I don't have much story for them lately I've been more focused on trying to improve since I have some final designs I like. The only thing so far is the doll is the demons familiar.
There more for just getting a feel for comics eventually I wanna do one about this little robot maybe make her a space pirate or something.

Arm is broken because he prefers it to heal naturally. It's JoJo inspired but I don't want to go too close to the art style to feel like I'm just drawing JoJo, not my own characters.

The character himself, I have no name for. Something starting with C, I think.

He values 'knowledge' of all kinds above any else. He especially loves 'ancient knowledge', and prefers normal splints and slings he makes himself and to set bones/mend wounds on his own, rather than using magic and advanced technology.

This hinders him, as if he ever got a curse, you'd have to force him to get un-cursed. He's that content with only getting help from himself.

His love for intelligence makes him a sapiosexual. His turn-on is glasses.

His name's Ky. He's an aimless delinquent who got burned by too many people in the past. As a result he's built a bad attitude to push people away. Once you get past his tough front, he's rather hard to talk too, because he's pretty awkward from lack of social experience.

he's also a bit of a weeb. his front was inspired by delinquent archetypes because those were his favorite kinds of characters.

I'm not a great writer as english is not first lenguage but I guess it would be easier to use mostly text with some good pictures instead of having to draw mundane panels. I do love the show rather than tell approach, with several similar shots showing a continuous take like a scene in a movie like One Punch Man or I am a Hero but I can see that it would be too difficult and time consuming. I guess a format like Homestuck would be less exhausting.

I thought about the first scene or rather something like a first arc, it starts underground, the MC wakes up in a construct that seems like maze, there he meets said habitants for the first time, it more or less ends with him finally making it out of the underground finding himself in this strange world. How long he is in there depends on how much we create new things for the underground or we can just keep it simple.

Let's talk character evolution.

Here you have an old character of mine, Lucero Enaleo. She's part of the main cast of a story I've been working on for over a decade. In the past few years I've been re-working a ton of material from it, and one key element was character design.

Originally, Lucero was a hyperactive young girl who loved to write/draw/compose/sculpt/create; she moves fast, she never stops, she was ever-cheerful, and she could be annoying as heck. But that was her trait. That's what she was. And that's what she looked like, back in 2003.

Her design was a mess... but a mess with purpose, because--by canon--she designed and tailored her own clothes, which explains the extravagant looks. It made as much sense as she would allow. I was happy with that character design.

Fast-forward ten years.

Taking a look at my old designs made little to no sense to the actual settings of the story, and so I was not pleased with Lucero's old appearance. It's not just that it didn't fit the theme... it just didn't fit her CHARACTER. Even if your character is an hyperactive brat with a creative overdrive, it must also make sense. An evolution was in order.

Lucero's new version is pretty much the same--psychologically speaking--as her original self: an hyperactive young girl who loves to create stuff. Main difference is, now she craves technology as top priority. She has an obsession with steam mechanisms. But deep inside, she's still the good-ol' Lucero I created, all those years ago.

Her design is now more sensible, appropriate to her new likes (ten years of drawings also helped me improve the style), and she makes much more sense in the current setting of the fantasy world she's part of.

... ... ... She also has a pet wrench. Don't ask, that's just how she rolls.

Does it still count as "your" OC if somebody buys it?

I don't really have anything new to show, so have a recent-ish dumb sketch of greg with a oversized cup of coffee.

Oh boy this is a bit of a weird ride for me. Sadly (or thankfully, those sketches/ideas were probably a lot lamer than i remember) most of the old stuff was lost and all i have left is what i remember.

For some reason (i don't know, maybe because i was playing the old fallouts then) the setting was a post-apocalypse thing, no explanation on why its post-apocalypse, and more centered in crafting stuff with junk than gritty survival. Basically the plot revolved around greg finding lillian, both who didn't even have defined names yet at the time, and helping her to deliver a mysterious package to someone. Greg was much more of a doofus, and lillian was much more angry/mean (though she was supposedly going to change over time).

I pretty much dropped the whole thing over time for three reasons: got bored of the whole post apocalypse thing, the plot was too generic and it went nowhere.

I did a few fantasy-ish ideas over time and finally managed to get a good grasp/idea of a universe/story to follow (although it hardly has any actual story written, just concepts). Both of them are much better developed as characters aswell.

It really depends. I never really seek to make a new oc, I just happen to doodle a face or concept that I like and then flesh it out some. I'll create a few different doodles once I latch on to refine the design, but after that it's pretty set.

Concept art for a Gorgon girl I've had in my head for a while. She joins a pirate crew after falling in love with the captain and mostly uses her powers to one shot any monsters that are too big to kill with swords and guns. She's also not afraid to use her powers as leverage over people for money or power.

