Remember House of M? The Scarlet Witch goes crazy and is manipulated into granting every superhero in the story's one biggest wish?
Magneto was of course the ruler of the world, Wolverine got his memories, Captain America was never frozen in ice, Dr. Doom got his face back, Namor got his dead mutant mermaid wife back, Colossus and Storm never left their homelands, Moon Knight was sane, Luke Cage had hair, The Sentry was a normal guy, Peter Parker never became a superhero because Uncle Ben never died, Gambit got to be a thief again, Ms. Marvel was the most famous superhero on Earth, Beast never identified the mutant gene and so never experimented on himself and never turned blue, etc... etc...
Every major character in that story obviously got their wishes except for two: Emma and Scott. People would ask why Scott still had to wear those glasses to contain his uncontrolled optic blasts, wouldn't that have been his obvious wish?
The two characters who have always hated being who they were, and a decade later people are amazed at the drastic character change of the more ruthless, more reckless, more coldblooded Rightclops, and at the same time love how Emma Frost has finally shown her softer side.
Someone at Marvel must have watched Freaky Friday.
