It's a bumpy ride, but I think they've finally got a handle on things. First the story moved forward a bit too fast, and then for several hundred pages it was just people talking with no plot progression. Where they are now the plot is finally moving forward at a decent pace and land quests are getting completed two-by-two. The art has gotten better as well.

On the plus side they're wrapping up a lot of loose ends, addressing major plot holes hussie left untouched, and giving us more time, development, and interactions with characters who just kind of disappeared. On the other hand the person writing gamzee sucks major ass (which is probably why he's only had one conversation) and they have a habit of having fan kids appear in the backgrounds of dream bubbles.

In all, it's better than homestuck post-vriskagram, but not as good as pre-game over. That said, [s] Rose: Play The Rain was a legit good flash

The craze definitely died out, but you need to consider the fact that there hasn't been daily updates for years.

Who's to say if it was really the fujos or the double massive hiatuses that were responsible though? Tumblr ruined this comic, don't get me wrong, but the entire craze lost traction when it went on break. One recovery was hard enough, but two? Hussie signed its death warrant. He made a mistake prioritizing the game over the comic because in doing so, by time he finished with the game, the hype would be gone. Which is exactly what happened. He should have finished the comic first, then when the game dropped people would get excited again. Not to mention there may not have been all the writing issues if he had done it that way because the tone of the story would be more firmly set in his mind, and the SJW stuff wouldn't have whipped itself into such a frenzy by then as it was still somewhat just starting off.

I really think it was the hiatuses.
