Thoughts? Ratings? I thought it was a bit predictable, solid and fun though. The problem was there was a serious conflict of tone - do we have the celebratory 100th episode? Or a crossover? Both together kinda distract from either.

This also, if they're trying to bring back in their audience of nerds/folks who watch the other shows, this wasn't a great example of how Arrow's become great again.

That said, that Supergirl/Flash wombo combo got me wet.

I liked it. Would've liked it more if Ray had his actual fiance with him rather than Felicity, just because it would've amped up his stakes and made him leaving more of a show on how he's a logical guy who is willing to accept being in an illogical place.

Also wished that Deathstroke got unmasked. Seeing Slade shit talk Ollie like Meryln and Darhk did would've been great.

In general, I liked seeing the parents again. Wish Walter was there, but at least he got mentioned. I wanted the Dominator ship to be a little more imposing than just hallways, and the nerf gun looking energy thrower was just silly.

Cisco was fun, and he had some good commentary on names/tech guy making movie references being a cliche. Wild Dog didn't really get an arc, but I do like how nobody is super on board with Supergirl just because she's present.

Looking forward to tomorrow. I can't say I'm loving Invasion, but I do like having a reason to feel some hype to watching every show if only to see how they play into one another.

Good episode overall but they could've improved certain bits to make the stakes more personal.

Example:
1) Ray could've fought Hawkman because he boned Hawkgirl when Hawkman was not-dead-but-kinda-dead
2) Diggle could've fought Andy

I watched Supergirl when CBS still had it. I kind of liked it.
But I never really picked it up again after CW picked it up, even thought I thought it sounded promising. Since I missed the premiere and have been kind of busy with unrelated stuff.

They probably wrote the episodes before the got the contracts ironed out, when they weren't sure they'd get access to them on the regular so they didn't want to risk a major plot or episode if they couldn't get the actors.

I think Kara is still in Space and Clark hasn't started his career yet. Remember The Flash was already an altered timeline from the start of season 1 because Thawne moved up the creation of the accelerator as Wells to get home.

Remember, Thawne was in such a hurry to get back home that he jumpstarted Barry's powers by five years.

This means he is the first "cape" to come out to the public, rather than how Superman should have been first.

So the events that transpired in the original time have yet to happen.

Honestly I've been enjoying season 5 quite a lot so far but this episode was a complete mess. The flash installment was better.

It was way too fanwanky. As much as I enjoyed seeing Robert and Moira again and there were some nice moments, many of the callbacks were really, really forced.

The writing was also extremely terrible (Hot Dog doing the 180 on hating metas after 1 scene, thea wanting to stay in the alien projection world, hacking alien tech etc)

I didn't see this amazing performance by Amell everyone was talking about as his best ever performance in Arrow. It was no better or worse than usual and he has done better acting in the past (Tommy's death scene, confronting Lance etc)

Finally, no Manu. They used Deathstroke to get people hyped again and again it was just a faceless stuntman in the costume.

The Supergirl episode was great. But that probably has mostly to do with how they didn't cripple Supergirl's regular storyline whatsoever with her episode, and just left signs of Flash/Vibe throughout the episode and had a short but heartfelt reunion near the end after the regular story elements of the episode had been resolved.

Really. Supergirl has become really good in general.

Yeah well fuck that crap I agree. But it doesn't take up that much time. In comparison to the relationship drama and gay agenda pushing of Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow it's really subdued. It also doesn't feel as forced.

But you're really only attacking a tiny aspect of the episode. Mike is fucking great. They're doing good stuff with J'onn. Their take of Henshaw is still fun even if they haven't done much with him yet. They're developing the setting further and making aliens feel more personal and more a part of the setting.
It's good stuff. I will defend it.

Only the Flash episode is required watching for context. From what I heard, Supergirl has minimal crossover material and most of it gets retreaded in Flash.
