Why do people not like this? I have heard people shit on this movie for years and it has a 4.9 rating on IMDB.
Is it just nostalgia on my part? I'm not saying it's a masterpiece but I think it's super enjoyable. Only saw the sequel once, didn't care that much for it - worth a rewatch?
It's an hour and forty-five minute long slog of a setup to climax at an incredibly cheap shot at Scrappy-Doo, punctuated by straightfacedly making every "dude weed lmao" and "Fred wants to fuck everything" joke that people made in jest about the cartoon. To this end, it's quite literally a fan wank of a story made by people who weren't actually fans.
If you like it, great. But I for one think it's fucking terrible.

Me too!
It was stupid. None of the characters worked.
I mean how do you mess up Fred and Daphne? They are literally just completely normal people with one personality trait. Daphne is self-centered, Fred is stoic.
I unironically love this movie. It's literally the cartoon brought to life.

Pretty much.
Linda makes a cute Velma, but aside from that I don't think it has anything of substance to offer.
It looks like a porn parody but it's not a porn parody.
But I like it too. It's not that bad, just a little aged.

Underrated but still not that good. Overall plot was lame but it was fun seeing the characters attempt to be self aware about their roles within the group.
Zombie Island will forever be the GOAT modernization of Scooby Doo.
