the worst season of South Park

by far
>>
They really need to drop this continuity bullshit and start doing standalone episodes again.
>>
>>88282320
You're just sore you got Rickrolled.
>>
>>88282320
>Rick Rolling in 2016 going into 2017

They are desperate to try and be relevant.
>>
what even were the member berries? they were just kinda there the entire time
and what about all that shit with star wars?
>>
>>88283883
People are thinking the planning for that fell apart. The build up wasn't very satisfying. I was really hoping for something more clever. The starwars thing is a reference to selling you nostalgia for things that were shitty and sucked. Like good old fashioned racism. You just don't 'member.
>>
They clearly put all their cards on the election results. No one at South Park Studios expected Trump to actually win.

Because of this, their entire ongoing plot has basically been completely thrown out the window since now they have to work around something they weren't planned for.

I feel like there was a whole other story behind this season and for a while it was building up to what could have been a really strong punch-line. But due to the change in recent events, South Park is trying desperately to keep their story from derailing and the quality of the rest of the season is suffering because of it.
>>
>>88283644
They did it 3 times in 3 episodes, back to back.
>>
>>88283624
If the episode title was anything to go by, they agree. "End of serialization plots ever" or something close to that.
>>
>>88283624
The continuity isn't the problem it's that they are also trying to put in current events and cliffhangers. The season After Kenny died and Butters and Tweek replaced them the show also had continuity only that time it was well done. The only time they had a cliffhanger they immediately answered all the questions the viewer had. The cliffhangers are especially annoying this season as they are trying to hook you with questions they won't answer given next episode as they are stretching the story out as much as they can..
>>
>>88286971
Will Trump ever Stop winning?
>>
The reset they did was the absolute laziest thing and it makes everything that happened this season pointless. Mr Garrison's plot was just as pointless this season as the last. He was involved but basically did nothing and he had no influence.

>>88287119
They still did not resolve a lot of things like the Memberries taking over.
>>
>>88283624
THIS!!
THIS SO MUCH!

looking at old story boards the plan that was to follow was this.
Hilary wins
"Oh Geez" goes on basically as shown.
Bills speech was to all the kids at the diner not just butters
the body snatching would happen to a good sum of the town
the boys would flee in mass to SpaceX trying to get off the planet away from the girls.
Trolltracer was JJ Abrams
The whole plot was Abrams became tired and broken giving the world nostalgia so he was going to stop change and leave them in a world of meberance
The berries were going to go all the way up to Hilary, WW3 would be starting
Kyle and ike would uncover the plot, most of the last episode would have stayed the same except the trolling was pissing off people so bad it was curing them of meber berries.
>>
>>88286971

The season was pretty bad before the election too. If anything, i found the ones after they stopped caring about the elections the best of the season (still not "good"). I will disagree with you, i dont thing ANY punchline, no matter how good, is worth 9 episodes of preparation.

>>88287144

There is a difference between continuity, and a arc season. Both season 18 and 19 had continuity, 19 even had a main theme, but all episodes besides the 2-parter finales had their own individual story. Begin, middle end, in one chapter.

This season was a 10-parter story, which wasnt even that great to begin with.
>>
>>88287336

I disagree with you about the end, but is really hard to say what would happen.

>Hillary wins
>Bill know shit is going down, he tries the hardest to placate her
>Oh geez is nearly identical anyway
>Hillary will use troll trace to start world war 3
>JJ abrams forsaw it and created the memberberries as some way of stopping hillary
>Hillary loses, memberberries may or may nor be destroyed in the process.

I also think that the finale was similar to what it was going to be, IE, internet exploding, but i though memberberries would help people to cope with living in a world without internet, even if temporally. Remember the big deal that was heidi's and cartman "internet death", and that the memberberry nostalgia was about a age without internet.
>>
>>88282320
It had some okay moments but was overall not enjoyable.
>>
>>88287485
he's basing that off the story boards where we have Hilary getting infected by berries.
>>
>>88287589

They exist? Mind linking it to me?
>>
I'm amazed South Park is still a thing to be honest.
>>
>>88287336
I really like the scenario of a world of 'membering as an alternative to dealing with the changes we have to encounter in our daily lives.
>>
>>88287202
>They still did not resolve a lot of things like the Memberries taking over.
They won. What exactly needs to be resolved?

This. They've become so "current event" topical that anyone watching in about 4 years will have no idea what is happening and find it difficult to relate to anything being said or done.

Only if you're from /pol/ apparently. I'm not sure how you can watch SP for all these years and believe they plan out everything and aren't just making shit up as it happens, that's essentially what transpired here like always with the key exception that they spread it out an entire season based on the election and not just make a single episode out of it like they always do. Now whether or not they had shit planed to where either Hilary or Trump won (they didn't) is thoroughly irrelevant because only they know and people are just making up assumptions on a show that's about being topical. I definitely agree that they should ease off on the heavy continuity next season and just go back to stand alone or mix a good balance like in season 18 instead of putting all their marbles into what's topical to prevent them from writing themselves. Is this the worst season? Hell no but it was still disappointing and much like the shitty election everyone is just glad its over.
>>
This season had 11 episodes.

