I hope for something to happen to Shiro. Maybe not killed off, this really doesn't seem like that kind of show, but pulled off the stage for a while. I don't hate Shiro, but he seems like the type of character that would happen to, and it'd be interesting to watch the other characters react and develop as a result of his sudden absence.

If that does happen, I hope Keith doesn't switch Lions. Being pushed into a leadership position would be good for him and cause some good drama, but I'd be sad if he didn't stick with Red. But then, the designated leader not forming the head seems off. Guess they could shove Allura in there.

I hate the idea of Allura as a pilot though. I like her in her back line support role, hanging back with Coran and managing the castle. If she pilots Black I hope she sucks at it and gets replaced later by Shiro's return or some new character.

I honestly don't find the animation on voltron/the lions very satisfying to watch, so I've been really happy about how much action takes place entirely without them. I love giant robot fights usually, but none of the robots in this show have the sense of weight and size that is an important part of what makes that really enjoyable to me.

I want the paladins to just use different forms of the Liger Zero, is that so much to ask.

Yeah the robot fight scenes in this show are just kinda forgettable to me. They're not outright bad, but they don't stick with me. The best fight scenes are easily the ones with Sendak, but I guess it comes as no surprise Studio Mir is better at directing people fighting rather than robots.

Depending on how much inspiration this series plans to take from the original Defenders of the Universe, Shiro could end up dying/stepping down like Sven, who also wore a black suit (but piloted the blue lion). Keith would step up as leader and Allura would fill the space left in the team.

That almost seems like the direction they're leaning towards, but it's complicated when you consider the different roles in the original series.

Hunk plays it safe. Lance is a bad pilot who takes risks. Cases in point: the kick, the dive when he was racing Keith, etc. Hunk may lack skills but he's less likely to fuck things up because he's more cautious.

He's also a good sniper, but this is melee we're talking about. They're both bad, but Hulk could use his bulk to his advantage. Lance is a noodle.

Personally I want it to happen. But not until season 3 or 4. Everyone needs more character development. Just give them increasingly frequent background interactions. Comic relief, concern, bickering, whatever.

At the same time, have them gradually become more chummy over the course of the series but never outright flirting.

Maybe have Lance swear off romance after getting burned again somewhere down the line.

Then finally, toward the series finale, have all the other characters treat them like their obviously together before they have a chance to admit it themselves. Sort of mirroring the way everyone wasn't at all surprised about Pidge being a girl.

I'd prefer it not become the forefront of their character development. Just a cute background thing that gradually works its way to being part of their shared endgame. Better chance of it feeling organic that way.

I had it in my head that they just wind up spending a little more time together during missions and off-duty. Not boxed-in, stuck on an island stuff, but overarching gradual interaction. Lance learns to appreciate Pidge's intelligent approach to situations while Pidge starts to see the value in bravado in the face of an opposing force that common/mathematical sense would define as unbeatable.

You'd have the big falling out once you get to a certain zenith of course. Maybe one of the captured Holts gets turned into a Robeast after the Galra find out who Pidge really is and with the Paladins unable to destroy or subdue it with Voltron, Lance opts use like a souped up version of his freeze beam to encase the Holt Robeast in a diamond-hard, unmelting block of ice.

Pidge and him fight about it afterwards, hash things out, address the growing amorous tension between them, and that might be a good jumping off point for their relationship given the show's setting.

So the toy bios spell out the enhancements each lion is getting. Yellow can burrow. Blue gets an ice cannon (maybe ice cannonballs?). Green gets a cannon that can entrap stuff in vines and such. So what you saw was probably her firing point blank and catching herself in the splash damage.
