams over 4 (soon to be 5) trades, it's unlikely they'll bother for quite some time.
Maybe October next year, but that's a longshot.
>>88389132
Well shucks. Thank you for the quick response. Anyone with recommendations on what would go well as a bundle gift? Are the other volumes just as good?
