She's Love Interest: the character, like a lot of characters in cartoons. She's the Star version of Gravity Falls' Wendy. The safe, pretty girl without much personality that is given "kickass" traits to make her seem more developed than she actually is.

She might stick around, but she'll either just be shoehorned into scenes or show up ever so often to wave at the real main characters. She basically just exists to be an obstacle for Star to overcome. Marco certainly didn't change or learn anything in the process. Just that he's a quivering ball of nerves.

If they've done all that just to build up to the first date I think they might use her in a way similar to Janna, during and after their relationship, where she's not a main character but could still play a role in episodes and interact outside of a dating context. This show is pretty decent on the continuity aspect in that sense.

If they wanted to be totally straightforward on her just being an obstacle they could've combined her with Brittney and made her a bitch so the relationship would end quickly and easily. While the main characters are definitely the show's strongest point, I don't think the other ones are just written as nobodies to make them look better.

Given how the show has handled Tom and Janna this season, there's a good chance she'll have more of a role to play moving forwards. Any show that goes beyond 1 season needs secondary characters to add minor dynamic options to episodes, having 2 human options provides some options there and there's the off-worlder secondary characters like Tom and Buff Frog too.

Hopefully the role she plays is another person to develop Marco from a human persepctive and obviously a rival for Star, but not an antagonistic rival. That's an interesting dynamic in my book, Star's used to facing problems head-on with brute force, how's she going to handle a problem like Jackie given both her and Marco like her as a person.

Then again Jackie could just end up being a prop again, which is the worst case scenario in my book, an object for Star to beat for attention. But I have hope they won't go that direction, particularly given Jackie is supposedly based off an real-life friend of Daron's.

I really like how they reversed the gender roles in this episode. In the end, Marco didn’t “win the girl” She asked him out, picked him up and took him on a date, taught him how to skateboard, he was even the one to get the ‘descending down the stairs’ scene. In addition to Ludo development this picture made me realize how garbage a lot of the latter half of S1 really looked in terms of animation (this comparison too http://soyalexnajera.tumblr.com/post/153474893557/ludo-parallelism-with-toffee-surprise). Those ultra-thin outlines for everything and the overall flat appearance; it was fine at the time for me but Storm the Castle's could've looked so much better.
