It's that time of year again.
So grab some coco, turn on the Christmas music, and hang out with some /co/mrades as we share stories and get into the holiday spirit.
As previous years share your Amazon wishlist and some random Anon may purchase a holiday gift for you.
All lists: pastebin.com/i76p6g59

To get your wishlist code open you wishlists on Amazon, around the top right there's a share option that will open a window with a link in it, we just need the bit after the com/w/
Got home just time to get this done.
Previous thread: >>87999992
On the first day of christmas /co/ gave to me:
So, how was everyone's day today? Mine started off like complete and utter shit but really picked up to be something great in the end. Didn't get the movies I wanted but found a book set I couldn't have picked if I did.
I wish I saved more of Scribs images. I'm saving Santapede for a special day.
For some reason I can't stop thinking about the fact that, in all likely hood, quite a number of anons from last year are no longer with us, and we'd never know.
But enough of those drab thought! Tell me, what's the first comic you read and really enjoyed/connected with?
>>88047169
>So, how was everyone's day today?
I ate my second panettone of the season, so it was a fabulous day. Finished reading The Incredible Hercules: Smash of the Titans, and now I'm working my way through some B.P.R.D.
Does anyone know where I can watch Olive the Other Reindeer? I haven't seen it in a long time and really want to see it this Christmas.
>>88047623
Kisscartoon is the easiest option I know of.

Mainly some books and movies I have had my eyes on. Wish I could do more to give to the anons who make this place actually entertaining sometimes.
>>88047683

The question is just did she do it herself, or did she hire someone to do it.

Agent Coulson ;)
>>88049835
I've liked him ever since the 90's series. He's great because he's such a low tier villain that gets made fun of a lot, but he actually puts up a decent fight against Spidey a lot of the time. Plus, the wave of Marvel Legends also comes with a Black Suit Spidey, so I can even reenact the "Chase you to the ends of the Earth!" scene.
>>88050402
Only if when you knock him out he comes back with full health.
>>88050219

Hey folks, I need a bit of help, kinda new to the Christmas /co/ threads. When a code in the Pastebin says, "needs Address" I'm not certain what it means, is it Shipping Address? And where does one post it?
>>88054665
It means that the wishlist doesn't have a shipping address associated with it on Amazon itself.

This reminds me of the recent horror anthology movie "Holidays". For the Christmas segment,Seth Green sets out on Christmas Eve to find an elusive VR toy for his son. His wife constantly berates him and thinks he's a wimp, so when he sees the guy who cut him off for the last toy at the only store open on the holiday lying in the streets due to heart problems, he has a momentary lapse in judgment and steals the toy from the man as he lays dying with his much-needed heart medication lying just out of reach. His wife and child are thrilled with his success, but he is plagued by guilt over his actions. At the urging of his son to try the toy, he discovers it replaying his actions from the previous night and is horrified. Later, his wife comes onto him with renewed passion after seeing the same sequence of events in the helmet because she thinks is shows he's grown a backbone. Later, he puts it on to watch in horror as his wife, emboldened by his actions, murders her boss in a secluded location for passing her over for a promotion.

It was one of the better segments. The Father's Day segment, featuring a young woman following instructions from a taped message from her supposedly long-deceased father to join him in the last place she ever saw him, built suspense very well and the Easter one was just creepy as hell, with a little girl, confused by Easter's mixed representations between a newly undead Christ and the lovable Easter Bunny, waking in the night to discover a horrifying hybrid of the two in her home.

The first super hero comic I really remember reading were random issues of Robin and Spider-Man I would get from the grocery store in the 90's. I vaguely remember the Robin issue had him in Russia or something beating up a bunch of slavs and some red-headed girl showed up and kissed him. Spider-man was about the Vulture but I'm not sure what else.
Oh! I also remember I had a Wolverine comic where there was some guy in a brown trench coat with rotini pasta hair and another grey skinned vampire guy pursuing Wolverine in the snow.

Hey Johnny, great to see you back.I know you're probably in lot of pain right now, but from my experiences it's maybe better that it happened now than further into the season. I was the anon who got broken up with a couple days after Christmas last year, and the awkward explanations that I had to give to everyone who had heard me raving about her a few days prior pretty much broke me. If you need any of us, we'll be here for you. /co/ is love, at least within these threads.2MOV0MGY5304H

THANK YOU SDU!
Speaking of Christmas song, when teaching my Japanese students yesterday they mentioned 12 Days of Christmas and asked if I knew it. When I said yes they all started to sing some version I had never heard before Hawaii themed. I was just as surprised they all knew those lyrics as they were to hear that the 12 Days of Christmas isn't a Hawaiian song.

