I've found some of the first year characters at a "Five Below" before, and the game itself frequently goes on sale for $40/50. Just don't buy any of the shit when it's full-price and you can get a decent experience out of it.

I bought some of the minifigs but I didn't get the actual game. The game doesn't even seem that bad. I watched videos of the parts I most wanted to see(in particular the recreation of Homer's chili cook off hallucination, Portal, and Sonic). But Lego games are the kind of game that's fun for like 3 hours then it becomes really tedious and samey and you dont actually want to touch it again for a year but you do it anyway and burn yourself out on it completely because you want to get your moneys worth.

The sonic pack is literally the best sonic game to come out in years.

They packed it full of references of the sonic community, and yeah, the open world aspect is amazing. Not to mention collecting Legos as rings works perfectly.

A few months ago, they had a bona fide "retro knight" package with a little trebuchet. It looked gorgeous. Problem is - I'd have to spend 65€ on other stuff to get it.
