Another year is upon us as is another thread.

Grab some coco, turn on the Christmas music, and hang out with some /co/mrades as we share stories and get into the holiday spirit.

As previous years share your Amazon wishlist and some random Anon may purchase a holiday gift for you.

All lists: pastebin.com/i76p6g59
Ungifted lists: pastebin.com/PnsZCHHH

To get your wishlist code open you wishlists on Amazon, around the top right there's a share option that will open a window with a link in it, we just need the bit after the com/w/

It's far better than we deserve when you consider by and large we didn't give you details, and everyone had their own thing for it.

I didn't name any girls with my original suggestion because I only could think of anime girls.

Sorry guys I won't be popping up too often for these first couple threads, but hey something exciting happened! Anyone that's followed me through the years knows how big of a fan of Justice League International I am, and the struggles I've met trying to meet Kevin Maguire.

Well guess who got to meet Keith Giffen, JM DeMatteis, AND Kevin Maguire all at once? This guy! Baltimore Comic Con was very good to me.
Merry Christmas though and I'll try to stay up on this.

You know... I've never strictly thought about it to be honest.

I do like Christmas music though.

I'd make a joke about enjoying it while spinning my dreidel, but I don't think I have one...
>>
I just put on an autogenerated Holiday playlist and the first song is the Peanuts theme...

I mean, I get why it was chosen... but it doesn't feel like a holiday/Christmas song to me.

I like unconventional Christmas songs a lot. Don't get me wrong, the standards are great, but you can only hear Sleigh Ride so many times.

For various reasons, these put me in the Christmas spirit the most these days.

That's awesome to hear, Doc Seid. I'm sadly no closer to figuring out how to make the Santa Life Equation into a Christmas sweater, but I think it's time to finally crack down and try to devote some time to making it a reality. Hopefully, I can get something done between now and the big day.

On a side note, speaking of deadlines, one of my oldest friends is getting married on New Year's Eve and, since I'm unable to make it down from Alaska to Tennessee during the holiday season, I'm wanting to record a little speech or something for them. As I've never done anything like this and have no mic outside what's built into my laptop, does anyone have a suggestion for a good recording program?

>>88000180
Bing Crosby is a must for me and, even though it's not strictly a holiday tune, the "Put A Little Love In Your Heart" bit of Scrooged gets me every time.

And you can't go wrong with the Muppet Christmas Carol soundtrack. And speaking of Paul Williams, I've waited for months to say thanks to those who suggested my picking up The Phantom Of The Paradise last year. I finally did back in September and I absolutely loved it.

>>88002058
Yea I tried to go back to Amazon this year, about 7 months ago when they were ramping up for the holidays. I didn't want to get locked back in with the company that kicked me to the curb after 5 years but can't argue with $13 an hour, overtime, and holiday pay, even if it's a temporary job.

But they called me for an interview, then refused to answer my calls when I tried to get back to them. Finally they "lost" my application. Pretty sure the dickhead manager just didn't want me there again.

Multiple part times seems to be the way right now, just hard trying to find places that will work with scheduling.
>>
>>88002106
I don't see it listed there, but hopefully you have my favorite Christmas comic, although it may work better in the day when there is an audience, since even I won't be up much longer.

What are some films coming out this holiday season that you're looking forward to /co/mrades? I've yet to see anything new in theaters lately, but I plan to take the family to check out Fantastic Beasts this coming weekend and I'm pretty hyped for Rogue One.

>I don't expect anyone to gift me an omnibus (but no complaints from me if someone is feeling that kind).
I always expect folks to order less expensive third-party offers on things I add to my list so as to not put others out to much, but on the off-chance someone should feel extra cheerful while looking over my list, I've got one book that's like $27 for pre-order in there.

My favorite Christmas carols tend towards the religious side. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlement is one I never get tired of hearing, but there are others.

Favorite secular Christmas song is THE Christmas Song (you know, the "chestnuts roasting on an open fire" one).