Don't worry about. Seems they allow you a free trial every year. Last year I made the mistake of using it on that stupid prime day bullshit.

It is as always a mixture of both. I use a combination of stenography/riddles. I'm working to make the technical handicap smaller, but it will always be required. I won't be using GPG this year however I will be using something zips with passwords so that technical hurdle will be easier.
>>88064631

>All the Wookiees in Kochirho liked Life Day a lot

Thanks bros. Hopefully I'll have more time to Storytime in these threads as the month goes on
Oh shit, Hi guys. Happy holiday season.
http://amzn.eu/jeyxWxg
I'm sitting down to play tonight, will hopefully have some recordings for the thread. If anyone has requests, let me know.I know a shitload more religious hymns than secular songs, so you'll have a better chance with requesting something more traditional
Woke up sick, so that's fine.
On the plus side it gave me an excuse to read comics and play games.
Then I felt worse so I stopped.
How's everyone today?
Hopefully this posts this time...
First Xmas puzzle should be up in about 20 minutes. It will not require any special tools other than 7zip an internet connect and a love of ciphers!

I'd certainly welcome any and all help/suggestions for improvement from all /co/mrades.
Ah, November 30th.
We're getting dangerously close to crypto time...
A very short, 6-page storytime I like to call "The origin of Santapool"
It's not at all Christmas related, but when the pic was used for last years' threads OPs (or the ones two years ago? Three? Iunno anymore), people would ask where the picture of Santapool came from, so here's the answer.
It was originally a part of Deadpool #1000, a special released back in 2010

Auld Lang Syne is a traditional Scottish song, if I remember correctly, and is played more around New Year's, but I still love it.
>>88067372

Man, last year I think I got to the last puzzle before I got completely stuck. Super fun, but now I'm working and I worry I won't have time.
>>88068013
theres really no way to tell. every year theres people who drop their lists never to be heard from again, and sometimes people even try to put in multiple lists. all you can do is try to wade through the grinches.
>>88068013
I don't think you could ever really know unless everyone who bought something was ID'd when they posted in the thread about it
>>88068013
Last year it was not a great ratio, as best I could figure. I don't know how many SDU gifted, but it was insane. I did 12, though I'll be scaling back this year. A few other heavy hitters as well.
I think I gifted... two last year?
Along with tossing out various digital codes.
While there are people who toss up their lists and just vanish, I guess I'd prefer to believe it's just anons who aren't talkative rather than just people who want something and never show up again.
>>88066955
I have to hire people all the time over qualified for the jobs we offer. People tend to be desperate here. I work at one of the pharmacies mentioned above. Shit second job but at least I have it. Pays for the metrocard.

Sorry man. Gotta have menial shit there too.
>>88068817
I posted my wishlist in the first thread, I don't like to plaster it all over. I've storytimed a few things here, waiting until December to start buying things for others.
>>88068487
there'll be repeater "listers" every year because if they pop in at all they know we want to try and gift everyone no matter what. i imagine the ratio of listers to gifters is a lot higher than we think. like i said just gotta try and wade through the grinches and hope their hearts grow 3 sizes.
>>88068920
As far as I know you're allowed to post your list once per thread. I had put mine in my name before but I felt that was violating the spirit of the rule so I removed it.
>>88068920
you can post it once per thread even if youre gifted so dont feel bad about doing that.

>>88071168
It;s not like it helps, since I figure everybody who wants to gift others would just check the pastebin, but it's not like it hurts anybody. And if somebody who forgot to set the third party address thingy reposts their list, they can be told to fix that shit.
Also, I personally always try to ask for recommendations based on the stuff I already have on my wishlist. Which reminds me: 2VJQYBU5P3M1A at co.uk, I'd be interested in any ideas anyone might have, because i'm trying to broaden my comic book horizons from being a Marveldrone.
>>88071168
It's considered good etiquette to post your code no more than once per thread.
But the codes I'm talking about isn't my Amazon gift list code.
Via bundles and other purchases I end up with various digital redemption codes for games and movies that I don't want. I try and toss them out every year as I have them.
Found some codes.
So let's do a small giveaway.
Pac-Man CE DX+
Star Trek
Mass Effect 2
all for Steam.
What is your favorite Robin story and why.
Let me know your preference 1, 2, 3, on which game you want.
I can either toss the code out in the open, or you can provide an email (throwaway should be fine) for me to send the code to.
It's fine to not provide an email until after you win if you want it that way.
Let's say the contest will close at 10pm Pacific and 1am Eastern (roughly 3 and a half hours.)

If I ever get a good job, I want to gift someone an omni though. I love those things and I'd gladly share the joy. But, for now, I'll probably gift a few people smaller, but not too small things. College is a drain on funds and I can't wait to be done.

