What about a possible return of the worst moms ever? At the end of Dragon Games, the EQ is still (irritatingly) convinced that Raven had the evilness in her just because she used psychology to twart her plans, and it isn't said anywhere that Snow White will stop being a manipulative bitch: she hugged Apple at the end, but it doesn't say much about their relationship: there is genuine family love, and that's sure, OK, but is Snow sorry for not having stopped EQ when she could have, or in her head it's all someone else's fault?

Look guys, I know how much you're mad about how it went with these franchises. There were awesome, there were something different. When Monster High popped up, I was hyped. It helped me relaxing during school graduation tests. Ever AFter High, geeze, I can't even know where to start, it was huge for being just a doll franchise. Unfortunately, the further they went, the worse Mattel handled them. It's a fact. But we have all the interpretations, all the subtext, all the fanfictions and headcanons and basically everything good fans are known for. That's a good 80% of why we liked this: everything we elaborated from them. The official franchises may die soon, again, it's a fact. But I don't want OUR interpretation of the franchises to follow the same route. It's just too much and too good stuff to just letting it.

As for the franchise itself...I know they have an Archery line coming up, so maybe there's still a few episodes left which they can use to promote it. But I think they're done after that.
I was was walking down a toy aisle with my neice and I saw MH, Barbie, even a couple of Miraculous Ladybug toys, but I didn't see one EAH doll, so I'm pretty sure this franchise is on its last legs.
Just as well, I think they reached their peak after Dragon Games and now have nothing much else to do.

I still feel like Faybelle is kind of a teenage version of the "pigtail-pulling" thing. She bothers you because she wants your attention. Duchess is, based on the book continuity at least, one of her only real friends, but Faybelle bothers her. By her own admission she really likes Briar, but she bothers her all the same. She claims to really dislike Apple and Raven, but so did Duchess and based on certain things Duchess actually admires them both. I think Faybelle acts out because she wants people to pay attention to her and she shares her mother's legendary dislike for being excluded from things, but the problem is she's bad enough to act badly and annoy people but too good to really BE bad inside.

There is still something to make another Netflix miniseries on, like I said, Dragon Games left unresolved the tension between Apple and Snow, Evil Queen is still convinced Raven will become evil,it's not clear whether Milton knows or not what happened to the Storybook, what will happen to Cerise's family, many characters have yet to find their resolution... the list goes on.

Not really. I'm just enjoying the Rapple content without any actual expectations of its validation in canon. The subtext is more than enough. If someone has a problem with me finding it more compelling than the canon likelihood of Dexter, that's really Matel's fault for demonstrating they CAN make a based male character like Daring but giving their main character a boring milquetoast to distract from the much more interesting subtext with the other main character.

Raven and Apple's dynamic is what makes the show work. They don't have to make out on screen for that to be true.

I mean, the way they settled things in WTW fit with the narrative arc of their relationship. It wasn't a matter that needed to be resolved with a shouting match, it was a matter of Raven standing her ground in pointing out an unfair situation and in doing so giving Apple cause to question their situation and realize things aren't as simple as her mother taught her they were, and ultimately she decides to do the right thing and trust in Raven and an uncertain future by destroying the storybook, which is a fairly enormous sacrifice on her part since she was the only person there who had nothing to gain and everything to lose by its loss.

What bugs me it's not much what she did, it's what her mother did to her, what EQ did to her, how no one said anything when she finally revealed she was the one to setting EQ free, how Snow White in the end isn't punished in any way for being such a jerk towards even her own daughter, how the Headmaster was even bumblier than usual ("if Snow White said it, it must be a good thing!" Apple and Raven are both products of the damage their mothers did to them in different ways, which is something the books go into a bit more in my view.