My own list follows--it's vaguely organized by series, with cheaper things from said series typically at the top. The exceptions are those darn omnis I'm reminding myself to buy first when I get more cash.

...am I dumb or do some anons' wishlists lack an address to ship to? I'm trying to order gifts for someone, but I don't see their address on the checkout screen. Do I have to do something different for it to ship to them?
>>
5IZBK6BYMQ27
I haven't posted in these threads since like 2013 and I forgot how little I even use Amazon's wish list function for comics anymore but here's one I scrapped together, I get payed Wednesday so hopefully these threads aren't banned by then (unless mods openly allow these threads now)
>>
>>88004279
Don't worry, sometimes people forget to add the address. Post their list in the thread and Elusive will add a no address tag to it in the pastebin. Usually the anon will show up at some point and fix the problem

Only one /v/ do you have to worry about a mod deleting a gifting thread

There's a guy who loves gifting copies of Nights because it's his favorite game, and he usually gets to give like 30 copies away. But almost every time a mod found out, the thread got deleted.
>>
>>88004373
But it wouldn't say my address during checkout then, right?

I haven't played it yet, so I can't tell you whether I agree with you or not.

All I can say is shit mods like those are why nobody can give anything away on /v/.

I'm sure there's a chance /v/ would be even more gifty then here if they could. I mean, what better way for them to show someone how great their favorite game is then gifting it to them?
>>
>>88004391
Nah I remember mods were mass banning threads years ago, I got a one week ban and I remember it because the ban reason was hilariously butthurt. I'm assuming you won't get banned for these now unless people make like ten threads at a time.
>>
>>88004483
I think that was due to a combination of begging and overlapping threads.

I'm sure like 95% of people here won't understand the lyrics, but they're pretty genius - it starts with "God is born" (which is also the title), and the rest of the first stanza is just listing contradictions. (fire freezes, light darkens, etc).

I can't really say I had a bad Christmas memory really, growing up Christmas was always great. I have to say thought that my Grandfather really loved Christmas. It was his time of year. He was kind of an old school guy in that he didn't really know how to express himself emotionally but you could always tell he loved everyone in our family by the look of joyful anticipation on his face while watching people open their gifts.

>Well, I got job security for the first time in my life back in July
Well I lost mine, spent the first five months working a job with no set hours, where sometimes I would work only one day in a week (not to mention somebody killed a guy on the way to the job at some point and the police cordoned off the ONLY real walkway for two weeks), and when I finally got fed up with it and quit, hoping to find some office work.
I wasn't able to get anything and started working another warehouse job that I got let go after a month for having an opinion on their system.
So I went back, against every fiber of my being, to a temp job I did a year ago, as well as two years ago, which at least was a sure source of income - a bit too sure, since during the buy period 48 hours a week was the absolute minimum I'd do.
But now they don't need people to work there anymore, so I'm jobless again.

She and her brother will be turning four and two respectively in the next couple of months. She's taken a liking to Miraculous Ladybug recently and our little boy has a major Star Wars obsession of late. Playskool makes little miniature figures for Star Wars characters like the Imaginext DC heroes we got our daughter a few Christmases back, so we've picked up a few of those for him, including the Ghost ship from Rebels. We've been keeping an eye out for some Miraculous Ladybug stuff, but so far we've only found plushies of the little ladybug and cat avatar things for her.

At the missus' suggestion, because the kids have begun jumping on the furniture and their beds lately, we've ordered one of those miniature indoor trampolines for them to bounce on too. That should prove to be interesting.

So I'm currently getting my streaming logistics ironed out - getting the stream to pick up the right audio source has always been an issue for some reason. Looking to get the first movie out on the 1st, from there it'll be played by ear throughout the month

First time posting my list this year, hi /co/!

>>
Oh, how I've missed these threads! Hope everyone gets what they're wishing for this Christmas!