I made some verses of my own.
Then he thought up a plan! A Horrible plan!
GRIEVOUS THOUGHT UP A TREMENDOUS, HORRIBLE PLAN!
"I know just what to do!" Grievous said as he eyed Kashyyyk's globe.
And he made a quick copy of Sun-ta's headdress and robe.
"What a Grievous idea!" The cyborg said with a hum.
"With this robe and this headdress, I look just like jedi scum!"
"I'll need a *koff* taun taun..." He wheezed with a hack.
But, they wouldn't be seen 'til Empire Strikes Back!
Did that stop the General? No! Grievous simply said,
"If there's no taun tauns, I'll build one instead!"
So he called up a battle Droid, one which looked quite brassy,
And attached two horns right onto its chassis.
He fastened a sack, made of a cloak not yet destroyed,
On a banged up old speeder And he hitched up that Droid.
Do you decorate your tree with /co/ related items?

I think what happens is, people realize the threads are coming, put together a new list, but don't change some default options after adding items.
>>88076740
I got a cute little Iron Man ornament to put on the tree at my mom's
>>88076740
I decorate my Menorah with fire.
>>88076764
They might be new to it too, I guess. Found someone I wanted to gift with an address though, so that'll be that until I get paid again.
Maybe there should be something in the OP about how it doesn't put in your address by default?
>>88070830
Is it?
And we're updated, we're at 34 gifted and a 43% gifting rate
>>88074606
yep it's fixed
>>88075542

>>88076740
I gifted someone last year that decorated their tree with it

>>88077372
I'm sitting out the riddles this year. To much stress lately, and I feel like trying to choke you as I get frustrated will just add to that.
How you doing RIddler?
>>88077396
Try to extract the zip and you should be prompted to enter a password.
>>88077420
Maybe take a break and think again about what it's asking.
>>88077453
Ahhhh, pretty good. Sad that you won't be getting frustrated by my boxes!
>>88077516
No prompt here
>>88077396
>>88077602
Might not be related to what you're doing, but if you have Windows 10 the built in file extraction won't work, you gotta use 7zip
>>88077516
Does it require watching a certain movie? I tend to avoid that side of /co/
>>88075853
Thanks so much, man! My Amazon is marked to hide gift notifications, so I'll wait for the surprise.
>>88077602
Windows Built-In file extraction does not support the encryption, you should use 7zip linked in the original puzzle post.
>>88077614
It does, but not in such a way that you couldn't google it.
>>88077635
I'm a fan of the things I got you (and of a lot of the other things on your list too), so I hope you enjoy 'em too--Merry Christmas!

I like it! I was a bit stuck for a while, though I've admittedly been distracted for the past few hours with hyperactive kids. I've made some minor alterations I think help the rhythm. Let me know what you think. If I've removed any capitalizations that were meant to reflect the book, we can add them back in - I've actually never read the book, only watched the cartoon and Ron Howard movie.
>Then he thought up a plan! A horrible plan!
>GRIEVOUS CONCOCTED A TREMENDOUSLY HORRIBLE PLAN!
>"I know just what to do!," Grievous said, eyeing Kashyyyk's green globe
>Then he crafted a makeshift headdress and robe
>"What a grievous idea!," the cyborg beamed with a hum
>"With this Sun-Ta disguise, I look just like Jedi scum!"
>"I'll *koff* need a tauntaun...," he wheezed with a hack
>Alas, there were none to be seen until The Empire Strikes Back!
>His cunning mind racing with thoughts, he said
>"If I can't find a tauntaun, I'll build one instead!"
>So he sent for a Clanker, one which looked quite brassy
>Then welded two durasteel horns right onto its chassis
>Next he fashioned a sack from a cloak not yet destroyed
>And to a banged-up old speeder, he hitched up the Droid
>>88077636
Fuck you, just got it.But really, shouldn't it be love and not loves?
>>88078915
Nah I'm pretty sure it's the proper tense and conjugation. But maybe.
>>88079082Funnily enough my DM, whenever not playing would have that TV station on for background noise. I think they played Monk at around 9 on Sundays?
Thank's for the riddles, I gotta sleep on these.

Here's my attempt at coming up with the verse after your first one.
>"They're trimming their trees!" he growled in disgust
>"Tomorrow is Life Day. I must stop it, I must!"
>Grievous scowled and fumed, angry as Darth Maul
>"Life Day will end, ONCE AND FOR ALL!"
>Tomorrow the Wookiees, with their fur still so coarse,
>Would open their presents and all thank the Force
>The Force! Oh the Force! Oh the Force! Force! Force! Force!
>That's the one thing he hated! The FORCE! FORCE! FORCE! FORCE!
>Then the Wookiees of all kinds, would sit down and eat
>And they'd eat! And they'd eat!
>And they'd EAT! EAT! EAT! EAT!
>They'd eat Wookiee-helpings, enough for a fleet
>It made Grievous want to just slice them like meat!

