So can we all agree that Tony's in the wrong?

Seriously, given their respective personalities you'd think Carol would be the menstrual one but the conflict only ever moves forward when Tony cockblocks her attempts to be negotiate and flies off the fucking handle. Dude's an emotional wreck. With LESS reason to be one than Carol, at that.
>>
It amazes me how the only time this was a Civil War was at the Traskileon.

I don't understand why Carol Danvers plays such big and important roles.
Why don't just people tell her like WTF you're Carol Danvers OMFG who gives a fuck? Why are they all larping that he's somehow the best hero in existence?
>>

I just wish we got a shot of Maria Hill, who really didn't want a super hero shit-show on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, after this fight started.

Isn't that pretty much what happened when Captain Hydra let Miles escape?

Jesus why did he just try to kill Cap for standing there?

And why does he have a Hulkbustermachine?

I haven't bothered with Civil War II, what exactly are they fight about? I imagine it's not another public identities thing.

An Inhuman that can predict the future.
>>
>>87960258
Did Carol absorbed energy before she sucker punched the Hulkbuster or did she recieve another powercreep for her base power level?

Continue to not bother, this is among the worst written events ever.
>>
>>87961024
I stopped at Hawkeye's trial anything interesting since then?

A new inhuman gets future visions, and Carol doesn't get that you can't arrest people for crimes they haven't committed yet, and that the guy's predictions are the kind that only happen if you try to stop them. Even though that's a lesson she should have learned in issue 1, when she gets War Machine killed and She-Hulk tit-missile'd.
>>
>>87960948
So Minority Report? That seems lazy.
>>
>>87960851
Minority Report.
One of the tie-ins literally has Rick Jones pointing out that the whole plot is just Minority Report, but with a fascist and an emotional wreck fighting over it.

Not really. Its happened in some tie-ins, but most of the time his predictions either do happen, or they don't happen precisely because someone intervenes to prevent it from happening (although it doesn't always work out well, like Clint killing Banner).
There haven't really been many self-fulfilling prophecies, especially since if there were it would actully prove Tony wrong.

As Captain Hydra elegantly put it, Tony is right for the wrong reasons.
>>
So why did Tony start this fight?

Was it because he just hated Carol?
>>
>>87961304
You'll have to kill Slott first.
>>
Tony's derailment at the end of this is pretty epic but Carol still ignored his mountain of evidence that Ulysses's visions were gonna fuck up.

And lo and behold they started fucking up. If Carol had taken a breath and used Ulysses more conservatively instead of trying to solve every problem with him, things wouldn't have escalated the way they did.

The real villain of Civil War 2 was bad writing. All the characters ever had to do at any point is sit down like adults and share information, which they DID, so the fights all feel artificial as fuck.
>>
>>87961476
He blames Carol for Rhodey and Banner's deaths.
>>
>>87961538
Pretty sure Useless is gonna turn out to be some kind of bigger plot of some big villain.
>>
>>87961504

Imagine the shitstorm if one day news come out of Slott dying after falling down the stairs, and they found his last will being that they killed Peter Parker so Miles Morales could take his place.

With Bendis making a statement that as much as it pains him, he and Marvel have agreed to follow their dear friend's last wish, and while he doesn't consider himself worthy, he'll take the burden and become the new Amazing Spider-Man writer because he knows it's what Slott would have wanted.

>If Carol had taken a breath and used Ulysses more conservatively instead of trying to solve every problem with him, things wouldn't have escalated the way they did.

Putting Carol in charge and have her lead was a wrong idea in the first place. She has a tendency of having a one track mind when it comes to pursuing objectives/missions.
>>

He fights now because he blames Ulysses and Carol for killing Rhodey and Banner, but his initial arguments have since been forgotten.

I was going to suggest Spider-Gwen, Kamala, or Gwenpool, but if I die, I wouldn't mind all three of them. A Spider-Harem. Think about it." This is a weird will, but Dan was a weird person. But do remember that characters need mainstream recognition, therefore it would be a smart business move to swiftly retcon Peter Parker in the MCU and put Miles in there, to ease people into the idea.

A new cartoon with Miles wouldn't hurt either.

