Inkling has some neat abilities that could be utilized for scouting, stealth, and fast travel.

Assuming somewhat normalized powerlevels, Goku is basically Yang but with three times the Aura, Emma is some kind of empath or hypercognizant, the farmer is probably some sort of agrokinetic or just solar-powered, and the ranger has projectile fabrication/manipulation which lets her either conjure ammunition or turn a chunk of lead/compress a shipping container's worth of rounds into a single magazine for infinite dakka. Weapons are bare hands, some kind of bo staff maybe, a shovel and an assault rifle, respectively.
Goku alone can carry the team a lot. Emma and Farmer provide utility and the Ranger working as ranged support/artillery.
Outside of combat? Best teamwork ever.
We have a somewhat dim-witted savant fighter who likes everyone, a cheery girl whose shtick is to be friends with everyone, a cheery girl whose shtick is to be friends with everyone by gifting them mayo and a mute ranger who builds houses for strangers as her pastime. Grimm probably actively avoid their little bubble of joviality.

I'd use Pheremone manipulation. Fear reactions fall into the fight or flight mechanic in our brain and can be induced by use of chemical agents.

Animals have been known to leave chemical markers identifying if they're under stress or under attack which other members of their species can sense and pick up on.

in this case you could jack it up a notch. Have it that depending on how strong it comes out, you can make those around you either irrationally uncomfortable (I've got a bad feeling guys), tense, nervous all the way up to bowel-vacating panic. That would at least allow you a hard-sci-fi option to look at.

The downside of course, is that controlling something like pheromone dispersal would be a bitch, it would equally affect your teammates as it would your enemies unless you figure out some way to inoculate them from yourself.

Quantifying loss and saying one person is more "qualified" to grieve than another is just silly man. Everyone takes loss differently. Ruby, someone who has dealt with tragedy ever since a kid and grew up idealizing the idea of a hunter, handles it her own way. Just like Jaune who was a civilian muggle until a few months ago and who probably was sheltered from death and violence handles it differently.

Jaune and Ruby may have similarities in personality but the difference in which they handle events is what we're supposed to get from it. They're both happy dorks, the kids of the group who were made leaders but they're different in the face of events. Ruby's the unbreakable ideal huntress who remains strong despite everything (or at least that's what she is for now). Jaune's the new guy in over his head and reacts to it like a civilian would. Despite this, he's still trying which is why he's on the mission together.

At a glance, one would assume it's to find justice/revenge for Pyrrha's death, but there's a certain level of uncertainty you can feel even if no one's outright said so yet. RNJR has no idea what, if anything, they're gonna find when they get to where they're going. Even if they do find something, they have no idea what they're going to do with that information. It's less about why they're on the mission and more about what the mission even actually is in the first place beyond "reach destination."
