Has the hype finally died?

yes
>>
Yes, it's been long enough that the hype has died. All we have left are good comics.
>>
>>87735339
What exactly makes rebirth different from New 52

Isn't it the same continuity or what?

I'm still waiting for them to Rebirth Cass before I even begin to care about this.
>>
>>87735410
It's mostly about respecting legacies and rebuilding in-universe connections, but you probably wouldn't understand this as a dumb normie who thinks continuity is everything.
>>
>>87735410
Same continuity but back to formuler, and some stuff that had been removed from continuity after flashpoint is getting brought back
>>
What hype?
Hype is something that's not real. Rebirth is all real.
>>
Eh I guess. The books are still good.
>>
Whatever happened to all the Dr. Manhattan/Watchmen stuff?
>>
>>87735680
waifufaggots should be gassed
>>
>>87735938
It's still gonna be in play but this whole Rebirth affair is suppose to be a 2/3 year thing.
>>
>>87735782
>dumb normie who thinks continuity is everything.

You got that backwards.

It's the normies who just want fun stories. Comic fans are the ones who obsess over continuity and demand adherence to minor ancient shit that only they know or care about.
>>
>>87735998
> a 2/3 year thing.

8 months? It started in May, so by the end of January, then?
>>
>>87736022
Don't bait this hard, no one will take you seriously.
>>
>>87735339
No, I'm still enjoying plenty o DC's Rebirth books this week like Aquaman, Nightwing, Superman, and Green Arrow.

Nice try at trying to downplay Rebirth's success though, Mouseshill.
>>
>>87736046
That's my point though. Normies are the ones who stay away from comics because they think the continuity is completely necessary and they honestly believe they have to read everything to keep up and can't enjoy the stories on their own. Only a normie would think a continuity change is is the only thing that would cause a big fuss among comic fans.
>>
>>87736141
You're going to hurt yourself doing those kinds of mental contortions.
>>
>>87735339
Alot of books are approaching double digits and they're almost all still great.

It's not hype, it's reality.
>>
The books are still good, even books that started off meh have gotten good, Nightwing for example
>>
>>87735339
I wouldn't say that, it's more DC stopped releasing new books in the vein that's made Rebirth great so far.

Harley Quinn and the second wave of stuff Babgirls, BB, TT, Heckraiser Supergal ect has gotten away from the strong continuity and house style art and all more in the vain of everything that failed with DCYou except they're not trying to do anything new either.
>>
>>87735782
Are you a fucking baby? Do you not care about the years of world building you fucking roastie bitch
>>
Based on sales, nope. It has not
>>
>>87736364
world building counts as in-universe connections, anon
>>
>>87735339
Super Sons will bring the hype back, people can't get enough of Jon!
>>
>>87736624
hopefully during this long delay they find a way to get rid of Damian since he's the Anti-Hype.
>>
>>87736071
2 years.
>>
>>87736243
He is right though, normies and casuals are the ones that think continuity and "one true X" matter. Real comic fans might engage with continuity more, but they understand (except the most faggoty of us) that continuity is fluid and that these characters can have many different interpetations, tones, and stories.
>>
>>87736905
nah, people love Damian, he is the best robin and here to stay.
>>
>>87736954
>normies and casuals are the ones that think...[that the] "one true X" matter

But normies don't like Rightclops.
>>
>>87737441
Debut numbers for TT says otherwise
>>
>>87737441
Damian is good but he's not good with Jon. But he was good with Chris in Multiversity so they should bring him back for Damian to be friends with. Jon should get his own crew.

>Better profit

doubtful

they'll have been getting huge numbers of returned issues from retailers who over-ordered thinking it was business as usual (because they still offered variants) before discovering that the usual penalties to over-ordering didn't apply

sales on some titles which have since become non-returnable orders have stayed up, but obviously nowhere near as high as the returnable orders were, and this month will probably be the last time any returnables are shipped

a lot of retailers may have been caught out thinking that the returnable conditions would last and optimistically ordered high without realizing they'd end up with big stacks of unsold problems, so by about march, when we have february's data, we should be able to see whether this is the case; if it is, DC's sales will be back where they were that time last year (about 20% to 25% of the market as a whole)

but all those returnables come out of DC's bottom line, as does the cost of producing and marketing a relaunch of their entire catalog while continuing to publish their old range; this is nothing new, and was a major flaw with New 52

ideally of course they'd be shipping half a million copies of Batman to newsstands and supermarkets every month, taking advantage of retailers who insist on returnable orders but have much wider distribution than the LCS sales model can reach, but that would mean writing their flagship title like it wasn't connected to the rest of the line, and I guess they couldn't be fucked to do that one simple thing for just a couple of months

>>87735782
sales are everything

you are why DC's sales are falling again

>>87735938
it's still hot garbage burning at the core of DC's world
>>
>>87737674
>sales are everything

>you are why DC's sales are falling again

The context of that conversation was hype on /co/ ie why fans care about Rebirth.

