Fuck off tripfag.
>>
>>87728438
Extreme doubt because they didn't have a back up plan just incase this happened. Very foolish of Matt and trey. Lucky for them, this is trump, the guy who bankcrupt a casino, so they should be able to wing it with not much effort.
>>
>>87728438
Redeem from what?

A show doesn't turn into shit the moment it express an opinion you disagree with.

415KB, 480x238px
>>87728569
And what opinion would that be?
>>
>>87728616
The opinion that Trump shouldn't have been elected. That was their opinion.

Disagreeing with that doesn't mean South Park should redeem from expressing it.
>>
>>87728569
>>Redeem from what?
Redeem from having a poorly constructed plot thread that relied on a real world event that proved to not happen
>>
>>87728667
When, at all, did I comment on that?

I just think it sucks that they didn't just go with a Madam-President timeline or prepare a B-plot for Trump's win.
>>
>>87728569
>>87728667
It's not going to shit because they don't like Trump, it went to shit when the entire faith of the shows story was in the hand of current events that were happening in real time and expecting shit to go exactly they're way.

They counted their chickens before they hatched and are now paying the price.
>>
>>87728766
Opinion, but what they pulled out of it was funny anyway.

Seems like they are already making things good.
>>
>>87728847
That last episode was an edited mess that really only would've worked if Hillary actually won.
>>
>>87728881
Because it literally premiered the day after. They had less than 24 hours to edit the episode. You guys are assuming they already have the rest of the season premade and ready to air, or that Matt & Trey are incapable of improvising a new plot trajectory. They make this show one week at a time, I'm sure they'll course correct as needed.
>>
>>87728748
>Madam-President timeline
are you retarded, it's supposed to be satire not fantasy
>prepare a B-plot for Trump's win
this is it
>>
>>87728438
They're probably gonna do the same thing a lot of other people have done where they say "Now, we all have to come together and accept Trump being our President"
>>
If you were watching for election coverage, you were watching for the wrong reasons.
>>
Writing week to week doesn't work when you want to have a season-spanning plot.

Plus side is next season won't have anything important enough to spend the whole season on
>>
>>87728959
It doesn't help that they were obviously softballing a Hillary win from the start. They took a weeks break and didn't even make a second episode just in case. This season has just been really mediocre compared to the last two. I don't even know why they're focusing so much on the troll thing, that only needed to be a one episode issue.
>>
>>87728438
It's been mutliple seasons since 15 and they haven't managed to so yet
>>
>>87728438
It can and I think it will, it just will probably not happen this season.
>>
>>87730293
Just a few week ago, everyone liked Soth Park and its Troll episode. But now what the fuck, they hate South Park, now.
>>
>>87730330
Because they've stretched out the troll plot to the whole season. It's the same problem with current Cartman story.
>>
>>87730429
>Because they've stretched out the troll plot to the whole season
We are only a few episode in.
>>
shame they banked on hillary winning
garrisson freaking the fuck out at the mere chance and eventual certainty of being elected would have been great
>>
>>87728438
They don't need to be redeemed, they're doing fine.
>>
>>87730439
We're 7, almost 8, episodes in. For a 10 episode season.
>>
>>87728847
Anon the last two episodes made no sense becuase both were built around a win.
I'm not watching the season anymore and will likely just wait and catch reruns becuase I cannot see how they can salvage this plot. Everything from the member berries "plan b" to Hillary having any dealings with Denmark just doesn't add up now.
>>
>>87728959
That's on them. They had the power to prepare for this but didn't, they made their bed and shouldn't be excused to laying in it because "that's just how they do things"
>>
>>87730113
I'd be fine with a two or three parter with the troll but member berries should have been a one shot story and nothing more
>>
>>87730627

You underestimate Matt and Trey's clear hatred of Force Awakens.
>>
>>87730441

I think I'm going to like Garrison being a dick to everyone now that he's completely stoned out of his mind on member berries.
>>
>>87728546

Neither did the media
>>
Trumplets really don't like people making fun of their new god emperor do they?
>>
>>87728438
sometimes i feel like the only person my age who's never liked south park
>>
>>87730655
I'm just saying narratively it's a great one time joke.
It be like if they took that "George Lucus rapes Star Wars" gag and stretch it for a whole season and mix some conspiracy plot to it, you'll hit a point it's just boring and you won't even find the original joke funny anymore.
>>
>>87730688
Mainly because if you ask any random liberal why they're rioting, torching flags, and beating the shit outta people, they can't even give you a straight answer.

