How does a random mutation in a human result in fully functional wings complete with feathers?

Angel? You wanna discuss how dumb Warren's mutation is?

Let's discuss Husk.

How can Cyclops still see when his eyes are a one-way portal to a dimension of red kinetic energy?

Chance.

He could have been horribly disfigured, like that one bird mutant Morrison made. But instead he got awesome wings.

Aren't his wings too small to be functional?

X-gene grants subconscious reality warping, that settles as a limited set of powers that "make sense" to the user.

Since it's only 1 gene that results in a huge array of different "mutations", it's the only thing that really works.

>>
>>87840912
Of all the X-men, you had to pick one whose main power is having traits of an animal, one of the least ludicrous power categories imaginable?
Not the guy who channels punch particles from the punch dimension, and mentally controls whether they damage any given object or bounce off it for trick shots?
Or the guy who transforms his entire body into ice, and backs up his mind into the water he controls, making him totally unkillable as long as there's any water on the planet?
Or the girl who replicates any mutant power instantly just by touching the user, even several powers at once, with no indication that she grows new internal organs or anything?
That's what breaks your suspension of disbelief, a guy with bird wings? It's impossible, but at least it's demonstrably a matter of genetics, because real animals can have wings like that.
My god man, even for bait you're talking nonsense.
>>
>>87841270
And then he just shows up as the school's janitor in Spider-man and the X-men without explanation or any follow-up to Aaron's dramatic character arc. Mike Marts' short stint as X-editor was an utter mess.

Question: how does cyclops sleep? Seriously, everytime he wakes up he would automatically open his eyes and blast a hole in a wall. The only solution I can come up with is if he sleeps with one if thos eye mask things (pic related) lined with ruby quartz. Is this ever addressed?
>>
>>87841629
He does usually have an eye cover. He occasionally gets nightmares and blows holes in the roof.
>>
Animal mutants really get the shit end of the power spectrum anyway when it comes to random rolling mutant powers.

It can go psychic power, with all the shit that includes.
Elemental powers from Magneto to Iceman
Or animal themed and have claws or fur and can jump real good
>>
The mutant x gene is perhaps the laziest and most bullshit origin for powers in fiction. Not dissing the X Men but you got to admit its some bullshit.

>>
>>87840912
its not biology like that, it's about having a gene that grants you a superpower.
>>
I always like the mutants that got the short end of the evolutionary stick. Like the ones who just got weird deformities and next to no powers. Poor Beak
>>
>>87841770
It's quite literally why they were created in the first place. Ol' Stan being lazy and not wanting to write up origins for an entire team, so he went with "fuck it you're all mutants and you're the X-men because you have Xtra powers"
>>
>>87841796
Isn't that 90% of the Inhumans?

Most of the background mooks just get a slug tail, bug feet, or green spots most of the time?
>>
>>87841773
I suspect in a death battle that Lorna would win simply because she's slightly more creative with her powers.

The Shi'ar rated her more threatening than Rachel I think that was an error on their part, but hey.
>>
How the hell does one separate mutants from Inhumans anyway? What does it matter just how one gets their totally random power granted from advanced alien race in their superpowered civilization anyway?
>>
>>87841817
While I like the X Men, I always felt that the inhumans had a better setup. They have their own society, their powers manifest once exposed to the mist, and there are far fewer of them. At least I think, whats the ratio between mutants and inhumans again? I know they both have genes that were manufactured and inherited by ancient ancestors but Im uncertain as to how common the X gene is or how many inhumans undergo the process
>>
>>87841854
>How the hell does one separate mutants from Inhumans anyway?
Only one requires inhaling magic farts to get superpowers. And before Marvel turned them into brand-X mutants so they could put them in movies, they were generally a completely different concept involving an isolationist society of weirdos rather than THEY COULD BE ANYONE like mutants
>>
Same explanation for pym particles, or speed force
It happens, don't think about it too hard
>>
>>87841854
2 different genes. Mutants often manifest around the same time as puberty and inhumans need crystals/mist to gain powers. Hell you could live your entire life as an inhuman and never know it
>>
>>87841884
in the 90's they were really common. With projections that mutants would be the largest demographic on Earth within 50 or so years.

Now they are back to being one in every 5 or so million manifesting mutant powers.
>>
The x gene is shit

>Either get the really cool impressive powers
Or
>get the lame power that deforms you horribly

Imagine you got the shit powers, you're saving some people and they get mad with you
"Why didn't you use your weather powers to save us quicker"
"How come you didn't try shooting him with lasers eyes"
"Why didn't you punch the villain through the building with your super strength"

You're just a guy with lobster claws
>>
>>87841889
>>87841901
I meant thematically, they are now both random person in the suburbs gains amazing powers then has to go off to the amazing super civilization where their "kind" lives.

With mutants it's Xavier's, Inhumans go to Attilan. Both are pretty much the same shit happening between them.
>>
>>87841901
>Mutants often manifest around the same time as puberty

Who are the mutants that had their mutation pre-puberty? Kurt, Franklin, that girl who was born a cat...
>>
>>87841928
Those guys become Morlocks. All the really shit tier ones with powers like having a caterpillar tail instead of legs (he exists) or the guy who just has eyeballs all over his skin (he exists too) or the guy with the amazing power to grow tumors all over his body (yup)

Sinister was right to wipe that shit out of the gene pool for good.

>>
>>87841932
Oh, you meant now. Then it's obvious: the main difference between inhumans and mutants is that Marvel Studios has the rights to the former.

>>
>>87842027
Technically, Inhumans are Kree fiddling with the work of the Celestials until it did something interesting.
>>
>>87840912
I think mutants with the power to control technology/machines are far far weirder because technology doesn't exist in nature and has no basis in biology.
>>
>>87841629
I remember in the X Men Evolution cartoon he just slept in his sunglasses. Scott has no choice but to look like a douche 24/7
>>
>>87840912
its not real
>>
>>87842127
Marvel never really used that concept for some reason.

You think it would be easier if the Kree discovered that certain aliens have this weird gene planted in them by the Celestials and they wanted to see how it works etc.

Instead of just inventing their own method of making superpowers.

Way back when, Warren had starting dating Husk. My friend was all WTF, Warren was an Original 5, Husk is the LITTLE SISTER of a New Mutant.

She was a teen, Warren is even with sliding timescale in his thirties/forties.

This upset a few friends of mine, though I got a laugh out of all of them by suggesting that Husk peeled off her skin and revealed a version of herself old enough to date Warren without it being weird.

I always wondered how shapshifting powers worked.

Like you turn yourself into liquid and slide under some door crack what the fuck happened to that burger you just ate like 3 hours ago?

Does your body consume every little ounce of mass and assimilate it ?how the hell do you grow into something twice your size and weight?where does the excess mass come from? Wouldn't breaking down your brain kill you or disable your body before you could reform it?

In fact, everybody who's not a giant spaceman is basically a non-euclidcal horror that only insufficiently engages with their universe's natural laws.

Tony used Extremis to make his brain into an "organic hard drive". Sage's brain is similar to that, but naturally rewritten, and instead of just being a hard drive, it's a bunch of overclocked processor.

What we refer are "regeneration" is actually the phenomenon of matter transmutation; Wolverine used his untold psionic abilities to recreate ambient energy and matter into the mental image of how he seems himself. That's how he regenerates his hair and nails, that's how he can grow back from just a brain in a skull.
