meanwhile
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/11/21/next-week-retailers-getting-50-inhumans-vs-x-men-ordered/

Marvel doesn’t think that retailers have ordered enough. They think that more people will want to pick this up. And if they aren’t able to pick up #0, they won’t pick up #1. Which retailers may actually have ordered more of.

So.

Marvel retailers have now been informed that they will receive an extra 50% of the amount they ordered for free, in addition to their normal order.
>>
>>87840125
Translation: Marvel printed more copies than were ordered, so they're sending the rest to retailers for free.

In other news, Civil War II's "The Oath" is now coming out in January.

http://www.newsarama.com/32082-spider-man-titles-civil-war-ii-coda-more-hit-with-delays.html

>October 26’s Civil War II: The Oath has been pushed back to January 25. This issue’s delays could be due in part to the expansion of Civil War II itself, holding back this intended epilogue as not to spoil the final issue. Civil War II #8 remains scheduled for December 28.

Phoenix Metaphor Anon

I would honestly not be suprised that at the end of IvX, Cyclops returns.
>>
>>87852832
I can answer that.
Before Morrison had Em hook up with Scotty, she was just a snotty stereotypical villainous with a newly discovered guilt complex.

That was all.

And that was easy for a casual to wrap their head around. There wasn't any emotional complexity, no sad revelations about her history or character, no complicated motivations, nothing at all that wasn't straight-forward two-dimensional tsundre girl villainess eye-candy.
Get it?

SPOILER ALERT: These complaints about character development on /co/ typically always have the same issue at heart.
>>
>>87853295
No, Gen X gave her a shitload of character development that Morrison undid because he felt like it. It was literally the entire point of Gen X having Emma in the first place.

Both Gen X and her shitty Mini series were better progressions of her character than Morrisons shitty run.

>>
>>87852832
>>87852832
By design, it overthrew the narrative that Claremont had started in the 70s. And by this time a lot of the Claremont readers have become editors and writers.

Heck, the current generation enter the industry loves the x-treme 90's crap.
>>
>>87854718
Try to stay focused on the topic you brought up: "Emma Frost was changed SOOO drastically by the Gen X book"
But HOW? You have to actually say HOW.
It's just a rerun of her life events that preceded that book, what was sooo unimaginably revelatory about her caring about her students?
Guess what: there were these characters called "Hellions" who once existed. Guess how Emma felt about them.
Surprised?
Gen X's arc for Emma was the same story that has already played out before. There wasn't any great and amazing insight and development that transpired.
For fuck's sake, she even survived an explosion AGAIN... and then disappeared for a while... AGAIN.
And at the end of the book is she reformed? Has she forever renounced her past villainous behavior?
Well, just how was she a changed woman? ... like you said she was?

No man, he's saying that Morrison's run can never compare to literary epics like "The Twelve" or that story where Wolverine was replaced by a Skrull and went to work for Apocalypse, or that story where "the Neo" tried to kill Priest Nightcrawler and Gambit was team leader...
The late '90s was the high-point of X-Men comics. Then came Morrison and it was all down-hill from there.
>>

>somehow made one of the better runs the X-men have had since the dawn of the new millennium
Who knows, maybe you hadn't read X-Men before, or your standards are pretty low, man. But that's my opinion, far from me to try to make you enjoy it less.

Just saying, his run made a lot of people start reading X-Men... and that's why they like it. Because it wasn't made for actual X-Men fans.

I wonder when Cyclops will get resurrected?
>>
>>87855793
I mean what he's really saying is muh good guy magneto.

Morrison's run isn't perfect but it put the X-Men in the best place they've been, character wise, in forever. It left them with places to go even though he didn't get to the reconstruction phase.

X-Corporation was a damn clever idea that never took off despite being the literal answer to what all those x-men who aren't on the main superhero team can be doing to help the cause, the U-Men and a toned down Sublime could be cool new x-villains, and we even had the stage set for a post-Magneto Brotherhood comeback with enough mutants on scene for evil mutants to get really serious about inheriting the earth by force.

No one wanted to do that, though, and House of M wiped out the ability to tell those stories by setting a hard limit for mutants for no real reason.

Do you not know what Millennium means?
Also just immediately bringing up Claremont makes /you/ look like you haven't read much x-Men (though if you read just Claremont, you'd still have read a lot). He's the GOAT, only hardcore contrarians and "MUH OLD COMICS ARE SHIT" faggots would say Morrison is better, bringing him up is not a good criticism. Who has been better since the 90s? Maybe Whedon, but Cassady's art carries that run more than Joss "Big Hoss Feminist Boss" Whedon's scripting does
The book hones the cast down so much and makes it a more typical action team book than the bedlam soap operatic shit Claremont did, which Morrison followed. Remender and Milligan wrote better books, but they weren't main title, and they didn't do anything for the line (and fuck UXF doesn't exist, at least not at the same level of quality, without Fantomex, a Morrison character). Who has actually put the characters in a place for growth and added worthwhile characters to the canon (Fantomex, Glob Herman, Quentin Quire)? Morrison is the 21st century run. Not because it's the greatest X-Men comic of all time but because it's a good one that actually uses the franchise to its strengths.

