The only time I ever liked the Black Knight was his stint in Heroes For Hire, where he actually returned to using magical items instead of an atomic steed and a goddam light saber. I'll be honest, I don't know much about Black Knight. But if I were to reinvent him based on what I do know I would absolutely keep the magic sword but I would also give him a leather jacket and maybe a motorcycle. Have him be a kind of modern knight-errant like you get the occasional modern cowboy types.

Ya know, steel horse and all that. Cowboys aren't the only ones to ride horses but I feel like you see more cowboy-motorcycle analogues than anything else. I like the idea of a cool-looking modern knight who rides from town to town, kingdom to kingdom, battling contemporary superhero equivalents to the standard fantasy villains. I feel like it's a pretty novel concept. But again I am almost entirely unfamiliar with the character's background and usual antics.

I really like it too, but it's impractical as fuck to wear a bomber jacket on top of medieval chain mail armour.

I'd say American Eagle is the type of character that Marvel should be promoting right now, considering their Diversity angle. A super powered Native American guy who rides around on his motorcycle, fighting the wrongs caused by big corporations taking away Native lands and harming the environment. It seems timely given the whole issue over in Standing Rock with the protests. But I guess they can only have one Native lead at a time and are trying to push Red Wolf as their main Native hero. It sucks since he's a lot more interesting and actually has a personality and motivation.

Again, DC went full retard and sued during the fourties for copyright infringement, lost, and then appealed. Fawcett settled out of court around the time the golden age of capeshit was ending, with Captain Marvel's final issue being in '53.
DC did nothing with him until the '70's, where the name fell out or copyright and Marvel picked it up. That's not the sort of thing that can happen "accidentally". Again, DC could've made a Captain Marvel book in the 60's, but didn't, and for some reason, nobody blames them.

That's El Vejigante he showed up in one of the three fantastic four in puerto rico comics, he was a guy who joined the military after 9/11 to kick some ass but he ends up being a huge coward and his platoon gets killed while he runs away. After being discharged and years of alcoholism and therapy to deal with the guilt he was visited by the spirit of redemption, in the form of el vejigante, who offered him a chance to redeem himself by becoming a hero. He gets some powers out of the deal, but he also ends being permanently bound to the island, if he were to leave puerto rico he would cease to be.