There are tons of reasons why neither candidate deserved to be president but liberals are so conditioned by the media that they will form acts of treason just because the media told them to.
>>
>>87728959
it was stupid of them to base the episode around the election results anwyays, 100% their fault
>>
There is a difference between ripping off a politicial, and having a 1 minute long "guys, lets get serious for a moment, vote for hillary" speech in the episode before the election.

There were shilling hillary as hard as the rest of the media.
>>
The finisher arc of both last seasons (pewdiepie and ads) were terrible, but at least the rest of the season could hold itself with the first 9-10 episodes being mostly independent.

This season is the first one where they are doing one theme (and a couple subplots) over the whole season. There is no individuality, the plot is just slowly crawling forward and keeping going, even though a lot of people are tired of it already (since the 3rd episode).

Sure, i guess that trying to make the season different from the others is a cool idea, but it simply hasnt worked.

This might be something that's new to you but some people actually have respect for their country, for better or for worse.

You're lucky that burning a flag doesn't count as treason (yet), otherwise you'd be getting deported with the rest of the undesirables.

Oh wait that's every episode for the past 10 years.
When was the last time a joke in South Park made you laugh? Not a reference or social commentary. Just a joke.

I realize its the show's shtick now its getting heavy handed. Everyone loves those member berries but I can't stand them. Literally just nostalgia berries they use to compare the new Star Wars movie to Trump's presidency.

Am I crazy here? This shit's getting out of hand
>>
>>87733025

Member berries was one of the stupidest jokes south park guys ever had. They *probably* though about it after completely misunderstanding trumps message (or did it on purpose to fuck with what he was saying).

Plus now if you criticize ANYTHING, no matter how shit the situation currently is, you are immediately thrown into the "membah when south park was good" pit.
>>
>>87728438
This reminds me of DMing. You make plans for he players to go down to most obvious paths but the players always throw a curve ball no matter what. It's my favorite part of DMing
>>
>>87733025
nobody like the member berries at this point. It got a few chuckles the first time but that's it.

at this point it's just running out the clock to course correction and then wrap up with an unrelated resolution that will make all the previous developments pointless. This season was supposed to have a coup de gras with Hillary at the helm but now their PC plot line will have to be reworked and shoehorned in this Trumpocalypse setting they're developing.
>>
>>87733025
I wait for the day we get a new episode in the same vein as Make love not Warcraft.
>>
>>87733323
its also why they didn't make to much fun of hillary
she was supposed to be the final boss of the season so all the jokes at her expense would come right now
probably with a plot twist that hillary was behind the memberberries in order to easily win the elections by having someone like garisson be her opponent
>>
>>87733407

But stupid spoiled whore video playset was their magnum opus.
>>
>>87728438
Maybe it will end up being a bleh thing in the skies, it should help them realize that they can't do both heavy continuity and last minute topical stuff in the same show.
>>
>>87730655

to be fair it's completely understandable
>>
>>87733518

TFA was an ok action summer movie

Let me tell you a secret:

So was the original star wars. It was good, but nothing justifies the cult around it.
>>
>>87732528
>rioting and making literally millions worth of damage
>its because they are upset

You are retarded and it looks like you've got to learn the meaning of a flag.

Just the fact that many people's ancestors died under one its reason enough to see them as traitors by burning the pride of their blood. I still wonder why they don't even pay a fine for doing it.
>>
>>87733420
and now we have a half-baked season with an abandoned story line that obviously was going to end with Russian interference.

And whatever Cartman's pathos was going to be has been thwarted and Kyle has become the new asshole of the group.
>>
>>87729908
Doesn't change the fact that the last episode was a mess because they had to panic edit it the day before it was aired.
>>
>>87733729
>and now we have a half-baked season with an abandoned story line that obviously was going to end with Russian interference.
It's what we deserve.
>>
>>87733631
especially the original, it actually sucked pretty hard before the edits. George Lucas definitely extended the longevity of the movies with all the additions.

