I'm so fucking scepticle about this.
I mean disregarding the casting choices, this looks pretty interesting.
This seems like they are actually trying to make something heavily based on the actual Claremont comics.
I mean so far they seem to be inted on including:

The thing is, that this movie would never fit in with the rest of the franchise if it were made like this.
So the cynic in me thinks they will dilute everything down until it stops resembling the comic books.
This might be easy for Magik, who will just get everything tied to her mutation somehow. But it seems weird for Lockheed and especially Warlock.
I guess the Demon Bear could be Dani's creation or something, but Warlock is just a straight-up alien creature. How the fuck would you explain that away?

Maybe they'll just cancel this movie at some point.
I just can't believe the same studio that saw Fantastic Four comics and gave us Fantfourstic, would now go along and just say: Sure, just go ahead and make a movie about demons and aliens.

I want this movie and I want it to be good, but that seems like something that'd be too good to be true, so it probably won't be.

Fucking Darth Vader has an involved backstory and yet he was just in Star Wars with barely two lines of backstory layed out. Nobody was annoyed by that.

Just make a cool movie with cool characters and if people like them you can still decide to do a spin-off or origin movie later on. The viewer doesn't need to know every intricate detail of every character right away to enjoy a movie.

Last month there was no news at all, now they're going (allegedly) for a very tight turnaround on something that won't even start shooting until next year.

Two major points:

Firstly, if this does turn out to be true it's the end of the old continuity. They're not even negotiating to have the old stars come back if they're prepared to replace their cast like this: costs would be the main reason, hence a single cameo from a B-lister.

Secondly, this is FOX. They said they'd make a Daredevil movie in under a year, and they never did - it was a bluff to get Marvel to negotiate over rights agreements, but Marvel (rightly) said they had enough to work on. FOX didn't relent and ended up losing Daredevil because they weren't actually serious about rebooting, ever. FOX then said they'd make an FF movie in the same kind of timeframe - and did, possibly because they figured Marvel had the inside track on what they were actually working on at FOX, and someone then either miscommunicated that FF wasn't supposed to be fully funded, or the project reached a point where they decided it was viable. Look how that turned out.

Minor points:

Williams and Taylor-Joy would imply the studio wants a fairly visceral level of horror. This is not in keeping with previous X-Men movies (but is in keeping somewhat with Wolverine movies) and may or may not find an audience. After the FF "Body Horror" shitshow, I don't trust it.

Lockheed without Kitty because they've messed up bad.

Demon Bear and the associated Chakotay-tier lore has the potential to be a huge fuck-up.

Stephen King's best screen-translated works are amazing; his worst are appalling.

John Hughes directed 8 movies. 7 of them in the 1980s, most of them pretty good. He also wrote/produced a lot of movies of which some were great (and things he also directed) and several were notable stinkers, like the later Home Alone, Baby's Day Out, and all those Beethoven sequels. That's his legacy.

Man why you gotta be a fuckhead? Studios dont make movies out of spite. They make them to make money. Fox spent money on developing a daredevil reboot and it didn't get off the ground. They didn't want to rush the project and spend more money than they felt it was worth. They let the franchise go. They dont spend millions unless they think they will make millions. Fox legit does not know what they are doing right and wrong with x-men. They're not that smart and they're not that stupid.
