The spirit bomb was essentially built on that foundation.

In any case SSJ4 is more fanfic than Blue. Even before GT people were making shit up about a combined Oozaru SSJ from because they were the two most prominent forms in Dragonball. Then there the fact that there's been fan forms well up to about 10 that are all derivatives of SSJ4.

As for the rehashing, did you forget how every arc in GT was ripped straight from something prior?
Space Tour was DB complete with someone tricking a town and a male character having to dress in drag.
Baby was Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans meets Cell.
Super 17 was Fusion reborn complete with returning villains.

And like I said before GT was consistently trash in terms of animation. Not trash with sprinkles of good in it but straight up trash. Super 17 had to be the biggest offender of that.

While plot holes and inconsistencies are scattered all around DB, it never got to the point of such a fucking senseless miracle to beat up the bad guy. It was also balanced by the fact that the villains would also pull impossible shit from time to time (Cell coming back as perfect, original Majin Boo being stronger than his other forms), which at least adds to the drama.

I was hyped for Vegitto, but never even once expected him to win. He's like the Genki Dama, never finishes a fight. I only wanted him to troll Zamasu, because Zamasu is an unsufferable bitch, and I'm kinda satisfied.

But the way Trunks won was utterly shit. There are certain conditions under which you can forgive plot holes, but in Trunks situation is utterly impossible to save. And having that bullshit happening in a chapter that everybody was expecting just to see Vegitto again just makes its shittyness stand out.

Also, in original Dragon Ball Zamasu would have found a way to get around the super lightsaber for a while at least, or pulled another trick.

Cell coming back just as powerful as Gohan and losing the way he did is an example of the power off miracles. After all here we have a Cell who's at 100% and a Gohan who on top of being in a state he has no experience with has just been heavily injured and lost the use of his arm.

Also Kid Buu was the weakest Buu Goku and Vegeta even say that in the manga that a full power Goku could tale him down easily compared to Super Buu who out powers the both of them.
That said, the Buu arc was filled with miracles and other phenomenon that couldn't be explained like SSJ3 Gotenks and the kids being natural super saiyans, defusing because of random Buu magic and so on.
