So, /co/, what're ya buyin'?
>>
Besides grabbing the new volume of Copra I don't think I'll be buying any more comics, besides my pull list, until after the holidays
>>
>>88076868
For the holidays I'm getting

Punisher Max Complete Collection 3 and 4
Sandman 6-10
Hellblazer 6
Gundam Origin 4
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
The Killing Joke
Kingdom Come
Hellboy Library Edition 1
>>
I wish I had the confidence to start collecting real copies but my stock broker would not allow me.
>>
>>88077638
I feel ya.

I got...

Teen Titans Vol. 2-5.
Nightwing Vol. 5.
Robin Vol. 1-3
Green Arrow/Black Canary: Road To The Alter
Mother Russia
Dead Body Road

on the way. I wish I could find some Mobile Suit Gundam Wing books.

>>88077697
Just do it.
>>
>>88077697
Shelves with comics on them look more impressive than ones with books on them.
>>
been on a silver age kick lately. recently picked up World's Finest 173 - 1st silver age Two-Face, and Showcase 80 - 1st silver age Phantom Stranger
>>
>>88077852
I've been wanting to pick up all those gold/silver/bronze age Omnis DC has been releasing.
>>
I need new shelves so I can organize things better.
>>
>>88077893
yea, I'm really looking forward to the batman brave and the bold omnibus. That run has some of my favorite Neal Adams work
>>
>>88077970
And I need better shelves. I've got an Ikea thingie I salvaged from the trash that looks like a pile of TV screens, you can't fit neat rows into it because there's so many walls in it.
>>
>>88077970
I'm heading over to Ikea soon to take a look at these. They're tall and seem like perfect storage for comics; I just hope they're big enough for some of the hardcover, large DK things I have.

>>88077989
I agree. I hope more heroes get some, like, Green Arrow.
>>
>>88077989
It also has all the issues in the out of print Jim Aparo collection

Now DC needs to reprint the Englehart/Rogers stuff

Black Friday stacks.

The first two are from TFAW, the one on the right is local bookstore.

A bit butthurt that TFAW had 60% off selected items for Black Friday and then for the same items, 80% for Cyber Monday. Oh well.

I put that shelf up in the middle of a room as separator and store books in it, most regular books are short enough so that you can use that shelf to store them from both sides, pretty practical.

Hoping it lives up to the hype. The hardcover is beautiful.
>>
>>88078267
Pretty much, except for Demo and AR
They are pretty great, but pretty expensive too. I wouldn't justify buying them at their $50 MSRP. Only bought because of the sale.
>>
>>88078063
checked the height of the separate shelves just now, it's roughly 33cm which is pretty much exactly 13" if that helps you.
never had any problems storing my big books in it.
>>
>>88078388
Nice! I have a few of the hardback books, as I said, about DC, Man of Steel, etc, and they all seem to be 10.4 x 1.6 x 12.6 inches, from what Amazon says, so it looks like it'll be perfect for storing books.
>>
>>88078422
yeah they should fit. and even if they don't you could still place them on top then
>>
>>88078063
Mine is kind of like this, I hate it because I need to keep some books behind others to fit them all in.
>>
>>88078463
I'm looking into buying two; one for DC and for everything else. My current shelf is a mess, though.

>>88078457
True. I have them laying horizontal on my shelf right now and some still in storage
>>
>>88078063
The biggest problem I have with shelves is depth. I've got a couple shelves I bought for books and DVDs that I now use for storing trades and manga, but even trades have about a 1-inch overhang. I've got one narrow shelf that's deep enough to house my larger books but it's pretty much full.

>>88084149
Fucking right little score there, Anon! Zenith has to be my favourite Morrison work, probably solely down to nostalia but damn that Yeowell art, that deep chiaroscuro and jagged, slashy brushline is a thing of utter beauty...
>>88085666
Never rated Shakara at the time it started in the mag. Just felt like plot-less, gratuitous violence, desu. As for Missionary Man, the drawing is REALLY nice but don't expect much in the way of backgrounds! That was a BIIIG weakness in Quitely's early stuff. I remember being fucking blown away when I got that issue with the first M.M, there were a few really good illustrators coming up at that time...Quitely's background and architecture had gotten really good by the time of, oh God, Whatsherface, the Sino-Cit female judge he did a run on, there was a dope scene of her riding her bike through fucking mall walls and shit but his Missionary Man stuff?....lotsa unexciting desert backgounds and his ability to place characters in believable environments (I'm thinking specifically of the big bar-room firefight scene) was sorely lacking. Just, like, the characters shooting at each other against a lovely purple-coloured background with maybe a chair or a table....his character designs and overall style was a real breath of fresh air amid all the Biz copyists infesting Toothy/The Megazine at that time, though. If you're a Quitely completest i'd say go for it.

And my recent purchase, missing is Idés Noir by André Franquin which is on it's way. Adlibiris had 20% off everything so I decided to complete som series that I started.

Next I'm going to complete the S&L Moebius translations, because Dark Horse decided NOT to include the last part of the World of Edena in their collection for some reason. Either that or get my hands on some Boucq or Rosinski stuff.

