The most interesting thing about him is his dad being a shield agent (another idea stolen from Peter) I'd love some father son spy shit. The thing with Miles is he needs more aspects that set him a part besides being black. Ms. Marvel shows that minority successor heroes can do fine if they're written well. What unique things does Miles bring to the table besides his race? He's smart but not Parker smart, what does an above average kid do with his powers that a dork like Peter won't? He has parents, he has parents who know his secret, there's a lot of room for stuff there.

The other thing is moving out of the ultimate universe damaged his character a lot. Peter Parker was his Uncle Ben and now that's gone, he was a successor filling in the shoes of a beloved hero during a time when Captain America was president and his nation was at war. There's a shit load of story potential out of the window.

Pretty much every Spider-Woman outside of Jess has fallen into obscurity or has died. Anya Corazon has also been put on the bus with multiversal shenanigans in a subpar team book, the girl had her shot at the big time but just like Gravity or Alpha she failed to really take off. Spider-Gwen is more of a costume than she is a character and suffers from mediocre writing and crappy art, the only time Gwen's even relevant to the big picture is when she's dicking around in 616 before going back to her sandbox of a universe.

Symbiotes don't really count since they pretty much evolved into their own animal, but if we are counting them, only Venom and Carnage are remotely note-worthy. I doubt that Raze is ever going to see light outside of Carnage's current run, just like what happened to Scorn before her.

But even with all of that shit pushed to the side, we still have like a total of like four central "spider-adjacents" in 616 (Silk, Jess, Kaine, Miggy) which is more than enough to work with as far as the Spider-Family goes. Unless Miles evolves past the blank slate he is now, gets a personality, some actual weighted conflicts on top of some original villains (which will never happen for as long as he's in Bendis' hands) Miles will always be seen here as a redundant concept with nothing to offer outside of entire trades worth of filler and anti-climatic fights.

A new and more talented creative team pretty much solves every single problem I've had with Miles. If Silk can go from being an insufferable load with a backstory that would give most Mary Sues a run for their money to an decently put together on-going series, than so can he. Also I would get more pleasure from some writer blasting out Bendis by creating a run that becomes near definitive to the character he should have been responsible for rather than throw it out just to spite the fat fuck. It's like NTR for capeshit writers, its too good of an opportunity to pass up imo.

And that's on Bendis. We never see Miles just hanging with his folks or what Miles was like before the spider bit him. All we got is a generic teen hero being mentored by every adult hero and being told that he is a good boy for no reason at all. An old school Marvel writer would have written Bendis' entire work on Miles from Ultimate to the current run in one-third of the issues and would have gave him 3-5 original enemies with the issues he had left.

I think te Spider-Women fail as a concept because they always half-ass their costumes and they always fail to become iconic. Spider-Gwen is a step in the right direction because they actually went with the full classic spidey mask instead of just eyes and leaving the hair and mouth out.

Silk has a pretty cool costume too, but fuck that scarf.

You mention Raze but forget Toxin? He might not be exactly noteworthy but as long as Eddie is his host, his staying power increases dramatically.

There's also the matter of them literally having nothing to do with the man they spun off of. I barley remember any meaningful interactions Pete has had with his female counterparts, If you're lucky you might get a joke panel or an abridged team-up but it usually ends there before they head off to do god knows what with a storyline that goes nowhere.

And that's not even looking into their convoluted backstories with Jessica being the biggest offender.

There's only so much I can condense into one post, but like you said, Toxin's longevity is entirely dependent on Brock. The moment he trades it out for a new pair of symbiotic duds, it's back to the bench with him. Also I'm still salty about Pat being killed off panel and the Father/Son dynamic he had getting flushed down the drain just to give Brock another symbiote after he lost Anti-Venom to bad writing. It keeps me from fully enjoying the Cthulu Carnage craziness to the fullest.

Venom Vol 2 (Agent Venom) consistently sold above 20k and went on for 42 issues. And correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Agent Venom cancelled not because of low sales but because everything was being cancelled or ended at the time? It was the start of Marvel "rebooting" everything leading up to Secret Wars (this was when Spider-Man ended on issue 700).

Venom should be considered a spider plain and simple. It has kept the spider emblem since the very beginning and through numerous hosts, plus the ever present use of webbing for travel and fighting.that he actually bothers to colour white like Spidey's

Anti-Venom is, well, the mirror of Venom, so the same applies.

All other symbiotes are their own thing with maybe the incidental use of webbing type travel and the almost universal inherited trait of Spidey eyes.

Actually, Carnage-Man could still be in the comic. Ultimate_Kardas, the guy who made the Symbiote Squad cover as well as many of the other Marvel Rebirth covers, wrote what the plot would be for the first 3 issues and he finds a way to bring back Carnage-Man. Meanwhile, while Flash and Pat are getting to know each other, Eddie isn't feeling too well from the symbiote separation. At the same time, Scorn appears and has her robot arm fashioned into a sonic canon, and attacks everyone with it. She's here because she doesn't like symbiotes either and is gonna bring them all in or something. However, before she can fire another blast, everyone turns to see Eddie transform back into Antivenom. Cliffhanger ending to issue 1.

Instead of just using illusions, he's bringing in real monsters and creatures from other universes in his robbing schemes. The symbiotes all decide they should stop Mysterio considering innocent people might get hurt, and Mysterio, knowing he's outmatched, flees, and activates something that sucks all the creatures back into their respective dimensions. The symbiotes agree to stop fighting since they can see that they're all good guys, and Scorn leads them back to her temporary base of operations, so they can track down Mysterio. At the base, Scorn reveals she also has Lasher the dog (with 4 of the symbiotes of Mercury team), and used him to track down the other symbiotes. Lasher does not like Antivenom, considering Eddie's the one who killed Hybrid. Anyway, they track down Mysterio, but he's prepared for them this time, and says he knows exactly how to fight them. He raises his arms and tons of portals open, with tons of Carnages from different realities popping out. End of issue 2.

Okay going to have to split Issue 3 into two posts.

>Issue 3 starts with a big splash page of a ton of Carnages. Carnage from 1602, Carnage possessing silver surfer, Spider-Carnage, Superior Carnage, Ultimate Carnage, just a ton of them. They don't know why they're here all of a sudden, but they see the symbiotes and immediately attack them. A huge fight breaks out that probably takes up most of the issue. Antivenom is depowering as many as he can, but it would take too long to completely depower each one, so he's basically just stunning each one as fast as he can. Scorn is blasting sonics, but they're starting to overwhelm her, and the same goes for Flash, Toxin, and Lasher but they all have experience fighting him. Mania is struggling because she's still the newest one, and one Carnage manages to get the upper hand on her and knocks her down. He goes to deliver a killing blow, but is suddenly slammed away by another Carnage. The Carnage says something like "killing a young girl? I knew I was bad, but was I really that bad?" He helps her up and they continue fighting. At this point, Scorn devises a plan, but she needs Mysterio's tech. Toxin grabs him by the fishbowl head and grabs a Carnage by the head, and bashes their heads together, knocking them unconscious. While the others cover her, she uses her arm to interact with the tech, and opens all the Carnages portals that start sucking them all back to their universes.

The epilogue is a figure on a rooftop watching them, commenting on how Flash has found some new playmates. It's Jack O Lantern.
