>The Comichron estimates are now available for comics and graphic novels shipped by Diamond Comic Distributors in October, and as reported here Friday, we saw a mild increase in overall sales during the month driven in part by a much larger slate of new items.

>A couple of things will be immediate note. While reports had circulated that Marvel had shipped 400,000 copies of Champions #1, Diamond is only estimated to have shipped 328,165 copies in October. There's nothing unusual in this, and the Diamond figure supports rather than undermines the report. There were variants that went to GameStop and WizardWorld, among others, that possibly would not have been counted in the tally. And as always, the Diamond charts only report what it shipped in the month to North American stores, meaning overseas copies and reorders outside the time period are not included.

>Second, as noted Friday, we do have a Loot Crate comic again in the form of the chart-topping Big Trouble in Little China/Escape From New York #1 variant that it received from Boom through Diamond. It's the first one we've seen since the spring of 2015, and in that time something has changed: the repackager appears to have accounted for fewer copies this time.
>>
>Diamond reports shipping 421,625 copies of the Big Trouble issue; back with Boom's Bravest Warriors: Tales from the Holo John #1 in May 2015, Diamond shipped 502,737 copies. That likely puts the Loot Crate order somewhere in the 300,000s for October 2016's chart-topper, while it was in the 400,000s for the Bravest Warriors book. Orphan Black #1, back in February 2015, would likely also have had a Loot Crate order of well over 400,000 copies. It's unclear whether this represents an enduring change in the number of comic books Loot Crate orders or a one-time event.

>Champions #1 had at least fourteen variants of its own offered into the Direct Market, and while that would seemingly suggest something about how much the second issue's sales might drop off, it's hard to put a percentage on it. Sales data on the highest profile first-issues hasn't been of much help in predicting second-issue sales in a long time. Multiple variants and other promotions complicate whatever predictive ratios used to exist. Champions #1 could have accounted more a little more than half the market share difference between Marvel and DC in October, but that estimate is difficult to make as market shares are based on wholesale dollars and we don't know what the average discount received was for the book.

No, this is good for New Super man. It's already stabilized. The reason why it's out off top 100 is because of the new #1s.

Blue Beetle is the one with actual danger here.

Nope, and next year Marvel will punch back with Ressurexion, sure things like Jean grey, iceman and cable solo might no sell well but they are pandering to 90s nostalgia.

Meanwhile DC will just be putting 3 books, supersons, batwoman and JLA, i dont think those 3 can compete with the x-men, UNLESS marvel does something really stupid to the x-men like making them inhumans or sending them to other universe

It's cause Teen Titans in comics is a failing brand. And the team consists of mostly the usual members (Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy), so it doesn't differentiate itself much and seems more the same thing as usual. At least that's my theory, I don't claim to be right.

>tfw Kurt BTFO DC and Marvel

>>87683799
White Wally came back in the DC Rebirth one-shot and he's the lead on Titans. Black Wally is in Teen Titans a supporting character in Flash. He's also being given good characterization as a legacy character who's learning from his predecessors, which is a drastic improvement over how he was in N52
>>
>>87683844
Using same shit we accuse Marlel of doing.
>>
>>87683743
This.

And also because TT is a dying brand and it is seems that having Damian on the team isn't saving it like DC hope to.
>>
>>87683861
Loot Crate is better than incentive variant covers. Loot Crate comics get into the hands of potential readers, high incentive based orders tend to rot in back issue bins
>>
>>87683807
>>87683858
I know. I was just wondering if he's serious about BW being the reason why TT isn't doing well because this is quite ridiculous.
>>

>>
>>87683954
I doubt it'll go under 20,000 even in the New52 when it varied from terrible to OK it rarely managed that, so it'll probably carry on.
>>
>>87683954
It's actually done much better than many expected. So, there actually no reason to worry and even some stores said that RHATO just becomes one of their top sellers despite that many wasn't sure about it.
>>
>>87684167
Yeah, rhato even made it to top 10 of best digital sellers for this week which is the first time in very long time and even the Ireland store said that despite rhato being one their worst pre orders before rebirth started, it's selling 95% now.
>>
>>87684247

I remember that. Blue Beetle, Cyborg and RHaTO were their worst pre ordered rebirth series. It's actually doing well now? That's good and well deserved.

I dunno, what's the book roster? Is it a bunch of legacy schlock like the "All-New, All-Different" Marvel books? Those didn't get one bit of my interest, so I could see that.
>>
>>87685822
Your typical Teen Titans roster they've been pushing since the 80's.

