Actually this makes a lot of sense if you think about it:

The castle can copy clothes, and it can produce clothes from existing templates, BUT it can't create new clothes without a template. And nobody in the cast is a tailor.

So they end up with closets full of copies of all their existing clothes, and whatever the last paladins put into the system that doesn't creep them out too much to wear. This is why they don't wear extra outfits, it feels too much like wearing a dead man's clothes.