the improvements definitely overshadow the flaws.
>>
>>87733025
Current events and references were always at the core of South Park, the actual issue is that they're no fresh anymore, they're old and have said basically all they had to say.
>>
I hope next season, they take a break from being political. This season has been exhausting because of it.
>>
>>87733774
I feel like their Killing joke episode was their last "good" episode. after that cartman was neutered and kyle's morals have become flexible to a fault.
All of the interesting background characters are non-existent, or are caricatures of their former selves along with the obvious "this person is similar to but different from X" being obvious cop-outs to avoid controversy.
I don't think that it's necessarily Matt or Trey's fault for the recent de-fanging of the shows commentary, I think that the studio probably had a hand in it after the second Muhammad arc. after that I think they're trying to play it safe until they finish their last few seasons.
>>
>>87733726
Apparently you can get fined for starting a fire without a permit when you burn the flag.
>>
>>87732317
>even though a lot of people are tired of it already
Fucking this. At this point I'm only watching because I'm hoping things will get better, but deep down I know they won't and I just want to see how this will end. Also, ever since they started the continuity bullshit, I've had no desire to rewatch their episodes from these seasons. I forgot how good South Park was until I rewatched some of their older episodes.

>TFW realizing that Matt and Trey created the member berries because they realized they wanted to slack off and make a shit show and their retarded fans would just meme "MEMBAH! XD" over and over again to silence anyone saying that older episodes were better.
This is just like when someone complains about immigration and they go "DEY TUK UR JURBS!"
>>
>>87733025
I mean I thought the car scene with the member berries was chuckle-worthy, but that's about it.
>>
>>87733631

I agree with this. But all that does is make TFA even worse for riding the original's dick so damn hard.

Please.

I feel you. I don't even like the whole drama TV shows "revolution" because all those continuity-heavy shows just drag shit on for hours on end.
It's the same thing as comics, the whole "each comic could be someone's first" Jim Shooter thing may have looked like it limited possible plots too much, but it's a whole lot better than 8 issues of characters not doing anything to the sound of Bendis rubbing his hands together.
>>
>>87734335
>The force awakens is legitimately better than A new hope in every way.

worse characters, annoying jokes, and it suffers from the fact that it's clearly trying to one-up A New Hope in the scope of the bad guys.

TFA didn't need to bring anything new to the series, it was a reopening of a closed story line, it's purpose was to rebuild the world and establish new conflict, which it did just fine.

A new hope didn't have single a creative factor in it. Empire strike back did more world building and actually had a narrative arc.

The problem with the Force Awakes is that, by the time of A New Hope, there was basically nothing else to compete with. It blew the minds of children with laser swords in space. It makes more sense to make a cult about a mediocre movie with some original things if you don't have much else to compare with.

The Force Awakens is just a rehash of something that wasn't that good, as you say, but after all this time things have changed. You can't pretend that it has the same appeal than the original because it's almost the same thing but in a different context.

Any country that would illegalize flag burning, which doesn't do anything to harm anyone beyond hurting their feelings, doesn't deserve respect. The central pride of the U.S. is supposedly freedom (lol), so it'd be rather sad if they couldn't even do that right.

>>87733726
It's a piece of cloth. If someone died for the flag itself then they're an idiot, but to some people its taken on the same misguided significance as religious idolatry. A good reason, and something the U.S. hasn't gone to war for in ages, would be to die for the freedom the country it represents supposedly affords; charging people for exercising that and placing the importance of a physical object above that of the former is entirely wrong. It's far more a perversion of the "flag" than what physically burning the flag could ever accomplish.

Not this season, they built their whole season on the believe that Trump would lose. The rest of the season will just be a sloppy mess of them trying to figure how to dig themselves out of it
>>
>>87736297
It sure as hell was at the time he ran it into the ground
>>
>>87739528
They basically have been writing under the assumption that Trump would lose for this whole season and some of last. Trump won, the last episode was CLEARLY matt and trey assuming Trump lost. There was clear discord in the episode making it probably one of, if not the worst written episode in the series history. It was an unfunny, badly edited mess with little to nothing being funny and all jokes missing.

I don't think I even finished the episode and turned it off early because it was so awful
>>
The worst part is that they should be SAVAGING all the media and pundits and donor class billionaires who thought they were so brilliant and influential they could just declare the election over months in advance, but they got caught with their pants down just as bad as everyone else.
>>
>>87740342
That would require them being clever and insightful, something this season as shown them being currently incapable of.
>>
>>87738007
While south park leans left/liberal a lot they also try to play both sides of the fence from time to time making fun of a wide variety of topics. This season has been shitty because of how one sided anything has been. They fucked up this season because they are focusing too hard on one thing.