Because they want her to be their strong female singular hero to compete against DC's Wonder Woman.

Widow doesn't have flashy powers, and everyone else is connected to a team first and foremost, so they're trying to push Carol for the sake of making her movies.

She's been a leader of both the X-men and avengers at several points. She hasn't gotten a solo but carols numbers have always been shit. Shooter got so annoyed with the character he got rid of her several times. The last time she was remotely popular was when Rouge stole all her powers.

Carol has always been a hack wash out. She's worse than Wonderwoman who's at least had a solid run.

Also, the fact is. Norms know who the fuck Storm is. They don't know who Carol is. Which is why she's called Captain Marvel and not Ms. Marvel. They needed striking name. However, that she doesn't matter. The character's still tanking even with constant revamps.

I wont discuss the quality of the event. I know it's shit. What i will discuss is the motivation of the characters and the logic of the events. I've read every tie-in and I've put every panel in chronological order. It makes a lot of sense on itself. It's a nice elseworld.

>>87960430
The Ultimates are the world's most powerful superteam, so the Inhumans gave them authorithy over Ulysses. That made Carol the most important superhero, if only for a while.
>>87960513
The thing is, his peers dont give a shit about her new status.
>>87960645
"He" (we dont know if that's Riri Williams or Tony Stark) is not trying to kill cap, he's trying to knock down Carol. He believes Carol is trying to imprison Miles and wants to give him a chance to escape. Also, Tony is suffering from a psychotic attack. He uses a Hulkbuster because his regular armour couldn't do it the last time they fought.
>>87960851
Tony believes Ulysses is responsible of the death of Rodhey and Bruce, putting She Hulk in a coma, and will cause more deaths in the future. He's not accepting any counter-argument because he's in shock. After a while, the situation scalated, the government wanted to use Ulysses in a bigger scale, and other heroes stepped up to help Tony stop the situation.

>>
>>87961084
>Carol doesn't get that you can't arrest people for crimes they haven't committed yet
She only did that once: with the woman with the empty suitcase, and only for a few minutes for interrogation. Given that every other Ulysses vision was accurate and that the life of people depended of her, she did the smart thing. She doesn't know that the visions can be manipulated. I'm sure that if she came to know that she would desist. She's trying to be a good person, unlike tony who at this point is borderline crazy. Cap actually points this to Tony, but he doesn't care.
Carol also acted wrong in the Alpha Flight short story and the Power Man and Iron Fist tie-ins. Those issues contradict all stablished continuity and motivations and are never referenced again, so... not very canon.
>the guy's predictions are the kind that only happen if you try to stop them
Totally untrue. The first two examples are the most obvious: the celestials and Thanos were coming, the heroes did nothing to provoke that.
>she gets War Machine killed and She-Hulk tit-missile'd
Thanos did that. If Carol had not go there, everyone at Proyect Pegassus would've died. Also, she hulk entered the coma after Thanos punched her, not because of the missiles.
>>87961098

>>
One last thing I'll mention is that nobody gets the PLOT of the event either. It's not about the fight between Carol and Tony. It's about a series of disasters that come to happen in the life of practically EVERY single marvel character that comes near Ulysses. Friendships are broken, teams disband, hearts are broken. It's a sad story about a dark time in Marvel. Ultimates2 #1 implyies that all this is originated by a cosmic being. It's not about a war, at all.
>>
>>87960258
They're both full retard without any common sense here, rushing towards an outcome without any meaning for why this outcome is reached sometimes.

Like "Some of the shit you say almost makes sense, but why the fuck did you do that just then. Damn this is poorly written".

Miles going to the capital after seeing the prediction, the war on the Triskeleton, hedging literally all thought crimes from that point on based on a kid who's predictions are noted to be 10% accurate, there have been dozens of future psychics in Marvel before this yet somehow this one is special, here comes the guardians of the galaxy since they had a movie recently, Carol going all in arresting that women she found out was innocent and holding to it, Carol Danvers being one of the two leads, All of the characters feel way less involved in general, the moral is supposed to be "generalizing" or some shit according to that ham-handed conversation Tony had with Miles instead of "thought crimes" that people hadn't committed yet, Tony going full retard and attacking at the capital when its non-aggression moment for no reason, Tony revealing the data on how the psychic kid's predictions work and no one caring or even considering it much of a factor, and the entire story relying on a much less fitting moral quandary split than the original Civil War. This doesn't even feel like a civil war, it just feels like a cash in.

