Then you're ignoring a lot of stuff that happened that revolved around Wonder Woman's interactions with the gods and demigods and how she deals with stuff. You're simply using the basic "protect important baby" plot. Then even Batman can work.

Would Shazam work in the Ares subplot and Amazons fighting First Born parts? You could do that with Aquaman, changing the Amazons into Atlanteans, but then you have to change 90% of the story to aquatic stuff, and make Aquaman a loving person, and wipe out the entire cosmic stuff with New Gods.

You can keep 90% of the story at it is, only needing to change little things. The amazons part is very small and inconsequential. You can take them out and nothing would change, since you've the other Zeus' siblings there in the final fight. You can even keep the Ares stuff, since him being her grandpa/brother didn't mattered, what mattered was that she was forced to kill him.

And Aquaman was much more of a loving person than Wonder Woman.
