The only way most people become super heroes is by being a genius and creating their own powers, or by having some sort of power/strength enhancements. Of course people that make it to the top are going to be exceptional. Think of how many failed I want to be Iron Man experiments exist in the basements in the MU. The comics aren't about the hundreds of idiots that failed, of course it's going to be about somebody who actually pulls it off. Of course the person that pulls it off is going to be a genius.

That's actually not quite true. The MCU Wasp was Hope Pym, a character who already existed prior to that. Pic related is the comic version of Hope Pym, a character from the now dead MC2 line of comics.

Nadia Pym is them making up a brand new character for movie synergy instead of using the character the one from the movie was based on in the first place.

Probably to avoid having Hank and Janet with a kid together in the main 616 universe, given how much they're pushing to make Hank out to be a villain.