I'm actually gonna try doing something new this year for these threads. I'm not that knowledgeable on Christmas comics, but I still want to spread some Holiday cheer to keep these threads afloat, so... who wants to hear some Christmas carols? I'll gladly sing requests for people if they have a favorite holiday classic or /co/-related Christmas song they want to hear. I'll also gladly shut up and stop posting if this doesn't go well.

Here's a few to start it off; would love to see others join in, too! Sorry if the quality on these is a little low; didn't know the threads would be starting up before December, and I wanted to join in as soon as possible!

Merry Christmas, /co/!

Welp, this year hasn't been the greatest.

Lost my job, some friends died from cancer, I have no money left, no job prospects, and to top it all off, BvS was a piece of shit.

But you know what? I ain't gonna let it get me down. I'm still here, I'm still breathing, I'm not done yet. I'm home with family right now, and that's all I need.

Tidings of comfort and joy, desu senpai.

If I can give one gift this Christmas, it'd be to tell everyone don't give up. As long as you keep going, things can get better.

Merry Christmas, /co/mrades. And a Happy New Year for everyone!

>>88024484
I don't know. More often than not I'm invited to my brothers in-laws in the morning, then show up wherever family wants later in the day.

No one ever figures out what to get for me even with lists, so I expect a decent holiday with a collection of gift cards to a handful of places everyone knows I shop at.

So pretty decent hopefully.

>Honestly , it used to be "All I Want For Christmas Is You"
Sure it's overplayed nowadays, but the first time I ever heard this song was while attending a Christmas chorus concert my middle school girlfriend sang in back when I was in seventh grade. I sat near the front row of seats and she kept eye contact with me through the whole song. Fifteen years, five wedding anniversaries, and two kids later, I still blush a little when I catch her singing it to herself.

I'm inclined to think so.

Sadly, on a related note, I've just discovered that the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN areas where I both met and proposed to said middle school sweetheart are in flames thanks to extensive wildfires in the area. They've had to evacuate everyone and The Ripley's Aquarium there had to leave behind something around 10,000 animals after being forced to evacuate because the hillside behind the building to is ablaze.

That's a tricky question, because everyone is a Summers now.
I mean, Scott and Prof X. are related through the old Shi'ar royal family, and if we count Havok and Wasp's relationship in the future from Remenders Uncanny Avengers, we could connect Ultron to them. And Ultron means Vision, and Vision means the Young Avengers twins, and those mean Hulkling (although yeah, that's a little forced), and HE means the old Skrull royal family as well.

An empty box, they want nothing, they get nothing.

But honestly your could default to a giftcard, but I've always found that a food or candy if they really don't want anything works best. So just getting something that they're at least mildly interested in and get them a sampler or gift set. As an example I had a roommate that kept saying he didn't want anything that loved spicy food so I got him a gift set of hot sauces from around the world.

Uncle Scrooge #251. It was the backup story to a Barks story (interestingly, Barks only DREW the story - it was scripted by Bob Gregory). It's never been reprinted or translated for the eight billion Disney comics sold around the world - I guess the subject matter IS a bit grim.

Still, I'd love to see it reprinted... do you think IDW would put it one of their Christmas Parade one-shots if we asked them nicely? Granted, it wouldn't make this year's cut, but maybe in 2017...

I think most storytimes here are on a "gentleman's agreement" sort of thing - the storytimer makes sure they're not treading on anyone's toes, ask if it's alright to post issue number whatever from such-and-such, then goes ahead. I know Minifig will sometimes post something kind of obscure, because he likes to confound expectations. Also, because he's kind of a hipster when it comes to comics.

I did find out about the Kerascoet books this year though, so those have been delightfully dreadful reading.

I dedicated this year to knocking out a bunch of comics I had downloaded but never read. Biggest projects were the first 46 volumes of One Piece, Morrison Batman, and the acclaimed Cosmic Marvel run spearheaded by DnA. Lots of other cool smaller stuff, as well. Herbie the Fat Fury was a highlight. Been following a lot of Rebirth comics as well, which is the first time I'm following much monthly. It's a change of pace for me, since usually I'd just dive into completed runs.

