Multiple episodes showed that even if he isnt the smartest guy on the team, he can be very inventive and creative with the situation calls for it - and the last episode showed that he eventually went to Harvard and became a doctor.

A medical doctor isn't particularly smart. They just work hard and memorize as much as they can. Granted being a total idiot as a doctor isn't usually a thing but there are bad and good doctors.

The actual drugs a doctor prescribes come from Chemistry and Biology majors who get into pharmaceuticals. A doctor just has to know the symptoms and how to treat diseases.