In the book continuity, EQ is flat-out emotionally abusive to her daughter and while Raven loves her she can't trust her ever again after her upbringing, and the primary reason Raven rebels is because she wants nothing to do with her mother's precious legacy after realizing EQ loved her legacy a lot more than her daughter. She even reflects when she reads the storybook that she'd be good at being the evil queen, and she'd enjoy it, but she rejects it because she refuses to become a person like her mom. The cartoon continuity seems to follow this a little, but they don't really include how abusive EQ was to Raven as a child and focus more on Raven thinking it's unfair she has to do what EQ did than rebelling because she wants nothing to do with mommy anymore.

Snow White diverges a lot between the two, but the impact remains similar. In the books, she's a genuinely good parent but her prefect reputation meant Apple has been living in her shadow her entire life, constantly compared negatively to her perfect mom while her own talents and qualities are ignored; people don't care that Apple's a mathematical genius, they care that she's blonde when she should be a brunette. She can't wear her glasses because her mom didn't need them. Apple has it ground into her since she is a small child that she is letting EVERYONE down if she is different from mommy in any way. The situation's even worse in the cartoons where the exact same things apply, only Snow White is arguably an even bigger bitch than EQ, holding her daughter to impossibly high standards and blatantly living through her and treating her more like a part of her brand than her child. In the books, at least, Snow is supportive of Apple and encourages her, while in the cartoons she's a bad influence taking advantage of how her daughter idolizes her.

I'm not an apple hater. She's actually my favorite character. I'm simply saying that she and Raven are both shaped by the negative impacts their mothers had on them growing up, and I think in the cartoon continuity Raven is a good influence on Apple that counteracts the bad influence her mother's stage mom bullshit has been her entire life.

I still, however, feel DG was unnecessary and that Apple's character arc worked perfectly up to WTW before being regressed artificially for more drama.

Many here said that while in WtW Apple did what it was right, she still had to live with the consequences of an uncertain future plus her horribly stage mom still there in the picture. It's not an easy task changing your views of the world, not in a snap, especially for someone like Apple, who had been shaped to fullfill a specific role for all her childhood. Raven I think she knows this, and really always understood her, that's why she immediately forgives her: she knows very well how it is to make a choice under pressure (see Legacy Day). DG was in a sense a final, drastic but irreversible lesson about not letting others influence you. I think next time Snow White will try to interfere with her daughter's life, Apple won't let her doing it.

I think that's a good point. It's a lot easier to do the right thing when you see two people you care about right in front of you and someone else that is still an important classmate even if they're not a friend per se who were hurt by the book.

It's a lot harder to stay true to it when someone you trust and whose approval you desperately crave is pushing you the other way.

I do feel like it's likely Apple and Snow will have to have it out at some point, although I suspect it will be far less violent than Raven and her mom's confrontation. Snow herself is probably a little rattled by how her arrogance and desire to relive her high school days contributed to that disaster, and Apple calling her out would probably have a huge impact on her. EQ and Snow both, in my view, love their daughters, but they're blinded to the fact they've loved their legacies more this whole time and ignored the damage it did to Raven and Apple.

I really feel like this is another way that Briar was kind of usurped by Darling in Dragon Games.

Prior to DG, the sporty princess who was a sort of bridge between Apple and Raven was a role Briar had grown into; she initially disliked Raven and was best friends with Apple, but came to understand Raven's perspective as she was honest with herself about how she felt about her destiny and became friends with both.

She is a princess and someone who loves Apple (before you get on my case this isn't even getting into shipping, you can absolutely be straight and love your childhood best friend; Apple and Blondie have been with Briar since they were all babies, Apple is at least like a sister to her) whereas it's never exactly clear how well Darling and Apple know each other. An argument can be made that they were familiar since destiny engaged Apple to her older brother and they're both honor student princesses, but it's not the same thing. Briar could definitely have broken the curse, and in my view would probably have been the one to try if Darling was not there. I will concede that Darling probably had the advantage in one way in that she has an instinct for rescuing others and is quick to action while Briar is reckless while having fun but can freeze up under pressure.
