Why batman covers have long ears in the 90s?

this
Mostly Norm Breyfogle but all the wannabes he inspired too
I thought it was to indicate when shit was going far off the canon of the normal books. Like when he is against supernatural stuff like fighting Dracula or crossovers like judge dread. The longer the ears the more non canon the story is.

Does that mean TDKR is the most canon?

Because the 90's were a mistake
Different style I guess. I prefer longer ears to short and stubby ones. But I also like how the ears double as antennas, so them being shorter now makes more sense, like a wifi node.

There you go

Nah man, that's just how Breyfogle drew him, including in the main self-titled Batman book. That's as canon as it gets.

So he could hear better.
