>The Great Gazoo is working on his report card for the human race, and so far humanity has earned a big fat “F.” When the Church of Gerard starts selling Indulgences, Bedrock descends into violence and debauchery. Meanwhile, a miner gets trapped at Slate’s Quarry. Might there be an honest citizen in this burgeoning civilization willing to come to his rescue?

I love this comic so goddamn much. I'm mostly a batfag, so Rebirth has basically left me nonplussed - There are a couple of good comics, a few mediocre ones, and Batman is going down the drain fast. However despite all that, this continues to be one of the best comics I've ever read.

Okay, guys, super-serious point here. The Flintstones first trade paperback is already available for pre-order. I think that we can all agree that this is one of the best comics on the market today and desperately deserves all the support we can give it. I suggest that we all do the right thing here and pre-order that TPB so as to keep this thing alive. I'm gonna buy three copies, myself. One for my collection and two for gifts.

I'm not sure that prevents him from having fun with scientific miscalculations, as you're not bound by law to make every piece of media a topical statement, and climate change isn't the first or only instance of scientists telling us we're all gonna die.
>>
>>88237061

Compare the last two panels. The point is to show that Fred spent his entire day of grueling manual labor to create that pile of rocks for Mr. Slate. And in return, he gets a tiny version of that pile of rocks. By having both the money and the product be exactly the same, it shows the difference in how much the boss is making vs. the worker.

You appear to be literally retarded, friend.

You should see someone about that.
>>
>>88238835
No, he works at a [metaphor for workers receiving only a small portion of enormous profits]. They even mirror his pay pebbles with the rocks behind him.
>>
>>88236551
>preach-around
OK, this one actually got me.
>>
>>88239230
>>88256615
I imagine they're using the rocks to build everything in this brand new civilization they've created. And they're paying the workers with a small portion of the rocks they break up that can be traded for other goods since they haven't invented currency yet.

The invention of money seems like a ripe topic for a future issue.
>>
>>88252334
>90%

More like 98%, with remaining 2% bitching about the most inane shit possible.

Wait a second. His name is Sargon as in Sargon of Akkad who invented the concept of a proper standing army? I can't wait to see this.
>>
>>88258924
Sargon of Akkad is about 30,000 years later m8. He's Sargon because he's not Sagan

I never expected to get too hot and bothered from a character in this comic but fucking Sheila happened.
>>
>>88258945
I know he came later. I'm sure most of us understand that prehistory came before history.
I just retroactively know of carl sagan's name instead of growing up knowing about his name so it's easy for me to not connect the dots each time i see him. If it was Bill Nye i'd get it instantly. Carl Sagan just feels so ancient that it feels like knowing him would require actually having seen the original airings of Flintstones on live television which explains why he was chosen as the parody specifically.
>>
>>88258440
Nah, I can still see people bitching about "NOT MUH" and "DARKER EDGIER"

>climate change isn't man made.
Genghis Khan caused a serious climate shift by killing off a staggering number of people. The reforestation of formerly inhabited areas lead to a great winter that had drastic effects on history as we know it.

He did this with bows, arrows, fire, and swords.

Weirdly the duct tape thing bothered me too. I think it's interesting just from the perspective of like, the comic has all these clever little stand-ins and names and analogues so even though it's patently fuckin ridiculous they have a rock TV you buy into it, right? And if they don't keep it up with "duck tape" or whatever you're like, hey that's not right!

Because despite being drastically modernized, they're still written in character

Yes, but Grace Hopper found and named "Computer bugs".
>>
>>88265689
Maybe it means making the Flintstones a modern stone age family means that today's families are more regretful and self reflective?
>>
>>88265817
It's not that, but I think it's more that it was taboo to show that in cartoons back in the day. Just having an episode deal with the Rubble's infertility issues was pretty hard core for the time.
>>
>>88266122
Like the Simpsons. Show was edgy as fuck when it was released, but it's extremely tame by modern standards.

This reminds me of Dinosaurs.

I know but tell me, whats the point of ending a COMEDY show with sandess?

It was a satire show though, and it handled a lot of subjects most sitcoms don't touch with a 10 foot pole.

I wasn't exposed to him either until I was in my late teens and hanging out with a stoner girl a bunch. I've always kind of associated him with that since, but I understand he's a much bigger deal in America.