>>88033110
Which starter?
>>
>>88036071
>first 46 volumes of One Piece
Be honest, did you cry for Merry?
>>
>>88004342
I went to get you stuff, but I think you need to add an address.
>>
Also, someone should have gotten a gift today. Amazon said it was delivered. Hope you enjoy Superman for All Seasons, whoever you were.

>>88036164
Definitely got to me. Water 7 was an amazing arc. Just hoping Amazon drops the price on the next box set soon so I can see what happens next.
>>
>>88036165
try again, should be set now
>>
Was going to post my list, then realized this is the same thread from last night where I already posted.

>>88036282
That's a fantastic story.
>>
>>88026916
That's a beautiful way to live up to the letter of the request, if not the spirit. Kudos.
>>
>>88033110
I've been playing way too much Sun. Just got to the Battle Tree.
>>
>>88031033
I honestly don't even know. I tried to read some old-ish JLI and JLA but couldn't really get into it aside from some arcs like Tower of Babel, other than that it hasn't been much of a comic year for me. The first half of the year was rough and games are better for shutting out the bad stuff.
>>
>>88036071

Litten. Unfortunately, his evolutions have kind of fallen behind in usefullness compared to my other party members which cover specialized niches better.
>>
>>88036498
I did too, and he's definitely my team's weak link. Mimikyu is MVP, especially with Z-Splash.
>>
>>88036293
All Seasons is one of my favorite Superman stories. Couldn't pass up the chance to gift it. Hopefully the anon loves it as much as I do.

>>88036498
Acceptable. I went with Rowlet, though I usually go for the fire starter. He was pretty fun to use. My team worked pretty well until E4 and postgame, which was surprisingly tough. Never wiped, but had to use a lot of Revives.
>>
I'd participate in this if /co/ stopped with the company wars.
>>
>>88036284
Ok I sent you something! It says it should be there on Friday. Hope you have a happy holiday, anon!
>>
>>88036567

Yeah most of the Trials I've gone through wind up being shoot-outs in trying to outpace damage. (God dammit Mimikyu and your fucking Play Rough)
>>
>>88036655
You too man, thanks a lot!
>>
>>88036567
>that name
Did you watch Kamen rader OOO?
>>
>>88036719
No I just really love Spanish pencil sharpeners.

Yes.
>>
>>88036760

I shouldn't be surprised that there are so many toku fans on /co/ but I still find it weird when the two boards cross over.
>>
>>88031033
I spent half of the year reading every Luke Cage and Iron Fist story, then I read all of Swamp Thing (from Wein to... well, Wein again, funnily enough), and now I'm on a Doctor Strange kick, although I took a detour to read Defenders. I'm on New Defenders now, so I'm almost finished!
>>
>>88031033
Started to finally tackle the Usagi library. Loving it so far.
>>
>>88036806
Yeah, it's nice to find toku fans elsewhere. Honestly I avoid /krg/, so discussion anywhere else is always exciting for me. Flash season 1 talkback threads with the Drive comparisons were great.

Was disappointed by Ghost, since it had such great designs. Ex-Aid seems fun so far. Recently started watching Zyuohger too, since I heard that was fun.
>>
>>88036760
>>88036806
Just finished watching Fourze and W a few weeks ago and Im on the 22 episode of OOO, I have to thank an anon on /wsg/ for introducing me to the series
>>
>>88036645
These threads are the safest spot on /co/ to escape the shitposting on the rest of the board.
>>
>>88036645
>>88036954
These and some storytime threads.
>>
>>88036953

Hot and Cold running water?
>>
>>88036937

Drive webms in the Flash talkback threads were what got me to check out Kamen Rider in the first place.

Ex-Aid's a blast so far. I still think the suits and belt gimmicks are silly but goddamn the plot is moving at MAHHA speed right now.
>>
>>88036953
Good stuff. Fourze is one of my favorites. I actually don't love OOO and W like others do, but Tajador is such a great design. Strongly recommend Gaim. You can skip Wizard, though it has some of the best suits and strong fight choreography.

