Let's start things off with an interview from the creators, Maryse Dubuc and Marc Delafontaine (Delaf and Dubuc are their pennames). Yes, this interview was originally a page in Spirou magazine that was entirely in French. This is the reason why it took me so much longer than I thought to get this storytime going today, since I not only had to recover my old fonts and resources, but I got the insane idea that you guys would want to read this in "magazine" format. I hope it was worth the work insofar as you enjoy it.

I'd like to say first off that you NEED to read this interview and temper your expectations for what's about to come. What follows will NOT be The Bellybuttons: Book 8. I know people on /co/ love the dramatic twists the story has taken (I'm one of them!) and deride the old gag-based format of the original comics, so some will be disappointed that this new spin-off book coming out will be almost entirely the latter and none of the former. This interview will explain what's going on with that.

Apologies in advance if there are typos or formatting errors, I tried to look things over but I didn't want to wait any longer to post this.

Yeah, maybe it's just me but the humor seems... refreshing? And funnier than it was in the early books, too. I think know what Delaf and Dubuc meant now when they said they felt things were getting too serious, they seem to have been saving up a lot of their A-list goofy dialogue for this one. And I hope it comes through properly in my translation, by the way!

Thanks, it took me a lot of brainstorming and over a dozen rejected titles before I settled on that one. I wanted to be sure it hit (almost) the exact same marks as the French one did and I think I succeeded. The only thing missing is the implied edge of "meanness" that "vacheries" carries, but it's about 90% of the way there.


And thanks to everyone whose had kind words to say and hype to express, I'm glad the delay did not diminish the amount of Bellybuttons fans around here, and relieved there's not too much disappointment that we'll have to wait until 2018 to see the continuation of the main series. I for one am definitely enjoying HoH for what it is so far.

Each week I'm going to reupload all the pages up until that point in order and I'm reserving the right to tweak things over that time there will be updated/corrected pages released along with new pages each Wednesday. Basically this means any proofing will be useful immediately.

I think sadly you'll have to consider Innomables dropped, I would still possibly like to do it at some point but with less time to dedicate to it and lots of new publications in my running series (Sambre, Wake, Bellybuttons) I can't see myself getting to it any time soon. If nobody else does it in the meantime, I may pick it back up some day, though.

I guess she could be, but she hasn't shown undoubtable genuine attraction to boys before. She canonically could not get it up for Megan's brother even if she tried, and it's been speculated she was only ever interested in John John for status reasons, which seems to now be confirmed. She could conceivably be attracted to a guy someday and turn out to be bi, but evidence points to her being a lesbian. I doubt even she really knows, though.
