Welcome back Anons! Last time, Daredevil joined the New Avengers, but not in time for the newly crazy Wonder Man to wreck Avengers Mansion (while declaring he was the good guy) or to prevent Osborn from escaping from the Raft to make a brand new HAMMER. Let's see how Osborn managed to do that, and see if our heroes can stop him.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but fucking hell Bendis, how do you put your OC, Jessica Jones, ahead of Wolverine and Spider-Man, let alone Doctor Strange?!

This is one of my favorite Bendis issue arcs specifically because I'm a Wolverinefag and the fight against Ragnarok was one of maybe 3 times in Bendis's entire tenure where he got to be the big hero in a fight

This arc is practically a prequel to Parker's Dark Avengers.
Which, I won't lie, I forgot about, so it's a good think I ran New Avengers first.

So I looked this up, while trying to see why he was in the hospital. Dude's name is CHARLES Barton, with "Barney" as a nickname.
Why is Osborn calling him by a nickname?

Yeah, so half the characters in this arc are from the Osborn mini that was released in 2011, which I GUESS can explain why Osborn's got his massive following from, since that's where the whole "Goblin Cult" thing came from. I can probably storytime it after our regularly scheduled storytime tomorrow tomorrow, if anyone's interested.

Stark Resilient was the name of Stark's company during Fraction's run. Around the time the movie came around, and made a plot point about not making weapons anymore, synergy happened, so they stopped doing that in the comics too. Only thing I remember them making was some kind of green car, and that was an entire subplot.

From what I understand, the Goblin formula boosts the strength of the individual to superhuman levels (lift 10 tons), as well as just increasing their baseline speed/agility (probably not to Cap levels). The original rendition of the Goblin formula drove the user insane but that has been edited out in some renditions. Most importantly, the Goblin formula enhances the users durability to extreme levels and blesses them with a healing factor that can allow them to survive fatal injuries.

He's mostly an Avengers character. He's an antagionist, but since he's a government man they can't really get rid of him. He once tried to use an alien device to wipe out all superhumans in ROM, and then in Thunderbolts he was part of a conspiracy that, if revealed, would've tore the superhuman community into a Civil War (ironically, before the ACTUAL Civil War).

Eh, legal divorce takes a bit, and remember that in Bendis' head, his fuckhuge arcs that take 6 issues to recount what happens in a single afternoon are mostly supposed to happen one immediately after the other. So if it wasn't for Fear Itself, everything after the Possession arc I guess might've happened in a fortnight or so.

>Like I said, in New Avengers, we never actually see how Osborn gets taken out.
The adaptoid resolution was so shameful that I'm actually happy we didn't see it here. Also Vanillavengers at this point was a decompressed mess. Storm literally did nothing as an Avenger. The whole arc was an excuse to have Steve on the very edge of his mind about his and the Avengers' public role as a justification for his being an idiot at the start of AvX. As much as it pains me to say it, when you read it in one go, you can see where Steve is coming from.

I wonder how this all played out in the post-Kobik timeline.

And oh boy, it's time to see Cyclops be entirely 100% wrong!

He does the same shit again in Uncanny X-men with Mystique/Dazzler. One of the great things about this storytime is that one starts noticing a lot of Bendis-isms, rather than just le ebin Bendis dialogue

>>87681619
I hate that the Gobin cult thing went nowhere, but honestly I hate the idea of Harry being around again the way he is that I'm glad we had the Hobgoblin Legacy War that Slott did over a legitimate Green Goblin war.
Sure the Goblin has a heavier sense of narrative weight and legacy over Spider-man's mythose, but with Gabriel Stacy, Menace and Harry running around there's no way that it wouldn't have been awful for me.
>>
>>87681629
Spoiler alert: this set-up for Madame Hydra goes absolutely nowhere.

>>87681643
>I wonder how this all played out in the post-Kobik timeline.
Yeah, what does Captain Hydra think he was doing all those times he fought against Hydra.
>>
>>87681629
What the hell? That's not how you do the Hydra salute. You're supposed to raise BOTH fists up into the air. And then you have to yell "Cut off one limb, two more shall take its place!"
>>
>>87681657
>but honestly I hate the idea of Harry being around again the way he is
Just out of curiosity, why?
>>
>>87681643
>entirely 100% wrong
Hey now, he was only about 85% wrong

Does she seriously not notice the baby vomiting on her?

What was what with this series and everyone constantly eating every issue?

And I see that Thing is absent for some reason?

Ms Jones? Not Mrs Cage?

He took some personal time after being possessed by one of those hammer Serpent-entities. It basically carried little to no fallout though, Hickman was on a tight schedule on FF getting to #600 so they had Bunn write an uneventful tie-in with Possessed Ben, who does not appear for some issues in FF and then he says some broody lines to Reed about how they haven't talked in a while after "what happened" since he's ashamed.

>Guy working for Norman Osborn's henchman syndicate
>Complains about the authorities getting excessively violent

Does this guy not remember WHY he wants Norman Osborn back?
>>
>>87680743
This page's composition looks too self-aware not to have been written as intentional parody by Bendis.
>>
>>87681443
I guess Bendis doesn't remember or care that he's a minor.

This was after Doomwar so Shuri was Queen and vibranium was gone

Did it ever come back?

pretty sure it was Daisy... ?

Idiot. Daisy wasn't featured in any of Benis's Heroic Age Avengers

I know these are spread apart, but damn. Is this common for Bendis?

>People back Osborn because he offered something different.
Trump? I'm not the only one seeing this right?>>87678884
Scarlet Witch doesn't work as a blonde.
>>
>>87689219
I see the Trump resemblance too. Problem is, this happens after Dark Reign. Once Osborn was actually in power, he fucked up big time (probably less than Trump actually will), so there's no way he would still have this many people supporting him afterwards that would want him back. He didn't really offer anything different, unless you consider giving criminals positions in government for them to abuse.
Also, HE BLEW UP A FOOTBALL STADIUM.
Fool me once basically.

>offering criminals positions in government for them to abuse
>abnormal

Heh, clever.
>>
>>87690344
I know that, my thinking was more along the lines of we had people saying "someone's going to use this dissatisfaction with the system to get an idiot or madman in power and some people will cheer" for so long that nobody should have been surprised by him doing well.

All right Anons, normally I'd do it in a few hours, but I'm thinking I'll start early, and do Avengers vs. X-Men early. >>87692537

>Ben and Spidey show up in FF suits, not bothering to bring Sue and Reed for some raisin

Like, I get it, this is the team that is the team, but if you're mounting a rescue op on Captain America, why not bring as many people as you can?
>>
>>87681501
Honestly, I don't think Hawkguy had quite started yet at this point, so their divorce wasn't final yet.

What's even the point of the AIM suits if he can smell the squid?
