Realistically, the notion of quality when it comes to swords is pretty overplayed. If the sword is sharp, it'll cut. If it's not, it won't. If you're dealing with armor, then what matters is force, and force in line with the sword isn't going to break the sword. Keep in mind that people fought effectively using swords made of medieval steel, so even if it's cheap, a modern sword is going to be fine. Having the ability to use it is a different story, of course.

All you neeed in any situation is a change of warm clothes, a sturdy knife (or two), a tool to sharpen it, a refillable/heatable flask/bottle of water, firestarter kit (that magnesuim rod with a scraper), a pot, flashlight, portable radio, spare batteries, optionaly a handbook about plants/animals/languages in the region you are traveling in, and as luxuries a sleeping bag and universal valuable for bartering (gold, jewelry).

All that shit easily fits into a normal backpack (sans maybe the sleeping bag) and allows you to handle basicly any situation (within reasonable limits ofc, they wont do shit if you decide to bitchslap a god) in a few hours, from setting traps, boiling water to drink, to carving shit you need, maybe sell, or seting up camp/shelter in an alley, mabye grouping up with other drifters, to freelancing as dishawasher for the days food.

I'm a recreational longsword fighter, so I'd have some light armor and an upgrade with the sword she had.
No survival stuff more extreme than my tent and sleeping bag, though. Maybe some bug spray. Though I'd make a quick stop for hiking shoes and sturdier jeans. I'd take a nice outift too if I expected to meet gods. I doubt she expected any to just give her a custom party dress.