Some of the snakes in her hair are venomous, some more than others and some not at all.

She's actually a demi gorgon, who's father was a human man, who was turned to stone shortly after impregnating her mother. Therefore she's still somewhat weak and vulnerable as a human is.

Little pic of two of my more "main" characters, Kate and Mary.

Leads me to a question: What do y'all think of the whole "opposites attract" dynamic? Is it an overdone thing, or does it have some kind of precedent in reality? Do you think people really do search out friends who balance themselves out?

Like here, Kate (sweater) is typically quiet and reserved, but is close friends with Mary, who is emotional and energetic. I'd go into detail, but the short version as to why is that Kate appreciates the occasional ray of sunshine, while Mary sometimes needs help being brought back down to Earth.

Ok, here is something i want you to try,
remove the white energy from the eye, having the energy will not only give you more work but also make SoS very unexpressive or very hard to show emotion.
Make the shoulder the same size as the body, then slowly increase size to the original size, this emphasis the weight of your arm.
Add a second knee pad to SoS or make the knee pad more "unique". make the clothes less "realistic" and more "fantasy", add element to the clothes, or some feature like a backpack, satchel, holster, add some scratches or logo to the helmet. Give him some weight, this will make your character react to the environment much much better

I dunno how much it helps, but when I do colors, I color against a 50% grey background. For that all you need is to color the background layer black, and set the opacity to 50%. For me, it helps me to choose colors that pop and mesh a little better.

It sounds kinda weird, but I've heard the phrase "don't color something with the colors you think it's supposed to be, color it the way you want it to look." I take this as getting out of the mindset of "oh, I want him to wear a red shirt, so I'll color it red." Instead, try to push it some. Darken or desaturate it a little. Push the color away from its original hue. Lots of the blues I use are a little desaturated a shifted towards green. Against the other colors, it still looks blue, but it's got a little more to it.

I dunno if that made any sense or not, but it's what I got.

I did different kinds of color palettes to make almost like old palettes expect her headgear.

This is main protagonist of series I'm working on, it's same name of character named Macy Atomix.

And about the color advice, combine them, don't just listen to one, give them both a single tone (dark, light, gritty, neon), try to have at most 4 colors, for now.
For example, does his neck really have to be purple? does his shoe have to be blue? does his hair have to have 2 colors? put on too many colors and it will become messy, chaotic, no styles.
The simpler the better, easier to draw, easier to remember.

This looks so fucking cool! I really enjoy the way you re-envisioned his design too, particularly with the tattered mouth and his flesh sack-legs. (Technically, they were pants, but I'll admit the way I colored them only made them look like saggy flesh, lol.) In fact, I really like that teared away mouth idea. Might integrate that into future designs. Honestly, though, I absolutely adore your exaggerations of his arms and legs. Them some longer spikes then I drew! And props for giving his infernal-looking arm more presence and a slicker coloration than mine!

Sure.

Elem's hair represents Fire, sort of a visual pun on "hot head". Ironic, seeing as Elem is a happy-go-lucky kid.

Elem's arms represent Earth. They are the strongest part of his body and main form to attack. His punch feels like getting hit by a sack of rocks, which is true. Under his gloves are hands made of stone.

Elem's legs represent Air. Another visual pun as Elem can run as fast as lightning. He's quick and able to jump higher than his friends.

Elem's feet represent Water. His feet make him an agile swimmer as his kicks propel him to high speeds.

Elem's collar represents Space. Tell you the truth, this one was just a random choice. Though, purple being Space because whenever I look up images of space, I see lots of purple. What I can say is that the collar is on the top of his torso which holds his heart, which actually holds the power of the elements that are fused within Elem.

I actually typed up Lucifer's backstory in my comic's story bible a few months back. I hope this'll suffice:

"Forlorn since infancy, Lucifer only remembers glimpses of his family before he was left an orphan. The Countrymen, a feared, religious faction, took him in, where their leader, Father Maxwell, raised Lucifer as one of his own. As Lucifer grew and immersed himself in the Countryside, he obtained an unorthodox admiration for the desolate land. However, the boy’s closeness to the land ran deeper than he anticipated. Lucifer possessed the rare ability to see visions and the unseen, and the Countryside used this as a means to portray the gruesome truths behind its disarray. Further and further Lucifer fell into these terrifying secrets until eventually one of the Countryside’s powerful entities – the Titans – formed an unconscious pact with him. The Titan, Leviathan, corrupted Lucifer’s body into a living weapon on Its behalf. In return, Lucifer obtained the proper means to discover the horrifying truth behind his abandonment."

