Because when you get into anti-hero and anti-villain it seems so muddled to me.

DOOM is typically a guy who does shitty things but because he thinks they're truly what's best. He seeks to take over the world because he believes he's the one man who can make it a utopia.

An anti-villain is someone that acts heroic despite villainous ends.

The honorable knight working for the evil king or the gentleman thief forced to combat worse criminals than himself to make a buck are examples of anti-villains.