Also he's not really getting anymore focus than anyone else. This first arc is Damian's.

Why is Moon Girl not cancelled?
>>
>>87685822
It's Damian, black Wally, Raven, Beast Boy, and Starfire (basically the babysitter).

Compare it to Titans you have Dick and Wally who have a lot of fans and the nostalgia factor of that being a roster. With Teen Titans Damian is the only heavy hitter and no one really even wants fucking Raven and Beast Boy as children in a TT book at this point.

Parents for their kids. Squirrel Girl has always sold very well in trades and does well with the all-ages market, which is something that Marvel has very few other books marketed to.

It's just that the floppie sales are garbage because floppies are bought by traditional comic readers and no traditional comic reader can stomach that art. Kids like it though.

I doubt it considering they gave the title to a literal nobody.

They did it they successfully killed the X-Men.

no wonder they blew the ending to IVX already and bringing the X-Men back to basics.
>>
>>87686212
Marvel hasn't used the newsstand market since 2012, so that's not really applicable here.

Has Moon Girl been collected into a TPB yet? Then that could bring up the bookstore market. If not they're continuing it probably because they plan to do something with it.
>>
>>87687891
Gotta see lineups and creative teams first, senpai. Are we Hopeless or not.

So what could save Marvel?

Would kissing up to X-Fags and fixing the X-men do it? Bringing back Wolverine and Jean Grey?

Another Blockbuster summer event, and hoping DC don't do one?

Pushing your agenda by calling them floppies is getting old. They're comic books, and the format preferred by the majority of readers.
>>
>>87688520
It's not an agenda, you autist. This is the data solely for floppies and doesn't include digital sales.
>>
>>87688478
The main thing Marvel should take from this is that Bendis is not an A-list creator. His books will not sell based on name alone and they need to stop giving him books as if he can because it just leads to more mediocrity. Industry as a whole might just be moving away from that idea honestly. Even DC only really has Snyder (though it's hard to tell because he mostly writes Batman) and Johns if/when he comes back, maybe Lee and Hitch if you widen it a little.
>>
>>87688598
A floppy is a floppy disk. A comic book is not a floppy. That is a term a few morons have tried to use here. Nowhere else uses that terminology. They use it to try to infer it's an inferior format.

>>87688661
It's cute that you argue this but don't even use the proper term (magazines).

Arguably, he was during the 00's. And even though people are dropping Civil War II, it's still been getting more preorders compared to Axis and Original Sin and even Bendis' Age of Ultron. (Though I'm guessing CW2 is wrecking some of the tie-in books' sales, so those would affect any gains; I don't remember if that happened with Original Sin or Axis or Age of Ultron; someone will have to check on that)
>>
>>87688476
Remember, the charts are preorders.

And this was all the retailers had to go on:

INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #9
BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (W) • MIKE DEODATo (A/C)
AGE OF APOCALYPSE VARIANT COVER BY TBA
• Tony and Rhodey are best friends on and off the battlefield but their friendship is tested in ways it never was before as the new power players in the Marvel Universe reveal themselves in a bloody and dangerous fashion that threatens everything they stand for. A Civil War II prologue story!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Funny thing is that a solicitation for a later issue claimed Riri was in it so some retailers ordered heavily.... but it turned out NOT to have her in it.

Rich the leech figured out why orders from the UK are not included in these charts:

>The Gamestop covers did go through the typical Diamond mechanism. But the British orders did not.

>A very senior comic book executive told me this was originally agreed decades ago when a major publisher had comics based on a major film license that they weren’t allowed to sell outside of North America. So, as to not let the performance of the comic be prejudiced by this omission (no, notTransformers, that’s just for illustrative purposes), Diamond agreed to restrict their monthly chart to just North America.

>However, the publisher in question denied any such change was made or requested, and had no idea why this was the way things were.

>Diamond representatives I spoke to were also clueless.

>This has, however, had a performance impact on books, such as the DC Vertigo brand, that outperformed in Britain. It didn’t affect sales directly, but it affected the perception of sales – which can then affect the actual sales when retailers look at stats charts when preparing orders.

They really aren't. This must be the first time you have moniterd sales because the majority of Rebirth books have had much better retention than past relaunches from DC and Marvel. Just look at Deadpool: BIB 1 and 2. That dropped hard and they both came out this month

The past few months the sales charts have been solid blocks of DC. Marvel's relaunch is all over the place and this is just to retailers. From almost all accounts these books are lingering on the shelves.