And DC's sales are falling because when there's a relaunch sales always start high before books settle. Relaunch bumps are always temporary, but in the long run a second issue of Batman each month selling 80k (or wherever it ends up) is better than publishing a Black Canary, Starfire, and Martian Manhunter ongoings that barely break 60k total and they'll end up better than they were before Rebirth because of that.

You have some knowledge of the ordering process but fail at basic deductive skills. It's an odd combination really.

Hype tends to die after a while. Doesnt mean we dont enjoy it
>>
>>87735410
Well for one thing people mostly like Rebirth
>>
>>87738203

The sales are falling again because they're moving forward with the Rebirth so slowly that people are losing interest. Basically nothing has happened on that front since the special issue and the thing with Flash.
>>
>>87739761
There's been more than that, but it's small mostly.
>>
So, when will the Rebirth event end? I'm sick of that ugly ass banner at the top of the comics on my pull list, are they ever just going to go back to DC?

Cass and Clayface are the only two things that make Detective Comics worth reading anon
>>
>>87740101

Cass has done nothing in Detective Comics so far and has had zero good scenes. The writer isn't playing to her strengths at all.

Clayface is the only character that's been used well.
>>
>>87740208
The few panels Cass have been featured in were great though, like her watching a ballerina practice, or her coming up the elevator to take on a small squad of Bat Grunts. it's not her fault that Batwoman fucking eats up on the panel time.
>>
>>87737674
Oh, it's that guy that keeps trying to spout shit and make Rebirth seem like it hasn't been successful. Which book do you work on for the mouse?.....is that you Slott?

>they'll have been getting huge numbers of returned issues from retailers who over-ordered
Not what we've been hearing from actual retailers.
>sales on some titles which have since become non-returnable orders have stayed up
because they're selling, which means it's successful.
>a lot of retailers may have been caught out thinking that the returnable conditions would last and optimistically ordered high without realizing they'd end up with big stacks of unsold problems
Yeah, because retailers are fucking idiots that don't put any thought into what they order. The 3 and 6 issues of returnability did nothing but help retailers since by the time returnability ended they have a very clear picture of what they can sell. Not to mention a whole heap of series have gone back for second, third and even fourth printings. That doesn't happen unless the titles are selling and stores are ordering more.

No matter how hard you try you can't spin Rebirth into being a disappointment for DC so would you fucking stop with this shilling. You already got called out for saying DC's sales numbers have all be false so far because you thought all the issues were still returnable. It's just sad at this point.

Instead, how about focusing your energies on your own mouse house. Marvel could only manage to beat DC in terms of sales by 1.82% in October....that's really pathetic if you look at the advantages Marvel had last month.
>>
>>87739761
The fuck are you talking about?
>implying people only picked up any Rebirth titles for the overall mystery
>implying you have any fucking idea what you're talking about
Sales are falling because they literally always fall for anyone after a relaunch. If you look at the actual drops and what series are still selling it's actually really fucking good for DC. Almost all their series are still selling really fucking well despite alot of them being into the double digits issues. Marvel wishes they could get Rebirth's reader retention rate.
>>
>>87740472
>implying people only picked up any Rebirth titles for the overall mystery
>mystery

It was never about mystery you colossal mong. Rebirth was always about one thing: an explicit promise to turn the clock back, undo the damage of Nu52 and make DC great again. All its massive sales gains were from that promise. It would have never beaten the mouse if it was just a renumbering and shuffling of creative teams.

The reason the sales are tilting downwards is because people are noticing that DC's chosen to slowroll that promise and "rebirth" doesn't actually show in most comics in any way other than the big blue banner.
>>
>>87740533
>The reason the sales are tilting downwards is because people are noticing that DC's chosen to slowroll that promise
and where did you get this amazing Flash fact from? your ass doesn't count

All fucking sales go down after a relaunch you retard. Rebirth's sales are staying amazingly high in comparison to other modern relaunches. Which shows you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>87740629
This Marvelcuck has been on damage control for months. It's pathetic really.