6 before the election, 4 after it and the true episode 7 (hillary wins).

What M&T should do is to take some time to make the 3 remaining hillary eps, so we can see the true story, that would make 14 eps total.

They can release those 3 eps in the season 20 boxset as an extra.

I mean its only 3 eps, 3 more work weeks at most, and with most assets done already from the actual aired episodes, shit shouldnt be that hard.

Also better one of the missing plots involve the kids paying for killing cartman, even if its only a single scene like heidi's vag.

Cartman might be satan, but he didnt deserve that and the kids dont deserve to get away scotfree like they did.
>>
>>88288453
>Now whether or not they had shit planed to where either Hilary or Trump won (they didn't) is thoroughly irrelevant because only they know and people are just making up assumptions on a show that's about being topical.
They literally changed the title of one of their episodes immediately after Trump won.
>>
>>88290303
This!

They definitely had a plan for all season, but it unfortunately depended on hillary winning.

Thats why they must do this: >>88290276
>>
>>88290276
I don't know the description of those episodes doesn't sound that funny to me or that interesting. Not too mention the other plots still would have taken similar directions so you'd get a reshash of something that wasn't that good either.

I'd much rather they pretend this season never existed and we get a three-parter like Imiginationland instead.

What would you believe was the worst season?
Almost every season has made me laugh consistently. Even if it was making fun of me or whatever I believe in, I could still laugh. This one was so inconsistent with what was funny and what was just fucking weird that I can't even tell if they put in any effort. It's like half the season they talked about things that most didn't give two shits about. It's just too jarring at times, I don't know what else to call it.
And fuck memberberries. I swear they don't even know what the fuck they were doing with them. They built it up as some great threat, but half the time they aren't even mentioned.
I don't know about being the worst, but this season has been absolute ass.
I wish they'd just bring back in the superheroes and plug the game already.
>>
>>88290352
Its obvious some things would be the same. But definitely not all of them.

Also, making 3 extra dvd episodes doesnt mean that they wont do another season or less eps. South park started with 24 ep seasons, like the simpsons.
>>
>>88287485
>JJ abrams forsaw it and created the memberberries as some way of stopping hillary
that goes against the plot anon. It was established memberberries were trying to stop change
>>
>>88290379
Memberberries were originally a counter fight to Hillary. With her loss they had no reason to exist
>>
>>88282320
South cuck can suck a dick, matt and trey should just go ahead and retire.
>>
>>88290303
>>88290327
>They literally changed the title of one of their episodes immediately after Trump won.
So fucking what? You think they wouldn't have an alternate title if Obama didn't win? They ALWAYS do this shit.
>>88290379
>What would you believe was the worst season?
16 is the most recent one that came to memory where so much of it just didn't work out and they were mostly stand alone episodes
>Almost every season has made me laugh consistently
Then you're retarded then again there's some people who insist that season 2 isn't bad so I'm not surprised by this statement.
>>
>>88290276
>Also better one of the missing plots involve the kids paying for killing cartman, even if its only a single scene like heidi's vag.
There was nothing stated that they had to pay for shit that was just someting that came about with the girls subplot which leadto Cartman getting a girlfirend.
>Cartman might be satan, but he didnt deserve that and the kids dont deserve to get away scotfree like they did.
Cartman literally fucking kills people you stupid piece of shit.
>>
>>88290303
>>88290327
That doesn't mean anything. Its the same shit with the Obama episode where they had an alternate sequence with John Carey in case he one. A title change means nothing.
>>
>>88283624
continuity is fine

trying to make up continuity as you go along on a weekly basis is not fine
>>
>>88291909
1.- there was.

The cops and PCP were looking for the reason cartman left social media, they could have found out the boys.

2.- has he killed anyone in these last seasons? And for that matter, why the insults?

The boys were legit worried when they discovered cartman was innocent, they should have followed on that, but noooooo. The boys are right, cartman is a loser and the idea that he should have a gf is something wrong.

Again, cartmans crimes are undeleble, but if you are gonna ruin someones life:
-dont act out of fear of retaliation of a group of unreasonable bitches
- get your info straight and dont assume anything, even if your accused has history

Its justice what we are talking about here. Every single one of cartmans crimes has been paid off already, he didnt do anything here except being an idiot, he had nothing to pay.

Also, it might be a foreign concept to you but: good permanent things CAN happen to bad people. Hell, cartmans relationship is not a good thing anymore, so why complain about that!
>>
>>88290276
>Cartman might be satan, but he didnt deserve that and the kids dont deserve to get away scotfree like they did.

I won't lie, I wanted them to punish the girls in some way. The girls fingered Cartman as Skankhunt as well with no evidence and were threatening drastic action. Hell they also held all the boys responsible just because they laughed at some of the trolling.
>>
>>88290379
Mostly this. I only remember 3 solid moments all season, one of which was Randy's push against JJ Abrams which ended up going nowehre. The other two were Gerald trolling to Boston and Mr Slave and Kyle making a doormat out of Mr. Garrison.
>>
>>88292687
Agreed, there simply was no justice.

Im not against standalone episodes, but i hope before that, next season starts with an aftermath of sorts about all this.

