I don't understand this view. Aside from finding out about Steven's actual family and his real name, episodes like this flesh out the characters in a way constant action doesn't.
For example we see that the Gems are starting to get over the war and their individual traumatic stresses to the point that they can start to make jokes, probably due to Steven's influence. The Gems themselves are actively trying to include another human into their group as a family member, albeit in a clunky way. That's something they would never have considered in Season1. Plus, and this is going to be a big thing at some point, we see these multi thousand year old beings look to a fourteen year old boy for advice and as a potential leader/Rose replacement, again something they wouldn't have done in S1.
So yeah, it wasn't lore heavy but to me it did flesh out their world and wasn't filler.

I want to see an episode where Pearl is hesitant to continue her relationship with Mystery Girl.

The others comfort her and want to hear her concerns, Pearl says how she isn't sure that she should continue the relationship since it is mostly because the obvious resemblance and her previous feelings towards someone else.

The Gems and Steven reassure her even know her infatuation is based off her previous attraction to another, that she shouldn't get hung up on it and should take the chance anyway. Pearl isn't sure it's appropriate, but Steven assures her it is okay.

I wasn't really supporting the tumblr bullshit you posted that said Andy shouldn't have been treated nicely or whatever, just saying that it was impossible for Jasper (whom Steven didn't try to tell that the he wasn't Rose until she was beat up and half crazed and in the process of getting corrupted) to accept his help in Earthlings when she thought he was the same person who murdered her Diamond and stole her purpose and home planet away from her, or for Eyeball to put her weapon away and accept Steven wasn't Rose when he spent time trying to convince her that he WAS just moments before.

If he saved them and gave them a chance to leave Earth alone after explaining everything it'd be a different story.

I think Bismuth should've know he wasn't Rose after spending however much time she did with him and her wanting to murder people is unacceptable, the problem with her isn't that Steven rebubbled her but that he still hasn't taken her out to let her talk with the other CGs about her it, as if he thinks it'd be impossible for her to change her views when she has other friends trying to convince her they're fucked up rather than Rose, who was a liar and kind of a hypocrite.

Every year for decades he went and for most of them nobody showed up.
If they hadn't ruined the barn enough for him to see it from up in the sky, he would have kept flying and still been without family and not even knowing his long gone cousin was mere miles away in some beach town with a kid and a family.

Same here. The Thanksgiving dinner was surprisingly comfy. I was expecting them to get tense or start crying at some of that jokes but when everybody played along and had this rare opportunity to laugh at themselves and have a good time it felt very rewarding. I'm not one for "comfy" episodes, but this one came at the right time. It helped downplay the negative image that conservatives had when it comes to immigrants changing things around them while showing why they have this PoV, and I'm saying this as a democrat.

I myself thought the first act was unbearable to watch, but when Andy came in, it actually became entertaining. It had good pacing, good comedy, kind of unusual but passable dialogue, and an overall great message.

I give this episode a B+, nearing A-, I just didn't like the pumpkin dog.