Read my whole post cunt, if you don't like Morrison's take, I think it's safe to say you may enjoy his run more. And Cassady's art on that run is out of this world.
>>

>hot blonde psycho
This is a good thing.
>>
>>87859344
His run was mediocre as fuck and pretty much only X-men casuals like it.
>>
>>87859471
Okay so this just furthers my point that Morrison's run is the definitive 21st century run? Once again read my whole post.
>>
>>87859494
Definitive doesn't make it good. It was alright and if you were a previous fan. It sucked. It ruined a bunch of characters just because morrison didn't get the characters as they were at the time. He just read a bunch of old shit and made them work.

The work falls flat. As most of morrison's work actually does when you analyses it without holding a candle to morrison.
>>
>>87859344
No, Whedon apologists are fucking shit.
>>
>>87852066
They added an extra issue to the series.

I'm starting to think the artist ISN'T the problem for the delay in this case.

>Everyone in Marvel except for Beta Ray Bill is a dindu or asshole
Colossus isn't an asshole.
>>
>>87859521
>if you were a previous fan. It sucked.

I don't know. I know of some fans who dropped X-Men during the 90's after Claremont left who actually enjoyed Morrison's run. I'm kind of ambivalent about it.
>>
>>87859521
I smell Magneti faggotry but sometimes "Pre Morrison Emma was best" fags rear their head too.
Really when your complaint boils down to "Morrison's characizations were not the ones I like but I have to begrudgingly admit they are still based in previous incarnations" you reveal yourself as someone who has as much of a hate boner as those you claim have normal boners for him.
And once again this conversation is less about whether Morrison's run is good and more about how his run actually tried to lay some foundation for other writers and that the X-Men franchise would be better off if the title had stayed on that path
Love or hate his run he did actually try and balance the world saving heroics and the young hot people soap opera shit
>>
>>87845363
>the fucking watcher will never teleport into your bedroom to tell you you're an asshole
Also, how does this not count as acting?
>>
>>87859768

Watcher always uses a loose definition of acting
>>
>>87859779
Well, he can't act anymore.
Thanks Fury.
Synergy buttfucked him hard.
Did Fury even show up anywhere other than Slott's Silver Surfer?
>>
>>87858173
Funny, because the good stories "since the dawn of the new millenium" were consequences of House of M. Besides Morrison fucked up opporunities for good stories by killing off a whole island full of mutants ran by Magneto, and immediately started his status quo by... causing a boom of OTHER new mutants everywhere.

>>87859206
I was meaning to link the specific post where someone pointed morrison's interview in that thread, but ended up botching it. Either way, Claremont made the X-Men who they are, and morrison threw a lot of it down the toilet because "lol who cares dude writing on drugs lmao".

>Who has been better since the 90s? Maybe Whedon
He was less bad, but nowhere even CLOSE to the good stuff. His run was bland at best.
Try running Kyle and Yost's runs, and Peter David's X-Factor, for people who actually knew their shit.
As a matter of fact, people give current Claremont a lot of shit, but his XTreme X-Men run was nowhere as bad, and probably was held back because he had to deal with the changes *coughdamagescough* that morrison was doing to the canon.

>added worthwhile characters to the canon
>Fantomex, Glob Herman, Quentin Quire
Ok, I'm not sure if you're serious at this point, but if you really like those, hey, more power to you.

>Morrison is the 21st century run
Yeah it felt a lot like... most comics in the early 21st century, yeah, but fortunately things got better.

>>87859616
Maybe he's outdated, Colossus occasionally becomes an asshole out of nowhere for a run, then someone decides to fix it.

>>87859807
Unworthy Thor.
>>
>>87846425

And therefore, there is no reason to read Marvel at all.
>>
>>87859244
Congratulations, you got yourself caught, now what's the next step of your master plan?

My worry is that writers just forget about him and he never gets picked back up.
>>
>>87845311
How can they stretch that little pit of plot over an entire issue? Is that literally all that happens?

Jesus Christ.

At this point the Phoenix has had more interaction with Scott than it ever did with Jean.

Makes you wonder if it wasn't always drawn to *scott* in the first place and Jean was a side-road. Maybe the Phoenix is from the punch dimension and it keeps trying to make a connection with this universe's aperture back home.

She wanted his dick that badly, huh?
Kinda weird they only made a baby in one reality.

He got a happy ending in PAD's X-factor. Just accept that he sent off one of his dupes to help on Muir island, and that dupe and all of the dupes that spawned from it died while Jamie-Prime continued to live happily on his farm.