Not sure if it is because the video game making or what but it really sucks.
>>
>>87740429
Having Garrison tell the audience to straight up vote Hillary was so blatant that it just didn't seem like they were trying to stay neutral.
>>
>>87740342
Old South Park would've ripped into the media/Hollywood, portraying them as a full on circle jerk complete with their heads so far up their asses their heads would pop up on their shoulders again. It would've been glorious.
>>
>>87740447
And that's one thing I really disliked about the show, the political feelings that bleed through the jokes were so painful that it really took out everything in the show.

The Obama episode(s) that aired was done right even if I wasn't a fan of Obama, they didn't throw the whole damn season around 1 or 2 jokes.

The funniest thing is, Matt and Trey always used to say that they didn't enjoy making fun of the easy target. That they wouldn't just echo everyone else.

Actually, that can work. Joozians added the member berries into society without noticing which is easy considering they have world-wide memory control devices.

Eh, they focused on games, I think they could do it. The problem now is if they thought Hillary was going to win in the recent events, will there be any effects on the game since Garrison became president. That's gonna be the biggest concern here. I supported people protesting Obama and I support people protesting Trump. That's part of what America is about. We don't live in the fucking Soviet Union or North Korea. Protests are a big part of America.

Arrest those who wreck shit or use violence, but protests, including flag burning, should be protected and part of a really free country.

The election should've been a one episode thing so they could have two endings and switch out the ending in favor of who won like they did the last two times. They started digging their hole last season when Canadian Trump was killed because they were so sure that they would lose. This season sucks so fucking hard, why can't they just satirize different trends in society that all had a similar theme like the GOAT 10/10 amazing Season 19? Why the fuck are they trying to be a drama series now with one big overarching plot that's obnoxiously up front and center at all times instead of brilliantly pulling the strings in the background? Why the fuck do they still think sort of not liking the new Star Wars is controversial or shocking or hell even funny at all? What the fuck is going on with this season? I honestly think we're watching the worst season of South Park ever, lads.
>>

A lot of the older seasons had great jokes to roll with even if you had no idea what they were satirizing. But this is relying on topical events way too much, everyone really liked season 19 but in a few years any newcomer to that season isn't gonna know what the fuck they're talking about. There were no real jokes just over the top celebrity impersonations and tumblr crowd bashing, the only really good episode that came out of that season was Tweek X Craig, because it was a breath of fresh air to finally see them satirizing a touchy subject that's been around since modern japan has been around with real timeless jokes.

TL;DR

South Park isn't a show anymore, it's a really biased and satirical news outlet that gets their kicks from current events.
>>
>>87729968
This, really.

I haven't been enjoying the show as much since they started the continuity stuff.

They don't have a handle on it and the conclusions always suck.

This episode was originally going to be titled "The Very First Gentleman"; however, the title and a large part of the content was changed at the last minute to reflect the results of the 2016 United States presidential election. This hasn't been true since the serial story lines started appearing. They planned out seasons 18 and 19 down to the letter. Just because this season was riding on the election didn't mean they should have had a back up planned in case one didn't pan out.

It's just stupid fucking planning on their part.

>>
>>87743120
Member Berries aren't indestructible. They can be eaten, they can be squished, they can be shot... But that doesn't solve the problem that Randy was looking for a way to take them out on the vine, which was why he was experimenting with things like burning them.

I suppose you could take something like a roller and squish them, but you'd need a ton of rollers and it would take a lot of time. And the berries exist all over the place, which makes it even more difficult and time consuming to squish them all.

That's why he was looking into other more efficient solutions. It's just that they're immune to those types of things, like fire.
>>
There are so many fucking things wrong with this season. I don't know where to even start.

>Built around an idea that something may occur without planning for the idea that it may not
>they're not even bothering to hide their misogyny anymore and it's starting to effect how their liberal fan base views the show
>They got rid of the best parts of Cartman because they thought his shenanigans would get old. It has considerably backfired and hasn't landed well with the critics.
>The member berries story line hasn't started making sense at all and still hasn't. If it's JJ Abrams fault, why are the berries needed? Shouldn't people just be enamored with Star Wars which causes a huge nostalgia kick? Why are the berries even needed?
>The Caitlyn Jenner thing isn't funny. Not even from a SJW standpoint. It's just an unfunny bit that's lasted way too long

>>

>>
>>87743746

>>
>PC Principal help create president garrison
That bit felt like it was getting a bit of the point, but they still just feel a bit off the mark. Like people in south park being scared of Garrison is weird, park county voted trump as anyone would expect.