>will the boys and girls reconcile?
>will the boys at least try to set things right with cartman? (he deserves it, he officially helped stop the trolltrace system after all)
>will the girls recognize they made a mistake? (Even PCP called them out on their shit in ep3)
>>
>>88290634
This is silly, they had the berries take over after trump won with a cliff hanger on their last scene, just wait for the finally, jeez.
>>
>that poorly written change of cartman's nightmare of being dumped by Heidi into "I saw woman for what they truly are"

Lame.
>>
The Dutch guy having a change of heart was stupid
>>
>>88288310
>They won. What exactly needs to be resolved?

Who is behind them?
>>
>>88293305
but that is exactly what women truly are
>>
>>88293441
Not the point. It literally went from "omg I don't want to lose her" to "wtf I hate women now" out of nowhere in the span of one episode

Still, it is interesting how Cartman is aware that he can't live without her while also not being into her anymore. very hormonal thing.
>>
>>88293392
Jj abrams, it was definitely implied he wanted someone like garrison win the elections, thats why he made that batch of memberberries.

Theres the interesting thing: the memberries CAN STILL be relevant, even if garrison won. They might do a plot with garrison learning to be a decent president on his own, and dumping the memberries away, if this was an evil jj abrams plot, they can still use him as a villain, as the creator of the memberries.

Also, we still dont know about 'the real old stormtroopers'.
>>
>>88287186
Only if he gets sicks of it.
>>
>>88293597
I agree it should have been a more gradual believable thing, but it makes sense cartman would eventually shit all over himself and ruin things. I wouldn't have minded if it had been in a more over the top and funnier way, though.
>>
this season is just a big over drawn movie
>>
>>88294300
Technically they arent ruined tho.

Cartman and heidi are still together, just that their dynamic will never be the same.

Also, this is a joke that cannot last long. Cartman is gonna break with her. Sooner or later.

Preferably sooner.
>>
Season sucked but I'm glad they're experimenting with new ideas. Last season worked pretty well, this season they gambled and lost.

Otherwise they're just going to become another simpsons or family guy with a formula and a paycheck for 10 weeks of work a year.
>>
>thinking your Gentlemans Club Bill Clinton plot idea was so funny that you dont change it whatsoever even though Hilary lost

just scarp the whole season
>>
>>88294410
They didn't change it because they finished it before the election was over. They had less then 8 hours to edit it before it went live. Since Matt and Trey hated Trumps guts it likely bruised them hard and they couldn't find the time and energy to edit out over half the episode
>>
>>88283644
Matt and Trey are a little more in-touch than to think Rickroll is relevant. It's just one of the more classic "trolling" things.

This has honestly been the most boring season of South Park. But, hey, since Butters has sworn off girls, does that mean Butter x Bradley will become canon soon?
>>
>>88290379
I hope we get to dump Cartman in a hurry and team up with the actual cool superhero, Mysterion.
>>
>>88296100
Who the fuck is Bradley?
>>
>>88296238
From the episode, "Cartman Sucks." Butters is sent to a pray the gay away camp and Bradley is one of the kids there, who ends up falling in love with Butters. It was pretty cute.
>>

>>
>>88294219
>'the real old stormtroopers
That's referencing specialist German troops during WW1, but Matt and Trey were probably trying to imply the Nazi SS guards and gestapo.
>>

>>

See, I want to agree with you with the first part. /pol/ is easily the worst board on this goddamn website, and the dipshits that browse there continue to shit on any thread with twenty different meaningless buzzwords and spew factually wrong shit constantly.

But when it comes down to it, the jokes feel out of touch and cringy. The joke worked for the first two episodes, and the clips with President Garrison are good, but they just kept using the same jokes for the rest
>>
>>88295461

>>

Have they just gotten too old to be making this show?
>>
>>88282320

Did everyone suddenly forget about season 18? This season was worse than 19 for sure, but it was better than season 18, because while this season was pretty meh overall, at least it wasn't a few good episodes (Handicar, Cock Magic) between awful episodes and an even more awful ending.
Season 16 was also pretty bad, Gone Ziplining and the Scoter/Honey Boo Bo episode were so bad. The only 'good' one I remember from that season was the one with Nicole and Token.

All indicates that next season will probably be good if patters are to be believed.
>>
>>88298747
I think they just got lazy and messed up their attempt at taking a slightly different approach.

Next time they will be doing something different to this season whether it's planning season arcs better or reverting back to completely episodic format
>>
>>88283624

Continuous seasons are probably easier to write
>>
>>88293597
MEMBER when they pulled that "GREAT CONTINUITY" last season with principal victoria!?

One episode was, i was not fired, it was part of a plan, let me explain....and then in the final episode went to "who was the asshole who fired me huh!?".

There was also no aftermath from last season. At all Other than PC Principal still being a principal.

These guys suck at it!
>>
>>88298881
Same with Randy being Lorde and all other continuing plots from season 18. The only thing that made an impact from season 19 is Garrison running for president and that was as pointless this season as last season as his involvement led to nothing.

At least Tweek and Craig are still together.
>>
>>88282320
I enjoy getting rick rolled. It's just an all around good song.
