We have this tiny preview from a writer who writes (or at least has written) about grappling an adult identity - that's what This One Summer is mostly about - and in this preview we see Kara - who we KNOW has an identity problem, because she's Kara and she's Supergirl - thinking about the identity of her friends. One didn't go the path that was put in front of her - and it's not an anti-Dolly Parton thing there, it's just that she's not gonna be Dolly Parton - and she's (apparently) fine with it. The only hasn't even really felt different from that path and is also (apparently) fine with it.

The obvious implication from this set-up is that at this stage in her life Kara probably isn't fine or all worked out on her identity, and she's got to think and act through that. That will probably be the book. It's been done enough with superheroes. There's a really clear body image thing in the preview there too but I don't see the point on elaborating on it if you can't see it. Same point applies mostly - do I agree that's invalid, too? No, it's the same "How can this superman represent us" argument you see trialed all the time in cape comics.

Your need for exaggeration, and to be reductionist and assumptive without any reasoning, is a fucking chore. Is the ability to look at something and just weigh it up completely fucking dead?