>>88037151
Admittedly, I haven't been paying super close attention to Ex-Aid so far and mostly been putting it on in the background while I do other stuff. Trying to focus on it more now. Hate the suits. Love the video game motif.
>>
>>88037224
>>88036953

You can skip them all.

Nice! I picked Rowlet too! Errol was the heavy hitter of the team. What did everyone else go with for their final E4 team? I chose Decidueye, Bewear, Salazzle, Lycanroc Midday Form, Golisopod and Honchkrow.

I ran Mimikyu, Incineroar, Mudsdale, Magnezone, Dhelmise and Aquarachnid.

Magnezone was unexpected bro of the game. Didn't expect to use him at all, but he was so good early on and never stopped being awesome. Early Thunder Wave was a big help.

Wizard is a mixed bag. It's stylish as fuck, but it's a chore to sit through the whole way because the writers forget that the main character has a personality for long stretches of time, and there's zero threat behind the main villains for like 20-30 episodes after Phoenix gets punted into the sun
>>
>>88038077
There was a rumor that Haruto´s actor fought with the writer of the show over the quality of the writing.

Not at the E4 yet, I just finished the Ghost trial.

I have a Magneton right now, lucked out and got one with a Modest nature and it's a world-class shitwrecker. It and my Mudsdale wind up being able to handle most problems that come my way.
>>
>>88038077
And it also has it's fans. Each show should be watched and judged by a person themself is all I'm saying. They can safely drop if they want, but should still give it a chance for themself.
>>
>>88038150

That's why I called it a mixed bag instead of just saying "it's shit don't watch it".

There's only one Rider series I've watched through that I regret putting time into and that was Ghost.
>>
>>88036314
Thanks. I'm the kind of guy you need to be specific with or I will screw around. Plus anytime I can draw Kamala is a good time.
>>
>>88038190

My one hope is that someday it gets the Amazons treatment and gets a show that makes better use of the designs.

>>88038150
Yeah, fair enough. I actually don't hate Wizard to the extent a lot of people do. It did some cool things, and it might be my favorite setup for a Rider series (Blue Lantern magical Rider is hard to top). I was just bored with it more than anything else.

>>88038190
Why is it always the series with the best suits?
>>
I wonder, did the little skeleton figure I sent out make it to the person? It was sent from Japan so who knows.

Beats me, Faiz was the second series I decided to watch based solely on loving the suit designs.

I've softened a lot on my opinion of it since then but boy did that season piss me off when I finished it the first time.

I'm glad to hear that the animals are safe, but it breaks my heart that many lost so much.

I met my wife while on an end-of-year celebration trip with our middle school to Dollywood when I was in sixth grade and she was in seventh. I'd planned to propose to her in that same spot years later, but it didn't quite work out thanks to being overcrowded on an extremely hot day. However, I later proposed in the Ripley's Aquarium penguin exhibit, so everything worked out.

Ah, it's truly the holiday season...

Arguing with family members, them wanting to know why you are arguing with them... on a disagreement they brought up moments before.
>>
>>88043124

I'm lucky my family's always gotten along well with each other.

Which is impressive considering my dad is the youngest of eleven kids and my mom's family runs the gamut of like six different sects of Christianity and various spots on the political spectrum.
>>
>>88043004
Look up Chris Samnee (Daredevil off the top of my head) and Mike Allred (X-Statix, iZombie).
>>
>>88043124
>>88043233
My family's easy for avoiding arguments:
Mom's side's Mormon and disowned her for being bi, Dad's a deadbeat with no family in the US, all in all it leads to really only civil discourse when it comes to the holidays.
>>
>>88043004
>>88043305 gave some great suggestions (Samnee is a personal favorite). Jonathan Case has a nice style as well. I think he did a period piece graphic novel recently, though I know him best from Dear Creature (a gift from a previous /co/ristmas year) and his work on Batman '66.