I'm trying to put my hands on Incredible Hulk #378 for a storytime, but it's harder than I thought.

I know there are good Superman Christmas stories (I can't think of any offhand except for the JLA Christmas episode though), but I could always go for more great Superman moments. And Christmas just lends itself so perfectly.

Good morning and welcome to December 1st! The puzzle is still live so get in here!
>>88084296
As far as I've been able to figure out, the first puzzle obviously refers to the wikipedia article, but noting both the letter and the word indicated makes no sense. The 29th word in section 2 is His, and the 29th letter is O. Continuing in that fashion yields gibberish. Am I thinking about it too hard?
>>88084402
You are on the right track. Perhaps analyze again the number combos. It could MUCH more direct than that.
>>88084493
Your puzzles never fail to make me feel really dumb.

Tremble before the might of the Black Raven!
As it's now officially December I'll be kicking off a semi-regular series of Christmas B-movie streams! Tonight will mostly be a test run to make sure things are working properly so be warned there could end up being technical issues - audio sources always seem to give me trouble with these things. Check in later today for more details, I hope to get things started at about 7 MST.
ALSO, Alex in Montreal should expect a parcel to arrive at some point today!
>>88085182
I assume the second clue is grammatically incorrect by design?
>>88064642
Thank you, kind Anon! Have a great Christmas, my friend!
>>88084944
Well that's pretty fucking fantastic. Congratulations. I wish you a fruitful drawing career and whatever that comic is I will look forward to it for you. Thank you for the gift, I will also look forward to that.
>>88085240
What is it with you people and my grammar? I'm almost certain thatloves is the correct tense in the statement X loves to do Y at Z
>>88084944
What comic?
Drawfag here, taking requests for anything for you fine and lovely people. I won't be able to do them until a little later, but I thought that I would put this out there as a little inquiry. Cheers!
1T4CRERRKODGN
>>88085276Is that to say that X is a singular thing or is it a group?
>>88085325
How about >>88079922 since Kamala seems to be the most frequent request so far?
>>88085276If it was all one sentence, then 'X loves to [answer]' would work, but since its split up into two it should be, if fully written out, 'what does x love to do? he loves to [answer].
>>88085368
Sure thing :)
>>88085350
>>88085371
Ahh I see there are two tangents here.
>1) My grammar for the hint is correct
>2) The answer is not a complete sentence but rathera common christmas related title of something
>>88085424
I felt so enraged at myself when I figured that one out last night.I still can't see how to 'subtract the start from the finish' w/o looking at the edit history
>>88085476
Take a break, maybe consider what you are looking at. A common mistake for puzzle solvers is to get bogged down in the technical.

Cheers lads!
>>88085295
Not my cover, but this is the first issue I'm on
>>88085511

That looks pretty good, scan it for us
I gave some serious thought to our Grievous/Grinch parody as I lay awake in bed last night and figured it was best to lay out a story to work from as we go forward.
The original Grinch story involved him 'saving' Christmas for the Whos which came together to celebrate in spite of holiday trimmings being stripped away following the realization that he too could be touched by holiday spirit and having a change of heart. Suppose our story isn't that Grievous isn't attempting to steal the holiday trimmings directly, but to disarm the Jedi, Clones, and Wookiees in Jedi disguise as preepemptive strike while Life Day celebrations are going on? He'll slink through stealing weapons under cover of night and, victory now certainly assured, is shocked to find the plucky Wookiees still ready to defend the life they cherish so much even without the benefit of weapons. Touched by their warrior's spirit, Grievous will come to have some small understanding of Life Day and find an excuse to retreat for the day so that they might celebrate in peace.

>>88088907
I'm glad you like them, but I wouldn't say I'm talented. I'm not drawing them like POFG does his drawings, I'm more or less setting up a scene in a game and taking a screencap. Sometimes I have to create characters that aren't in the game, but the game lends itself very nicely to doing so. But I appreciate the compliment nonetheless.
To answer your question, no I don't host them anywhere, just post them in the Christmas threads.

Thanks, Scribs. I forgot to save bear-wrasslin' Christmas Roddy last year.
Speaking of which, to the kind anon who gifted me Hell Comes To Frog Town, sharing it with my wife last Christmas was everything I hoped it would be. I've been meaning to pick up the biography Roddy's kids released in October based on his notes for a new book.
>>88088972
Here's an example for the whole "have to create characters" since the game is strictly DC characters.