They also don't really get how to shit on trump, it is just the same stuff everyone has been saying and probably helped more than hurt. Why not show how has already started to soften up all the things he promised? Or despite acting as a big outsider he is no surrounding himself with insiders?

>>
>>87743859
Fair but that isn't how it is anymore. They've got Schumer, Broad City, Tosh, The Underground, Workaholics, House Party, and a ton of other shows that have actually been doing really well. Even the new Daily Show is pretty good. I know they hit that hard point in the mid 00s where it was Carlos Mencia and Reno 911 exclusively, but that's not how it is anymore. If anything, the animated block seems way more out of place than anything. It was cool when it made up maybe 1/4, but now it's only South Park and that god awful Legends and Chamberlin Heights.

It's just time for South Park to retire and for Trey and Matt to do something else.

That'd probably be the smartest thing to do, i just dont think they'd want to do it after having a whole episode about it and featuring her in the episodes leading up to it.
>>
>>87744232
They could do something like this to solve it quickly without giving it too much attention:
>Hillary tries to rile women up to attack with her, the girls at school initially side with her
>Gerald comes clean on his trolling urged on by Kyle and Ike
>the girls realize they were wrong in blaming the boys and they all make up
>add in a joke where people who were supposed to be with Hillary are deserting her again
Anti-climatic, but better than just dropping it I think.

I'm pretty sure that people have been killed and marginalized while being called certain pronouns.

If it's not ok to be upset about a pronoun, then it's not ok to be upset about a someone burning their own property that happens to be a piece of cloth.

People have died in association with both. If that is the standard for things being ok or not then both are either wrong or right.

>>87743817
Did PC principal even fire Garrison? I thought he quit to go off and fuck all the immigrants to death. And Garrison has been racist since the first episode. Him mentioning he wanted to get rid of all the Mexicans was a running gag.

I think Matt and Trey just overestimated how many people are PC and underestimated how many are conservative. Season 19 looks really stupid now that the most un-PC person is president.

Ummmm, only about half the electorate voted and trump lost the popular vote by a million votes so far. Trump waltzed into victory because of how the electoral college works combined with a 25% vote from the electorate.

What you said would make sense if he won by a landslide, but in the states that flipped, he won by a very slim margin and this is more about certain groups of people not showing up to vote in key states rather than PC culture being so hated.

Trump represents the most toxic form of everything he claims to be against. This includes PC culture and safe spaces.

>trump lost the popular vote
And if it had been popular vote not electoral colleges people wouldn't have voted the same way. If you lived in a state you knew was going to be red or blue then you know your vote really doesn't matter, thus some don't vote or vote 3rd party just to show their support etc

Why do people not understand that?

>>87744648
I think this election hillary got cucked by bernie bros because Bernie supporters and Hillary supporters do not like each other and are thoroughly unwilling to cooperate or compromise because they are mostly millenials that want to get everything they want or fucking burn the world down.

Republicans are more loyal to the party in this regard and would vote along their party lines even if they don't like the faction that the republican candidate represents. Also trump was really selling those memberberries hard with promises to bring back coal mining jobs, bring back manufacturing jobs and other opportunities for those that feel like they were left behind by a changing world.

Bernie bros didn't vote hillary cause she was the exact opposite of him, on some points she even looked more right wing thatn trump she just sugar coated it with being socially liberal
>>
>>87744725
You know, trump has expressed that the first ammendment (your freedom of speech) is probably going to be the first thing he guts, right?

Look st you. You're essentially saying that he should show his appreciation for having freedom of speech and expression by being POLITICALLY CORRECT and not burning the flag or he should go to a country that has no freedom of speech.

Your entire screed is your fee-fee's being hurt because he doesn't give a shit about your flag.
>>
In the end though, we're choosing between a guy who openly admits to gutting the first amendment vs a guy who does it while you're not looking. At least the former gives you a chance to protest for real. The latter pretends he's not doing it while he does it.