Maybe you use this kid's predictions for the big stuff, like Thanos. Maybe you don't use his predictions to create a gestopo police force and start arresting people for future crimes that they often end up never doing here.
>>

Thora or Miss Marvel would be a better bet, being more likable & all that.

What's with Marvel trying to push Authoritarians as protagonists? The Red Skull should name Col Manvers as his successor.

Not too much, but at the same time I would bet these aren't the sales numbers they really wanted.

05/16 Civil War II #0 - 189,829
06/16 Civil War II #1 - 391,526 (+106.3%)
06/16 Civil War II #2 - 148,403 (- 62.1%)
07/16 Civil War II #3 - 185,949 (+ 25.3%)
07/16 Civil War II #4 - 126,865 (- 31.8%)
09/16 Civil War II #5 - 120,208 (- 5.2%)

The best that could be said about this is that it didn't sell as badly as Original Sin, but I don't remember if Original Sin harmed the sales of the tie-in titles the way CW2 did.

Because making such a massive marketing decision based on heroes that have only been around for 3 years is fucking stupid?
Because Ms Marvel is Carol's legacy so you could segue into Kamala down the line anyway?
Because holy shit did you just say push Jane more where do I even begin is that you Jim?

And that's before we factor movies in to it, then the difference becomes even more cavernous.

No, strike while the iron is hot. Carl is an irritating character who's infamous for her inconsistent reboots & massive negative baggage.

Kamala at least has interesting powers, growing & shrinking Plastic man with healing factor. Carl? A knock of an cosmic supermanl who died of cancer. Not soo good.

Also, Kamala is at least a hero. She isn't a total tool of the military. That's something.

Lastly, I could stand watching Jane Foster's hammer time better than watching Thanos job to an Alt Right gender swapped Superman clone...

I'mma respect you enough to assume you've read your shit but that "tool of the military" line's gonna need some explaining if you want it to be taken seriously. She's plenty heroic. More impressively so, even, given that she should've cracked decades ago.
And by the last line we're just into buzzwords and hyperbole so what's even the point. Suffice to say, I'm a Thorfag. Not Muh. If you wanna do 3 more Thor movies use Bill or Herc or something FFS, not this cucky shit.

>>
>>87966378
#1s are usually inflated though. They usually push the most variant covers on that.

What's really more telling is that #3 was hyped up for a death of a major character, then deliberately spoiled by Marvel in the news media (HULK IS KILLED BY HAWKEYE) to get attention from speculators, and then no one cared a month later. Like no one has been talking about it at all. Not like Captain America's death or Superman's death where five months later there were still people paying $20 or more for Captain America #25 or Superman #75 (till they went down after the return). No. Civil War II #3 goes for like less than cover on eBay. That's pretty fucking bad. On top of that retailers didn't even want to raise orders on subsequent issues.

Remember Carl's role in CW 1? Chasing a spider woman copy into Canada to beating the hell out of her in front of Arachne young daughter? She was just following orders.

Finally, I can easily see the Capt Marvel flick doing Ghostbuster 2016 numbers.
>>

Even when he does something, he does nothing. His role in the event could've been filled by anyone.

Arrests without Due Process?

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

Yeah, and the whole arc was about showing that was a stupid decision. It ends with her admitting she fucked up and breaking the law to fix it.
I guess that's the underpinning disagreement, I like the fuckups as much as the paragons. Both are inspirational in their own way.