I'm assuming they're not flipped. That practice died out a while ago.

My favorite authors are Piers Anthony, Ray Bradburry, Terry Pratchett, Kurt Vonnegut, Koontz, Tolkien, C.S. Shutter is urban fantasy adventure comics. Like if Indiana Jones was on a ton of LSD and hallucinating whimsical creatures and Richard Scarry books

Octopus Pie is a webcomic about Brooklynites

Deadly Class is if Hogwarts was a school for assassins and all you did was play hooky

Pretty Deadly is a Kelly Sue Deconnick book that is actually good because Emma Rios is on it.

Prince of Cats is Romeo and Juliet in Brooklyn but focuses on Tybalt's story.

Head Lopper is what happens when you mash Conan and Hellboy.

I'm going in blind on Wandering Island

I'm really glad I only payed 6 bucks for KSBD because I've seen what the book looks like and the 15 dollar price tag is a rip off for it's size.

>good place to start for a legion noob?
it's so silver age-y and campy you'll probably have a lot of problems, but it establishes a lot of Legion lore (which is routinely explained in flashbacks in later issues).
But if you pre-order it right now you can still skip out of it a day before its release (just make sure to remember the date) so you don't have much to lose.
archive 1 and 2 (the omni contains archive1-3) are available as minutemen scans so maybe you want to take a look first.
>>
so that adam strange omni pretty much collects the first archive and the first half of the second archive. that means they'll probably release another omni to collect the rest of the second and the whole third archive.

How many issues will it be? 224 pages, so 9-10 issues.
It is only 18 issues, so they should put it into one thick paperback and be done with it.
But no, they have to release half now and then never collected the second half.
>>
>>88110669

The writer later admitted it was something he used to do...was it all written by Ostrander?

>>88121477
Oh I don't think it's unfair to charge that much, it's just that it's a whole different thing from "I feel like picking up this new series, let me just buy the first couple volumes for $10-20 each" versus dropping $200 minimum.

An alternative is going to a Con and getting a cool sketch by an artist you like for less, then framing it... but overall that'd probably cost more

If you look at artists instagram accts and other social media stuff they do sell things, just find something you like and then frame it yourself!

I'm just recently starting to buy comics. My friend let me read his trade of Chew, and I'm hooked. I just found it ended last month, what a coincidence! Anyway, I'm wondering if I should go ahead and get the smorgasbord editions or hold out for an omnibus? Is 60 issues too many to expect them to fit into on book?
>>
>>88127241
60 issues is impossible to fit into one, really.
that's 1320 pages. works for regular books (barely), but impossible for comics due to different paper, binding technique, being cheap-asses etc
that's at least 2 books, more likely 3, if at all.
Chew is a book by Image, the creator owns it, Image just publishes it and the creator has to pay for the books themselves before they are sold, he also decides on the formats of the books released, so the easiest way to find out about any upcoming plans is maybe to send a mail/tweet/whatever message to John Layman and ask him about it.

https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/chew-vol.-12-tp
that's the latest upcoming release I could find.

so yeah, either collect the tpbs, or wait for that last, what did you call it, smorgasbord edition to be released. don't hold your breath about an omni, it's not really a popular format with Image comics except for Rick Remender stuff for some reason

Ordered new Saga Omni, next Invincible, basically keeping up with my current collections,
Glad we'll be seeing new Hellboy and BPRD HC this spring, still praying to the Dark Gods for a Punisher Max Omni or two.

some of my favorite little items are hard to see; Kickstarters of Unsounded Vol 1 and 2, KSBD (it's fucking tiny), Daisy Kutter, that sort of thing.

Well it'll have better binding than the originals which were glued, also there might be more supplemental material.

I have to ask, what is in DC Absolute editions that warrant the price. The only books I've been interested in are books I already own the TPB for and can't see spending 2-3 times what I already paid.

The whole mess, which includes binders full of Pathfinder pawns (also a Fa/tg/uy)

What's with Fantastic 4 ordering?
Kick-Ass 1&2 are out of order too. Do you do this to torment your OCD friends?

I own the Absolute Kingdom Come and Justice because I love Ross art, and it's oversized and on super good quality paper.

they're worth it for the art, that's about it imo. Like yeah they're well made books of course but I don't see the point in owning a book that large if you don't like the art. Absolute ASS is amazing and better than the trade because I love Quitely's work on it but I wouldn't get Absolute V for Vendetta despite liking the comic a ton because I don't view David Llyods art that highly

Hadn't noticed. It's from my pals coming over for movie night and screwing things up.

Ho, right, thanks! Never really watched South Park but the film with Saddam Hussein and Satan as lovers and the war with Canada was fucking absolute comedy fucking gold.

I thought it was a reference to the blurb, Groening's a well-known supporter of "alternative" comics and he went to college with Lynda Barry and Charles Burns.

Wow, is that just personal taste, like you respect Lloyd's stuff but it just doesn't do it for you, or ya just think he's a shit artist? Which he totally isn't, he's one of the best mainstream comic artist the U.K has ever produced.