Lucifer's a rather innocent boy but this is only due to his blissful ignorance. Aw man, I originally hated Alex Mercer when Prototype first came out. Haha, my teenage self said, "I came up with the bloody spiked arms first, damnit!" Shamelessly, I took some pointers from the designs of his abilities years later.

Lucifer's actions have a drastic effect on the Countryside near the end of my series. This is mostly because he attempts to destroy one of the actual Titans and succeeds in doing so, and leads to dire consequences.

But yeah the Titans: they follow a blend between their original Christian mythos as these powerful entities of nature and the ominous mystique of Lovecraft. They're sentient but are very manipulative and ambitious to their own natural purposes.

For example, the frames in my image display the Titans: Behemoth, Ziz, and Leviathan.

Behemoth is the Countrymen's Titan and is known to them as the Skyward Lord. He's a slothful Titan that appears as the Countryside's moon and enshrouds the land in nightfall while his subjects sacrifice Leviathan's subjects to sustain him. As it stands, he's the source of the Countryside's current misery.

Ziz is a progenitor Titan, assumed as the first and the creator of the Countryside. His subjects are a group of Baphomet-like creatures known as the Zealots. Ziz's actually dormant and has Behemoth act as his surrogate, and won't retake his place until after "night is teared from dawn."

Leviathan is a tragic Titan. He's mourned as the "Lamenting Leviathan" due to his entangled, trapped state and for being a source of disease in the Countryside. His very existence spread a miasma that transformed helpless bystanders into twisted creatures known as Denizens. Many weep for him, while others lose their sanity.

He actually befriends a pair of fraternal twins who teasingly call him "Li'l Luccy." I think Luci's better though.

You're right about the design though, it's pretty done to death. I don't mind though since I like to embrace the original source material of certain mythos while adapting my own spin on it. For instance, my design for Behemoth is based on William Blake's original design. I think Ziz stands out among my Titans though since the Ziz mythology is rarely used in storytelling, so I hope my version will stick out.

As for the connections, yes the term Titan and Leviathan are related. Titan is used because of its symbolism to a being whom achieved immense size and power, which I emphasize with each Titan having a faction that worships it and carries out its actions. Leviathan, alongside Behemoth and Ziz, are directly inspired from their Jewish mythological origins. I have a great interest in religious mythology (particularly because I grew up Catholic) and how artwork/storytelling has portrayed them. I want to contribute to that anthology with my own creative ideas.

“Joseph and Mary, or the self-proclaimed “Wiccan Twins”, are a pair of fraternal twins who enjoy to finish each other’s sentences and to tease their new ‘friends’. They're twins, Broil (the girl) and Simmer (the boy)

They're half-dragon monster hunters (in training)! They were both trained by her mother, who herself was trained by Minotaurs. I'm working on the world building right now. But they haven't been in contact with other people for their formative years and only just recently integrated back into society, so they only had themselves and their family to look after.

Broil's the more eccentric one and has an easier time with other people. She's quick, can be brash, and is an all around bright personality in front of others. Simmer's extremely reserved around others and is quieter and more introverted. He's got a bout of depression and anxiety due to his looks, and can't exactly express himself well. Broil helps him with opening up around people, but Simmer comforts her at night whenever she has her night terrors. They've got a real close bond with each other and it helps in the field. Not to say there aren't any shortcomings about it though. Broil's brashness isn't confortable to Simmer all the time and she wishes he could lighten up some more. Their mom is usually the one to straighten them out.

Alright, here is something I try.
Space and Time is powerful elemental, you might want to hide it then show it later to show for the dramatic effect.
Electricity and water go together to show an irony connection.
Earth on the body and arm because it show the strength of nature.
Red on the connector to show that you can combine fire to each elemental and nọt just use it for offensive.

I got their dynamic from Gravity Falls mostly. It was always cute seeing them interact on screen. As for the monsters, it's a mixture of various myths and folklore. Some monsters are intelligent and become major archenemies for the two later on. This one's Error, a lamia that's responsible for creating most of the monsters in the land. She's only referred to as a myth in the monster hunting circles, but there are times where hunters go MIA after following certain leads.

Well you didn't really give us much to go on aside from dropping the picture. From the visuals, I like the whole mahou shoujo aspect of it and fighting an army of evil manufactured toys, but the team of girls could look a little more varied in their design. For instance, I like the fact that you incorporated pink into the uniform, but the particular shade I feel doesn't mesh well with the dresses, and the seconday colors on their torso could have a bit more variety. Like for two girls on the left, the color scheme on their corsets are really similar to each other, whereas I can distinguish the yellow and red color of the other two. Also I recommend pulling the rightmost girl into the foreground more to show off more of her features. All in all, I like the whimsical look of it, but a bjt of backstory and context is needed to distinguish it from other magical girl creative ventures.