All in all, I've felt she's the most logical choice since before even getting into comics and stand by that. Source material, notoriety, rhetoric, there's lotsa different factors. I guess we'll see what happens come 2018. Depends on how they market it, like with Ghostbusters. There's a fair chance it'll be so divorced from what I like about the material that I'll want it to fail myself.
>>
>>87967556
Of which we have one Carol-ordained example. Which I think technically wasn't an arrest when you get into semantics, she wanted evidence before doing that.
She didn't approve the Ms Marvel shit and fired the one responsible when she got wind.
>>
>>87964607
>Those issues contradict all stablished continuity and motivations and are never referenced again, so... not very canon

So according to you, they aren't canon solely because you don't want them to be?
>>
>>87968045
>There's a fair chance
Here's the thing. Danver's is a good character and was great during civil war, and teh skrull invasions, she's not great at doing things smart, and she gets the job done. She doesn't get prais, she gets treated like shit for hamhanding things, but she saves lives god damnit. It hurts her, but she pushes on anyway, no matter how much she cries or hates it, she's a soldier. She's got plenty of weaknesses and lots of strengths.

The BIG ISSUE is that there's no transition from this unstable hero into this epitome of heroicness, that also is a hot butch woman who takes no guff. NONE.

Bendis is a shit writers, so she goes form her lowest point to WAYYYY higher than she ever was with little transition. We as the reader don't see her struggle to slowly overcome her problems, Suddenly she's just kicking ass and taking names, with most of her negative traits removed.

So if they do make a movie, I expect her to be as much of a mary-sue as what's her face from the force awakens. Kylo Ren's sister whatsherface. No Mar-Vell was confirmed too, so there's no passing of the torch, shit there's plenty of interesting shit you could do wiht her, but they're gonna make it as bland and kid friendly as possible to compete with wonderwoman, who isn't even a threat to then what-so-ever with how shit the dccu is. Fuck man, I like her a lot, but with faggots like that cuck Bendis at the helm, it's only gonna be a miserable experience.
>>
>>87964612
Miles literally has had no development past,

>"I don't wanna be spider-man, oh wait, I guess someone has to do it might as well be me".
Followed by issues of
>buh, what if I'm not good enough 2 be spiderman
with people telling him
>YOU'LL NEVER BE HIM
then he oneshots the villain of the week and gets ass pats for doing so. This happened with ultimate Spider-man when ult pete died and outraged people nearly beat him till he proved himself, it happened again in 616 when he beat fucking darkside with one punch, and it ahppened exactly the same AGAIN with darkside, which was followed up by an awkward scene where his aunt was made ina sexual allussion to a famous mary jane panel. Liek seriously, every thing he ever does ends like this.

Not to mention Bendis outright stated "Pete has had enough time in the sun! It's Miles turn to shine!" I'm paraphrasing as I don't memeorize what that arrogant cuck says too hard or it gives me anyurisms. He's been endevouring to put Spiderman in the grave since ultimates, and he only started to try and appropriate Spidey for the blacks since he married his black wife and started raising another mans kids.

He wants to be know for something, and whenever he gets the chance, he pushes Miles hard because he wants him to be THE Spiderman, again, in the issue where he beats blackheart, a tmblr youtube blogger mentiuons how it's so important that nu-spidey is a man of color, since his outfit ripped and showed he was black. He follows up this little gem of dialogue with "why can't I be THE spiderman isntead of just BLACK spiderman". In all of BEndis' lack of self awareness he fails to realize that's all he's every been, a shitty pallette swap of spiderman, who also wears a mostly black costume.

Yup.

Doesn't even come down to the moral argument about using Ulysses's powers in the end--Tony is just being a retard.

Nothing he does in this story makes sense. He just randomly jumps Carol at various point in the story...to what end? Is he trying to kill her? Does he think if he beats her up she'll change her mind?

There's no fucking logic to it.

I don't think it's really to compete with WW. It's just that there aren't any female heavy hitters that much in Marvel THAT they could use for a film and who can interact with MCU's architecture. In all honesty, shitty character aside, her powerset is interesting and the fact that its given to a blonde, blue eyed female gives Marvel a little compromise on their diversity agenda.

>>87961649
>>It's what my dear friend Daniel would have wanted. He would have wanted me to write "Amazing Spider-Man". He wanted it so much, he wrote it in his will. Here it is. I have his will right here. He says it right here in his will. Right here, where I'm pointing. It says "I want Brian to write Amazing Spider-Man. But only after I die. Not before. After. After I die."
