If there's not something amazing to grab my attention on Monday I really don't know if I can keep reading Endtown.

This whole arc the past few months was pretty dogshit with no real payoff. The only satisfaction we gain is knowing that there's no mutagenic virus, but otherwise I kind of hated checking for updates because I knew, I just knew, that they were still on that fucking boat. And after all of that, we get a super rushed ending to the arc that screams "I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE TO GO FROM HERE."

I think that at this point the Endtown blimp is crashing down with the force of Hindenburg. There is a lot of negativity and any criticism or concern is met with rebuttal of the other side that is nothing but covered ears and yelling.

As for the duds thing, I'm well aware of that. I've been reading the comic for years, so I'm no stranger to the groan worthy pieces of Endtown's history, but none of them lasted for months and months and months and Godforsaken months on end. They were typically just drab bookends or brief, boring beginnings, but typically they were not the meat and potatoes of an entire arc. I guess in a way the ending to this arc seeming so rushed is a blessing in that at least the story can move the fuck on, but it pains me to see Aaron's writing taking such a dip for so long.

I think Aaron got overwhelmed after setting up an arc that was WAY to big for him to handle. It happens. I think if we get a new set of characters, with new personalities, with new outlook on things, Endtown could be fantastic.

The problem we've been having in the tail-end of this arc is people actually arguing about the story. Primarily about how forced Wally and Kirbee's relationship feels.

Holly never really did anything terrible or unforgivable , she was just stressed out and snapped at the group. Even her mistake of hanging onto Clive was somewhat sympathetic.So when Wally and Kirbee kissed in the middle of trying to rescue Holly, it just made me dislike the both of them.

I'm not going to stop reading or anything, but this ending is just lame.

Eh, I think it's a little to forced to suddenly go from Holly to Kirbee. It's a little too smooth, while Endtown is usually very jagged in its emotional edges. The fact alone that waifufags are talking about their shipping is indicative of that, though. There was always an undercurrent of "I think this character is cute", but this shipping is something that only started recently.

And it's because of the comic. The comic encouraged this. The comic built the environment for this. And I blame Aaron for that, and I hope to Jim that this isn't the comic jumping the shark. I've never witnessed a webcomic jump the shark while I was reading it, and it's not a feel I like.

No, that's part of the way-too-smooth change. This is stuff we should have seen partly from Holly's perspective. Not in the flashback sequence, but in her treating with the ship. Now we've got a Dear John letter, and that's it. This encouraged waifu-fagging, because it allows people to project on the waifu characters.

Essentially this was an important, probably the most important, development of the character of Holly. And we're seeing it from an outsider's perspective. Holly's flashback is also the first one we're seeing without commentary from the main person in it.

Like I said, too smooth, too shoddy. The other flashbacks really hit me. They were haunting. I suppose this one was too, but the resolution fell flat, and it missed that special something.

This began since her neighbor turned into a snake and exploded, her fish baby died, her husband motion blurred then exploded, car-crashed twice, escaped an explosion, saw Farx die and got into Endtown by sacrificing a bunch of other people. Her time in Endtown just delayed it until The Milk Trial and going topside didn't help at all. Then yes, Unity was the last straw. After that she couldn't think straight at all. If we could see their sanity meters hers would be pretty much in the red.