Well first, thank you very much for the in depth feed back. The color schemes I kind of threw up on the fly, I wasn't happy with Rainbow's corset color, so I'll have to work on that a bit.

As for names, I have sheets here for the whole gang. As for a bit more info. The girls belong to an organization known as the Cute Fighters, run by magical fairies who empower young girls with their tech and magic to combat evil monsters that pop up across the world. The Cute Fighters have been protecting the world in semi-secrecy for decades, and due to their efforts, many great evil groups have been shut down and stomped out before they caused major trouble.

The particular focus for their story falls on a small city, where Cute Star lives, and has been fighting monsters for about two months before the story starts. Her fairy partner is a particularly rebellious sort, and supports her in her more violent and out of the ordinary combat tactics, but he doesn't really report any updates on the city's condition, so, the organization sends in one of their Rainbow class Fighters to oversee the rookie and the cities condition, basically becoming her supervisor. Now, after they meet, things take a strange turn, as monsters pop up in the city more than ever before (it wasn't until two months prior that the city even faced any monster threats, which is why Star was made into a Fighter) and it soon becomes revealed that the monsters belong to a group known as the Horror Empire, a massive fighting force that has somehow gone completely unnoticed by the Cute Fighters till now. They employ numerous threats, from the Toy Monsters, which act as their foot soldiers, to the Nightmarsters, their main monster fighting force, to the insidious Dark Machines, doomsday weapons capable of wiping out cities alone. Along the way, Star and Rainbow meet and turn two other girls into Fighters to lend a hand, and the rather unconventional team stand up against the overwhelming odds

Zee (top) and Zost (bottom) are officers of the ZZZPD, who are tasked with patrolling dreams and protecting dreamers from nightmares.

Zee has worked tirelessly to climb up the ranks, but because her dreamself’s strength is naturally weak, she has little to show for it. This is made even more frustrating by the fact that her step-brother has coasted all the way to the top with little effort, thanks to being born with an exceptionally powerful dreamself. After so many years of this injustice, she’s started to feel like she’s owed something, and when she finds out that nightmares can be consumed for greater strength, she overlooks the adverse side effects of doing so.

A veteran of the force, Zost has gradually lost his passion for the job at about the same rate he’s lost his hair. His increasingly sour attitude has driven almost everyone in his life away, which has just made him more sour in a vicious cycle. The one person he still has is Zee, and he tries to keep her from becoming the wreck he has.

Spent a good portion of my night inking some visuals for my final project. Figured I posted some of the characters involved. The character is a religious type named Father Gabriel.

Here's his entry from my story bible:

“The past of this 55-year-old man is something of a forgotten time since his absolution to the Skyward Lord Behemoth. He stood proud with his Brothers against Velmont’s scourge over 30 years ago and has since rose to the title of Father Gabriel. A stoic man of few but cold words, his life is with his Countrymen and the eradication of Leviathan’s filth. He follows by order through his respect of another Countryman – no matter the request. However, ever a pious man, Father Gabriel lacks any compassion for the Denizens of Leviathan or even those susceptible to his influence. Never to fail in his faith, Father Gabriel never regrets his actions, except for one – one instilled in him since 13 years ago.”

See! Now I'm super interested in it now! I like the concept page for them and how you go in depth of their attacks. It gives them a lot of personality without out right explaining to you. The setting seems colorful and action packed, filled with the esssntial magical girl essence, but now it seems much more original now that we have the backstory of it. I had a similar team focused concept called Project Glories, which was basically a sci-fi based Super Sentai team of teenagers that's one part of an interplanetary defense force fighting against fleets of eldritch horrors and abominations sent by The Golden Emperor. Now, though, it has a more grounded and paranormal spin to it and I renamed it to Psychopomps.

1 of 2 main characters. Sweetgrass is a small town country girl who dreams of seeing the world. She's a musical prodigy and is not able to easily tune and play accompaniments in real time, but can also copy something after hearing it once or twice.

As a young girl she her legs were crushed by a collapsing silo. For most of her life between being 9 to 20 she was bound to a wheel chair. Her estranged mechanic uncle built her mechanical replacements to her legs.

Her main instrument is violin.

It's actually an "around the world" type adventure.It's in a loosely based on the real world with a fantasy tone.

Also yeah, Sweet Grass' legs aren't as much of a focus as Clover's arm. Clover views her arm as sort of a liberator, allowing her to finally do what she wants in life. Sweet Grass on the other hand, while thankful for having new legs, does feel like they don't quite replace the ones she lost. They're a bit clunky and not super eye catching (in a leg sense. I guess if you were into robotics you'd love them)