Well that's along the lines of what I was trying to say tho. To them, the fact that the guy is a republican is more important than his actual policies. More like think up a justification for why it's good policy or behavior right now to justify supporting republican.

I disagree. They had kaitlyn jenner's drink get spiked with a memberberry at the end of the episode right before the election. That kinda showed that something was going to happen to push the memberberry agenda.

Hillary barely had five lines between al, the episodes she appeared in this season.

Also keep in mind that Hillary's poll numbers fell to well within the margin of error where the election could go either way and a lot of states that trump won to push him over yielded paper thin margins. An upset would have been a landslide. But that's not what happened here.

He's an estate businessman and this is what he's going to be after those four years, so I highly doubt he'll act in a way to create new wars like liberals love to think. In fact, Hillary wouldn't lose shit with new conflicts (just like Obama and Libya, Siria, etc), she would only win with it. So I think of Trump as a lesser evil.

Democracy is a bad system and Trump is going to be one of the most socialist presidents since Roosevelt, but still. I talked more than I should outside of /pol/.

Trump is a pathological liar who may actually have had good intentions. It's difficult to tell because when someone does something incompetently it can be impossible to know if they were really trying.

Trump appointing a new swamp after promising to clear it out seems less like breaking his promise and more like a guy out of his depth trying to reach for anyone with experience that's ostensibly on his side already.

Get ready for W Bush 2: Electric Boogaloo, this time with a fucked supreme court!

Also that the repubs are going to get away with a blanket rejection on Obama's court nominees is fucking incredible. That's completely unconstitutional and, like the changes to the filibuster law that STILL haven't been repealed (you can filibuster remotely, changing it from a way for dedicated congressmen to put their health on the line to prevent dangerous legislation to a way to force all votes to a supermajority), fundamentally breaks our democracy.

That politicians can be for/against something and later be against/for it. Trump is against nation building, an aside from a casual comment on Stern, has always been against the Iraq war. Hillary voted for the Iraq War and then, as secretary of state, went on a series of failed nation-building ventures in other countries. Her administration would have been far more neocon-like than Trump's which is why all the neocons endorsed or voted her, including the Bushes.

If Republicans are so horrible though, wouldnt their experience as president be a detriment.

Little bush, for example, was supposed to be retarded, so why did America vote him 2 terms when he didn't deserve it? Surely they could use his presidental past as a negative if it's so bad.
>>
>>87747444
W Bush won mainly on the back of "don't change horses mid-race" in the Iraq war
>>
>>87747444
Bush played on people's fears of another terrorist attack. Even this only gave him a victory by a very slim margin.
>>
>>87746517
That would've required massive backtracking from everything the season and the previous one have been building themselves up to. They basically dug themselves into an election focused grave last season when they made Garrison their Trump stand in. Because they knew that the next season would be the most election focused season of the show thanks to Garrison and the general South Parkiness of the election, Parker and Stone thought that it was a good time to break their mold of "both sides are equally as bad" that people like moviebob have criticized the show for and finally take a side. Unfortunately, thanks to the massive culture war connected to the election, Clinton basically would have to win for the season to stay on track.
>>
>>87747367
At one point it felt like it was all connecting but it just fell apart

Gerald trolled cause it was like when he was a kid, so nostalgia. This should link to memberies in some way but hasn't at all

We haven't really seen the berries having other effects, it feels like it is separate from everyone else

The election is meant to be about nostalgia but they have barely touched on it, the berries just got him elected that is it not even addressing it. Plus SP is usually good at showing while both sides are dumb there are points, instead this time it is one side has no points and some mind control had to happen.

Trolling and the election haven't mixed at all. Now /pol/ likes to exaggerate and act like it had a real effect but there is a very obvious link you could make there and write an episode on. It seems like the only way they were going to do it was with the Hillary plot line, which has fallen apart.
>>
>>87747367
They didn't say Hillary won. Just that everyone was so sure she would win.
>>
>>87747462
>>87747490

That makes sense, I understand now.

I really don't think a Trump presidency will be a trainwreck though. Yes, we know the fed plans on raising interest rates and blaming Trump, but if you ask me Trump could honestly put America on track for the better. Calling him shit before he got into office is simply pessimistic. The same could've been said for Reagan or Obama.

Also Republicans aren't all bad (even the neocons).

When I was a kid in the 80's, it felt safe, but violent crime was at its peak during the 80's and 90's. Crime is just reported on the news more today. The last 6 years on average have seen the lowest crime rates we've seen since the 1960's but you'd never know it from the news and Internet.

But even then, it's objectively better in those cities than it was in the 80's and 90's.

I lived in DC in the 80's and 90's. Gunfire was my lullaby. Today DC is comparitvly muuuuch better even though DC has always had worse crime rates than Chicago. Chicago gets mentioned so much because it's the third highest populated city in the country and 500 homicides sounds like a war zone to people that maybe have 10-20 homicides in their city.

Chicago is bad, but there are actually quite a few cities that have worse homicide and violent crime rates.

No, it's classist. There's a difference.

It's also correct. Poor people are disproportionately the beneficiaries of legal abortion and poverty is the main driver of violent crime. The '73 Roe v Wade decision is one of the largest reasons violent crime began its precipitous drop in the early 90's.

>If you lived in a state you knew was going to be red or blue then you know your vote really doesn't matter
That's how it is right now with the electoral college. Once the majority in a state is established, the winner of each state claims that number of electoral votes. Under a popular vote, it doesn't matter if your state is a red state or a blue state, since votes are tallied at a national level. There's an even greater incentive to vote against your state's perceived color since your vote is weighted the same as anyone else's and it doesn't get discarded if you voted against your state's majority.

Poor people commit the most violent crime. They also get the most abortions and benefit the most from abortions. Fewer people born into untenable poverty means fewer people forced into a life where crime is basically required to continue existing.

Roe v Wade and unleaded gas make up 80+% of the violent crime drop.

Thanks for repeating exactly what I said. The point is it is electoral college so people vote like it is electoral college not like it is popular, the numbers would not be the same if it had been a popular vote

I'm a minority and I don't experience that. Tho my town is like 60% black and borders another town that's 95% black in the best state to live in if you're black.

You just destroyed your own argument. If a minority can be privileged, then it's not about race.

If discrimination comes from a lack of privilege, and privilege isn't tied to race, then there's no reason non-minorities, i.e. white people, can't be discriminated against.
>>
>>87749061
They are automatically privileged the moment they are born. Minorities like the uncle toms in this thread gain access to privilege from bending to the white man

Yeah, it's pretty sweet that I don't have to deal with the same shit that blacks elsewhere seem to have to deal with. Most outlandish thing that happened was a rookie cop pulled a gun on a black dude that was no threat to him because he was showing off to his buddies that were on a ride along with him. This happened in a town that has realatively low crime so it made the news.

That cop got fired and charged with a crime.

>>
>>87749117
No I didn't destroy my own argument. They simply ACT WHITE so they get white benefits. I shouldn't be fucking forced to surrender my blackness in order to get those benefits. Which is why I'm glad the white population is shrinking. I probably won't see true justice and equality but my grandkids sure will
>>

season's been hit or miss but can we at least agree the way the show handled the whole pussy grabber scandal was on point?

I wish there was more discussion on classism and the privileges inherent to the significantly wealthier. One of the bigger shocks to me was how some of the people I met in college resented how little financial aid they received when the school I went to offered 100% needs based aid. One of my friends from Ohio insisted that $150k household income was middle class where his family lives, but I'm not convinced that any part of Ohio (or in any state in the union) has a cost of living that demands that sort of income.

It's hard to sever all relations between wealth inequity and race, since there are a disproportionate number of minorities in poverty compared to Caucasians, so the image of African Americans and Hispanics in poorer households seeps into the rest of the country's views of those races. And as >>87748781 said, those in poverty are often forced into criminal activities just to survive, especially those with children since children are so expensive to raise.

You too. It's quite easy to back off the welfare and not have crime. Just like it is easy to have a lot of guns and not have crime. If 'americans' weren't such shitty people in certain areas and dempgraphics this wouldn't be an issue.
Of course, that is assuming there are actually jobs for them to do, which, over the last good while there hasn't been.

My father made 200k a year for a good while working for IBM, we were considered "upper-middle" class but my mother could spend as fast as my father made and for his part he loved going to fancy restaurants as often as possible.

I'm not saying that people who make that much aren't incredibly privileged and completely capable of explosive wealth growth while still taking care of their kids and living well, but people almost universally are terrible at budgeting and long-term thinking.
